Hi Steve,
For support with vBSEO - Search Engine Optimization Plugin, you need to ask for support over at www.vBSEO.com The sitemap generator wont cause you to be unable to browse. :) |
when I install vbseo All my directories become forbidden access and I know its something to do with the .htaccess file but I don't know how to fix it
|
Hi mathias,
Does your host allow mod_rewrite? Are you talking about the Sitemap Generator (this thread) or vBSEO itself? For the latter, you need to ask at www.vbseo.com. |
hi, i'm a moron,
i uploaded the sitemap. seems ok. i stopped to ask about this 1.CHMOD 777 the 'vB-root/vbseo_sitemap/data/' folder what do i need to do there???? found the data folder but chmod777?? I'll do the rest once i figure that out. thanks. |

I check mark my data folder, hit chmod , change the value to 777 submit it but it doesn't change. Do i need to do more i.e. ower, group everyone, read write execute etc.. sure the answer is simple thanks. |

i just clicked all the permission buttons and it changed to 777 i didnt receive any errors and it says done. gotta check furhter. |
my sitemap report generator tells me that my sitemap files are in my root (ie. http://www.mysite.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz), yet they are not there.
All my sitemap files were generated in "vbroot/vbseo_sitemap/data/" which is where we are instructed to give write access (which I did). They exist there but my report generator links to them as though they are in vbroot/ (causing 404 error in my case). Does the vbroot also need write access for these files to be placed there? All I did was follow instructions to the T. I'm most concerned if they are being submitted to google from vbroot/ if they don't even exist there. I can't see them being submitted from "vbroot/vbseo_sitemap/data/" since the .htaccess in that directory says deny from all UPDATE: NEVER MIND... I had to place the specific .htaccess code as the ONLY code in my vbroot .htaccess file, thus removing most of my other .htaccess security rules :( ...now the stuff works at least |
probably another question for myself.
i've been reading other peoples reports on submitting to yahoo. but i havent been able to.. I've followed the links previously posted, but no matter what result i input from the submission feedback, i receive an error. (not a proper site or some crap) I'm sure what i'm doing wrong is basic...help please |
does this eork for 3.6.1? or do i have to wait for a port?
|
