I upgraded to 3.6.1 and now I"m on the 10th page or so on the google search engine, whereas before I was on the 1st page. I noticed when I look at the email sent to me by vbseo (cron job), I get this

Could be a number of factors affecting your ranking. You cannot just pinpoint it to the upgrade.

it's only indexing 2 urls though. Shouldn't it be more? Carmen

OK I have a weird one.... Every time I upload my .htaccess file, it disappears!! Any ideas?

Nothing weird about this. Many servers hide these dot files like .htaccess and .htpasswd.

It's there, it just doesn't show in your FTP client. You can still upload to it, download it, etc.

If you want to really "see" it you need to list the files on your server in a Linux command shell. Then you can see it and chmod it etc.

Ahhh OK THANKS! I just checked and it looks like all is well - except when I run the generator, it says it's creating the files, but nothing appears in my data directory. Any ideas on that one?

You should be able to see them in the data directory with an FTP client, but you won't be able to get to them there via a browser. The htaccess file rewrites the URL so your browser sees them in the forum root. If they dont' show up in the data directory then make sure you have the correct permissions on the directories (777).

I'm having a lot of problems here.

I've already tried this time and time again and got all messed up, so now I've just uninstalled everything and deleted all the files so I can try to start from the start ... but I want to do it right this time.

Can someone help me out with where to upload folders and files. I'm getting confused by the vB-root and forum root.

This is my directory tree all the way down to my forums.

root/public_html/forums

In which directory should I upload the 'vbseo_sitemap' folder.

In which directory should the .htaccess file be.

After running, where do I point the google sitemap too.

If you can help me out with this, I'll be very thankful.

Edit: I'm running vBulletin 3.6.0 if that helps any.

Am i cool to add directories to my extra-urls.txt?
