Not possible with sidebar, sidebar is either on the right or left.
What you request is a different mod. I'v a commercial mod called "forum_AD" on my website but not expensive it will cost 18$.

Where can I see it in action? I would buy it.

How To Add Blocks To Sidebar:
From your admincp click on "Forums & Moderators" then click "Forum Blocks Manager". Hit "Add Block" you will see a dropdown list of block types. Select the type of block you want and hit continue. Now set your block and save. You are done and this new block should be shown on your sidebar.

Do you mean 2 sidebar at the sametime?

Hi, no I mean 1 x sidebar showing real advertisers on the forum home pages, categories, PM's, etc and then another sidebar that comes up when your in the posts showing Adsense instead of the real advertisers.

I'm trying to move the sidebar up next to "ad_global_below_navbar" - I can do it by adjusting some CSS. The problem is the ad is not centered on the content area. To correct I would like to make a margin in the ad css only if the sidebar is there.

The alternative option is to move the location of ad_global_below_navbar from the navbar template to the content area of every template.
