I have used both of these, and by far (without sounding like a fanboy), MGC is superior. There are issues here and there, but if you check the posts, updates, fixes, VBDev is not one to just say "oh well".... He puts a lot of time and effort into this. I run this on multiple servers. The one server has about 10+ forums running it at the same time. Rarely does this cause a server issue regarding resources.

Another feature request: Ability to change file name.
Example: Being able to rename the file mgc_cb_evo.php to something simple like chatbox.php or chat.php and then putting the name of the file in the admincp. (make sense?)

For a while now, I've not been able to see the chatbox on any of my templates (default included). The chatbox used to work, although I've searched through all of the options and cannot see anything which could throw it off.

I've reinstalled (deleted then reuploaded the files, and reinstalled the product / languages) numerous times, and have tried the "Display problem in some styles" workaround, all to no avail.

No errors or relevant warnings are found with the FF Error Console.

While I've enabled viewing the chatbox it for all usergroups, a possible hint is found when trying to update a user options page (the error occurs even if the MGC settings are changed):

Hi, I bought the Pro version! Love it!

Problems I noticed. (hope there are solutions)

• I also find the /PM option does not work.
• Also, the notices bar may disappear or the chat bar may disappear, depending on which is busier... Does using the DB for storage help/solve this?
• big delay when first loading the main page... how to make it instantaneous? Does using the DB for storage of chats help/solve this?
• Turning BB codes off for a usergroup so they can't change their text color works for the chatbox, but still allows them to edit/set it in their UserCP.

Enhancements recommended:

• Being able to use colors and BB codes in the /Announcement
• turning OFF refresh for certain usergroups (or turning it ON for cetain ones)
• allowing NOTICES to via /notice to pop into header (above /announcement bar) so the chatbox becomes the daily notices/announcements place to check! (perhaps a STICKY notice to appear in the notice box would work!)
• being able to edit/tailor how the formatting of the NOTICES box displays various types of notices. (ie. thread created - I can change to "created" and add a field if need be, so X posted in thread Y - could become X posted in Y forum Z) In fact, if top headers were created for the notices box, the wording could disappear leaving more room for information to display aka. Advanced Forum Statistics)

Utahraves, I Just chose a icon of any of the billion smileys and icons out there , copied the icon into the other file names needed and uploaded it took all of 2 mins.

Ricardo You chose an icon, make 3 names for the same icon Smile_new.gif , Smile_sel.gif Smile_nosel.gif, you put these 3 files in your Forum Styles Images /mgc_cb_evo/channels directory. NOT in the web sites images directory. Then when you create your channels in MGC Admin you Just put the name of the file, IE in this example "smile". Then you will see the icon show for your channels you have created.

VBDev I was looking thru the TODO list and I noticed that one of the issues that we were discussing sometime ago isn't on the list anymore. I was just wondering if it was resolved or perhaps accidentally forgotten about. The issue was that when a user types in a chat that is only a link the chat cant be edited. There is no way to double click anywhere on the chatline so that the edit box will appear. Also if someone types in a chat that is a picture but they type the link in wrong, then no picture shows up and the chat is blank. But there is no way to edit the chat afterward. Back in the older 1.1.0 versions you were still able to click someone on the chatline and the edit box would appear.

Maybe its a Vbulletin php file thats causing the issues, as I've re-uploaded the MGC ones quite a few times.

It does, just ensure that you are using the right command syntax.

It's because the db request for both is the same => depending on the activity ones might be empty.

You can solve that by setting the Seperate notifications and chats SQL queries to Yes :)

Two reasons for this delay :

• Javascript loading: if you have set the chatbox option for loading javascript YUI files from Yahoo server then they are not cached => reload at each page load.
• Chats loading: depends of how much chats you have set to show in the chatbox. If you have set a big amount of chats then just thought at it, every chat is composed of text which makes kilobytes to download. Per consequence, if there is lot of chats, there is lot of data to retrieve and it takes 1 or 2 seconds or more depending of the amount of chats and the speed of your internet connection.

The language file you are using is not up to date, you should not be using it.

I am using it in both default and a custom style but it will not show still in arcade or casino or calendar on either. I would like to try a re import with overwrite, if i do so will i lose chat history and or settings? The reason why is I installed this with the old versions in so i could run the import script then i disabled them and evo worked ok so i deleted them. Perhaps installing with them there in the first place has led to this problem? Please can you suggest best way to re-install?

VBDev if it helps any at all I am using Zoints Tags and Zoints SEO. Although this should not be the case because my old chatbox Cyber Chatbox worked fine on all pages except for IBProArcade.

I am sure there is something missing in the coding or in setting the var code so when utilized on alt pages it will bring in the chatbox. I am using a custom Style built for VB 3.0 so all vb 3.0 features work fine, I tried the default and the same thing no Chatbox is showing up in any of the non default pages. I truly believe a setting is missing in global somewhere.

Also where do I donate cause even with this minor draw back this is by far the best chatbox I have run across. I would like to thank you for all your help and development of the chatbox. I will be more than happy to buy it for the $20 so as to get your new release and extra features. Just need to know what paypal email to send the money to.

Hello, it's been some time since i upgraded, and realized i needed to do a fresh install.

So, i deleted my files and then de product, after that everything seemed fine, but once i tried to set the channel i got this error

Tried searching for similar posts, but no luck so far, could you tell me what went wrong?

I was able to set everything else, group permissions, settings, only this seem to be the problem.

And if i try to browse my forumhome, it is also dead and prompts a similar error.

Any idea why sometimes my members and I have to refresh the page because it stops refreshing automatically?

I have noticed that the chatbox does not refresh automatically when you are downloading something, or more technically speaking when your bandwidth is lowered and Inet is slow. I believe the refresh is timing out, maybe on new release they can adjust the timeout a little to accommodate slower INET or lower Bandwidth?

It's not up to me, I am not the spanish translator unfortunately.

Yes, that would be nice. It doesn't do it all the time and sometimes not at all, but then sometimes it does.
