I have read all the posts about the images, but i still cant get mine to work

I have one image named staff.gif uploaded to the correct folder. So someone please tell me exactly what i should type to get it to work

Can anyone tell me it this chatbox will allow you to have two of them going at once? The reason? because I run a military forum. It basically helps new Sailors just joining the Navy. Since these kids are hyped up and ready to start a life for themselves, they are also sexed up like most 18yo. Everytime in the chatbox it always turns to sex and how are they going to handle being locked up in bootcamp for 8 weeks. I know I could banned these kids, because I have pointed out several times that the chat is for PG things only. I can't have their sex talk in normal areas that mom, dad, grandma, and little sister can see. I want these kids to have a place to talk Navy stuff, along with their goals and fears but I need it limited to those people only.

So can this chat allow me to put one in the normally viewed area, and have a second one that is limited to those that want to be part of those types of chat?

No, it is however possible to create more than one channel and making it public, private, for usergroup x, etc.

It's because you have the refresh rate set to 30 seconds I think so it's totally normal if for example the user shout 10 seconds after the last refresh ;)

If I implement this admin can do what they want like typing small commands or whole text.

Very usefull post ... What makes you think it's slow ? As I said to another guy, if you don't change refresh rate it's default to 30 seconds so that seems slow.

You should have staff_sel.gif / staff_nosel.gif / staff_new.big

Having to disable the scheduled task bit after each upgrade becomes quite... annoying. Especially when it isn't keeping the current stats. Any chance this could be changed in further versions?

Since I do make a daily backup of my forums, would it be possible to restore old messages?

Anyone experiencing issues with users stating that private chats not remaining private? I don't know yet where this was observed - I suspect downloaded archives but I'm very concerned..

Any guesses?

Can anyone explain if this mod ties into the VB database? Also can anyone speak to the overhead of this mod. I have tested some similar mods and noticed a good deal of overhead from the mod.

I get this error after the uninstallation of the product.

If you set number of days for chats removal to 0 it doesn't remove the chats and thus you don't need to disable the scheduled task.

Well the issue is that chats made since then have same ID as older chats that were in the database so only thing you could do is loose current chat to get older ones.

Hi, getting this error:

Call to undefined global YAHOO on line 8.

It's only an internal error, it shows that little yellow warning icon on internet explorer. Nothing of the sort on Firefox.

It doesn't stop anything from working, but I'd still rather it not be there.

Happens with call from Yahoo server on, or off.

i have a problem , one of my users is a simple member i joined him to secondary usergroup that is for example chatboxgroup , member usergroup only can see chatbox but chatboxgroup usergroup can view and use chatbox
this user can view chatbox but can not use it , how can i fix it? i cann ot change chatboxgroup as first usergroup for him , is another solution?

Alright, so I installed 2.3.2 (or at least followed the directions) but it only shows up in AdminCP. The chatbox running on the site is still 2.3.1. Where should I begin troubleshooting?

It appears that it's the archives only.. not the downloads and not in the chatbox itself (during real time)

I've checked every setting and can't seem to determine why this is the first I've heard of it..

Another question: I changed the refresh time from 30 to 10 or 20 seconds for various user groups but nothing seems to change. I watch the refresh icon and it moves like before after 30 seconds. Any ideas?

I also have the prob that usersonline works a bit weird. I understand there is a bug in that feature. Is it planned to fix it with next version?

- One quickie side question: Is there a quick way to force a new sound? I uploaded a new wav file (new_chat) and overwrote the current one but I doesn't seem to take.. I cleared my browsers cache - re-checked the path and still hear the old one.

Does it still look like that after it completes loading? (Mine looks like that until the chats footer loads and then the alignment is perfect.)

Hum it might be possible that the default permissions that are taken into account by vB permissions are the primary ones. This how vB behaves.

Well what is slow ? The page load or the chat load ?

Are you sure you updated the files ? (refresh your browser cache perhaps your browser is still using old version of js files)

There used to be such problem in version earlier than the current one but I had fixed it.

Normally if you change the refresh rate in your usergorup permissions it's applied, unless you didn't set it.

Yeah it's planned. However next release won't be before june, I am moving from location on the first week of june so have to prepare lots of things before :)

That big gap must dissapear once the chatbox shows the chat and the loading... sentence has dissapeared.

It's because sound was moved to flash instead of wav.

Yeah but the gap should be one or two br but not that much space.

I am still working on optimizations though. Next version shall be a bit less intensive.

Sticky Message Refresh Bug?

When I stick a message in the chatbox or unstick a message it is refreshing the whole page. Can't this be made to just refresh the chatbox itself since it is ajaxed?

Seems a waste to have the whole site refreshed for one darn sticky message.

Can this be changed or is it a bug?

EDIT: Some more info just in case its needed:
-Using vb3.7x
-Latest vBa installed
-Using vBa addon for the chatbox
-NOTE: The whole page is refreshed in both vBa and VB.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring to perhaps take this back to the .wav format - I don't currently own anything that can let me easily edit the file and - well - it's one of those features the users like:

On that note, a /bell with an option in the cp to reference what sound gets sent would be a nifty add-on...

Regarding the Security Issue with the archives: Although I had the newer version, I skipped the update just before this release. Thinking this could be the issue, I completely uninstalled - then reinstalled - and it appears to have gone away...

It's refreshing because it's not just about stickying one small chat but keeping date order and so on. I have made it so because to minimize the oding effort.

I admit it could be optmized though.

To get it back to wav, edit the clientscript/mgc_cb_evo/mgc_cb_evo_functions.js and replace clientscript/mgc_cb_evo/sound/new_chat.swf by the .wav, this should work.

Not sure a /bell is really what user needs. However, I could perhaps add the possibility to admin to select/manage sounds and allow their users to select which sound to use.
