Was there a fix posted for why it just sits and looks to be loading upon install? I've installed this on 3.8.2 and I can see it, but can not post anything, just sits and loads.

Elric 04-12-2009 06:59 AM

The newest version is loading and loading and..

Please help me, vb3.7.6

THANKS!

Look at the blog php file and have a look at the THIS_PAGE define.

If you only want to show the chatbox on this other page of the forum, you have to put the parameter of this definition and put it in the option in the acp and then activate the show chatbox on defined pages below the navbar.

You have not folowed uninstall instructions correctly ... You have to remove files and then remove the product...

To fix this remove the chatbox files, especially in the includes/xml directory.

Yes this is what I said :) I told you in my message what the phrase is :)

In the usergroup default colors, i can't chose the color that is default for my forum because its nto on the list. So can there be a place where you manually enter the color number?

In the last version it does correct to the default usergroup color, you are using it ?

Adding a color is currently only feasible by editing the functions_mgc_cb_evo.php file, I might consider putting the list in an option in the next version.

Well the list as option stated in previous sentence would allow it :)

Generally people having this issue either had problems while uploading files or installed it wrongly.

What have you done ?

kronnos 04-12-2009 08:43 AM

Quote:

Yes that is corrected but the color I want is not on the list of colors. And the forum default color used for forums is the one I would want. So before users change the color, the true default color is the color used on all posts. So maybe is the usergroup, maybe the list of colors or if there is a manual color picker, should include an option that the default usergroup color can be the default color used for the posts/forums.

Quote:

I would do it by manually editing but it would be hell keeping up with the upgrades and making the same changes all the time.

Quote:

Yep. When turning off the entire BBcodes menu, the smilies from the smiley menu no longer parse. Maybe its just the way it is or maybe some dis configuration on my part.

Elric 04-12-2009 09:18 AM

so, now the box is okay but there is no bbcode and smiley button (in the acp ist on) and in the forum on IE8 ist the box loading and loading but in the vbcmps its working..

Here is another bug noticed at my end:

In the notifications manager i have "Number of notifications to display in the chatbox" set to 20.
In the Chat management I put to "Number of chats in the chatbox" set to "X".

Here is what it does for me:
In the notifications box, it will show the correct number of notifications(at first). But in the last number of chats what it did was subtract the number i last chats to displaye set by me from the number of notifications. So I put in display last 20 notifications and put display last 21 chats. It would only display me one last chat and 20 notifications.

I tested the with number of notifications set to 20 and kept changing the number of displayed last chats.

number of chats set to display/ number of chats showed
30-28/7 and 23 last posts/threads
27-26/6
25-23/5
22/4
21/3
20/2 and 18 in last posts/thread
19/1
18/0

Also, more strange things:

When i set to display last chats to 100 and set the number of notifications to 20

it showed me last 30 chats and about 70 notifications....

kronnos 04-12-2009 01:00 PM

Another issue that needs correction is that if user who is able to see the archives and not a special channel , he can still enter if he knows the channel ID by entering it into the url.

So have to remove Archive for all members as well.

You need to set the very first option in the 'Notifications' area
Separate SQL query for the notifications to Yes.

By default it is set to No and will only show the set amount of notifications you have set as chats and topics meaning if you set it at 20 then 20 total chats and/or threads total will be shown.

Setting it to have seperate queries will split the two and show exactly how many you have set it to show each.

I followed the directions for an install with no chat import. Files uploaded, produced uploaded, lang file uploaded, viewing permissions set, ect ect, by the instructions given it isn't rocket science, or at least shouldn't of been. :) I'll try to redo the install today, but can't imagine doing the same thing over fixing anything.

Oh so you meant I would have forgot to put a condition to check if user has access to the channel if he enters the channel id in the archives manually ?

Sometimes the problem might come from the upload, files might haven't been well uploaded (some users had roblem with filezilla)

Yes. Although they are not able to see the drop down at the bottom of archive page letting them chose different channels, in the link(browser) where it shows channel number, days, and page, they could just enter a different channel number other then 0 and go to that archive.

I am not really sure if it is the browser or plugin related. But before I upgraded vbulletin to 3.8.2 and MGC chatbox to latest version I had autocompletion of often used chats drop down to choose from. Similar to what is now possible with commands.

Is that removed now from the plugin or am I missing something else?

DSMStyle 04-14-2009 02:25 AM

looks like filezila strikes again, some files didn't load completly. Nice call!

A few constant "chat processing" errors coming up though. refresh fixes this, but some members will complain. Thoughts?

Sorry I though I had answered you.

You have to look at the vbblog php files and search for the value of the THIS_SCRIPT define at the top of the file.

Put the found value in the textarea of the acp dedicated to the display of the chatbox on other pages. Then activate the show the chatbox on defined pages below the navbar.

Nope it's there, you have to activate it. If there aren't any command activated you won't see it though :)

  1. Feature Request: Maybe the current time displayed in the chatbox so users can get an idea of when last chat was made.
  2. Problem: The symbol "%" shows as "%" when entered into the chatbox. Whne going into edit menu is shows back as "%". Maybe its because i have the BBcodes turned off andit doesn't parse special characters?

Thanks

haha, that is pretty funny. I guess it parsed the % sign and the sentence really does not make any sense. Here is how it should of looked:

The symbol "%" shows as &*#*3*7*; (without the star in between) when entered in chat.

No, I know command autocompletion is there, and it is working fine. But in older versions it was also offering chat autocompletion. Like if I were to type "Hello everyone" couple of times, next time when I type "He" it would offer me a drop down to choose from with a phrase "Hello everyone" in there.

I have bbcode in chatbox turned off. So no links are linkable, no images, and maybe no special characters?

picamajstori 04-14-2009 01:05 PM

Hi. We finally got the chatbox working (it was a problem with our server). Most of our questions have been answered by this topic, but we have a few questions which we've searched through this topic but haven't found answers to.

Firstly, is is possible to add links, font styles etc to the announcement? We've tried the standard [url=...] and <url=...> etc tags but they dont seem to work.

Secondly, is is possible to edit the background colour of the chat box?

Third, there is a sort of glitch (although perhaps its intentional) in that when users cannot edit the BBCODE the text in the box they type in is black on a white background. When they press OK it appears on the chatbox as the default colour we have set in the admin panel. However once we activate the BBCODE editing for users, the text in the box comes up as the default colour as opposed to black. So if the default colour is light (because we have a blue chatbox), its hard to read the light writing on the white box. If this is intentional, is there a way to change it so no matter what colour u use, the text in the writing box is always black? Or peraps there is another way around this..

Fourthly, is there any way to remove some of the boxes in the BBCODE menu e.g. the Links box (and the one next to it..the T with the cross through it).

Fifthly (and most importantly!) how do we donate? It really is a great mod...its obvious you've put in alot of work for this.

On my test forum I did that and it's working, but perhaps it's because I changed something in my test version :D

You have an option to activate BBCode in the announcement.

Wysiwyg is not active when the BBCode are inactive, that's intentional.

lol that was just default browser text autocompletion.

It's overrided by the commands autocompletion.

Turn on only one of the two options, not both otherwise you won't have what you want.

What did you have before doing the modifications ? Only in a variable ?

Well the browser one is kinda fake as it dissapear if you clear your browser cache.

I could anyhow implement a kind of autocompletion with pre-filled message you'd enter in your usercp for example. What do you think ?

Not a bad idea but seems a bit like over complicating things. I'll just disable command autocompletion. They are nicely displayed in help window, it is easy to copy paste them from there. Thanks.

jobbe 04-16-2009 02:48 PM

My problem is very basic, i hope. I just use the installation importing shouts from VBShout 2.0, then I deinstalled VBShout, uploaded all files, followed the instructions step by step, I had no errors, but the problem is that the chatbox doesn't show on forumhome, even if I activated product and I chose to show the chatbox on forumhome. Any idea?
Thanks a lot in advance
