I need to know how to remove the ChatBox options from the Usergroup management after uninstallation - when I ran the uninstall the permission settings didn't go away and now I cannot modify any usergroups.

Mellymonster 03-27-2009 04:28 PM

Ok, so I had turned the chat off for a moment, adn turned it back on, and I don't see the chat room... This is making me very frustrated *sigh*

Giray 03-29-2009 10:28 AM

My users are wondering if they can someday have email notification of a posted chat? Not in love with the idea, but they asked me to ask :p

Oh boy what a bad idea THAT would be. My members post about 100 messages a minute in my shoutbox. Wouldn't be my favorite thing to wake up to gmail saying "100 new messages" lol.

What you can try is changing the chat text field of the mgc_cb_evo_chat table to utf8.

How can I remove this?

What I need to know how to do is how to remove the MCG ChatBox Evo Custom Permissions from the UserGroup Administration page. I reinstalled the addon and then uninstalled it and I still have this at the bottom of my usergroup settings: http://www.screen-shot.net/ss/664945965867.png

How do I get rid of it?

Well your admin should have read the uninstall instructions ...

To remove this error remove the cahtbox files from the includes/xml directory.

Check your filezilla options, the other users where using filezilla too and had problems.

Try removing files and then upload them rather than overwriting.

Well unless you are not using your ftp software I don't know, I am not behind your mouse ;)

If in Admincp, we have chat as Newest First, in chats display ( i think it is )

Then when we collapse chat it totally collapses, as it should.

If we select Oldest First, which is our users preferred choice (Chats display order)

Then when you select minimize ( ie collapse chat ) the chat collapses and then pops back out to about 1/2 its original height.

Even tho no one is chatting.

Ste

There is no total collapse unless u set the chats in collapsed mode to 0, otherwise the editor dissapear but the latest X chats appears.

1. I just type and read messages, and this was happened!?!?

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/03/9.jpg

2. If I reply, this problem persist!

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/03/10.jpg

3. Others replys also have some problem (you can see that I must scroll down slidebar to see a full message)

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/03/11.jpg

4. This time I just click on any other custom channel, and then return to General channel, and this problem NOW is corrected!

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/03/12.jpg

BUT, sometimes this procedure not helps :( Sometimes, I need to refresh page, sometimes I must close browser,...... I still cannot find reason for this problem..... I just type and read messages.... and sometimes this problem shows.....

I think you have your vBulletin for testing, and maybee you can set input field bottom and older first, and test your chat for a long time.... Maybee, try to test it from time to time couple hours (do not close browser)..... Maybee you'll see this problem?!

I just want to tell you that your chat version 1.5 don't have this problem with this settings!!!!

Issue is when you have a smiley posted in a chat alone. In that case the inner height of the chatbox is not updated correctly by the browser and thus the chatbox doesn't display it correctly and an offset is appearing.

I haven't found any way to get over that sorry.

Check readme ...

You have to remove the chatbox files (especially in the includes/xml directory).

This is the one of many times I am repeating this...

:( In your old ver. 1.5 everything was OK.... I hope so that you'll find solution for this version. OK, in pic#1 is posted just smilie, but on pic#2 answer is just text and pic#3 text+smilie and again it's not display chats correctly. Also, this problem is not display ALWAYS?! I believe in YOU and Your skils (I have use ver. 1.5 for a long time and everything was working well), and You need just enough time and a little luck to find a problem...... Good Luck! :)

Thanks in advance m8

VBDev 03-30-2009 04:11 AM

Yes but between pic#1 and pic#2 you haven't refreshed the page so the chatbox inner height is still known as wrong in the javascript.

And I can tell you that I already searched quite a few hours on that issue ...

I hope someone can help me that may have had the same problem. I installed this last night and imported all message from Cyb's Chatbox. They loaded up just fine and displayed in the Chatbox. This morning I have an empty chatbox. I can go into full mode and it's still empty but I can go into the archive and see all of the messages. I type a message in the chatbox and only my message shows up. It's like the old messages have been permantly archived. Is that an option I have over looked?

nascartr 03-30-2009 01:38 PM

Figured it out, I had not set "Separate SQL query for the notifications" to yes so all of the chats had been bumped off.

opl 03-30-2009 04:32 PM

Well i installed this 2.3.1 on fresh instalation of vb and i can set what must to be shown, but when i save options it make all marks clear. I mean i cant choose what to show coz after save it is making them clear.

opl 03-30-2009 04:33 PM

Thanks a lot;)

Not sure if I'm understanding this. I looked at the mgc_cb_evo_chat table and the closest thing I see to chat text is ctext. Right now its type is "mediumtext" so is this what should be changed to utf8? I'm also not very savvy with mysql so I'm not entirely sure how to change it if that's the case.

I've a section open so none members can post but when a post is created a DB error shows up. When I disable the notifications the error goes away.

I have updated the files to the latest versions.

Any ideas?

My apologies. I'm still fairly new to the adminstrative and technical end of vB, so knowing what information you need would be awesome. I'm using CuteFTP professional. I have 3 of the same image for each channel in there, with the _sel, _nosel and _new suffixes. Is this not what I'm supposed to do?

Thanks for the help, and of course let me thank you for the chatbox. It's an integral part of our forum. Any time it's down for any reason our members blow a fuse haha.

Nope, you have the table encoding type for this field which is something containing "latin" in it and which need to be changed to utf8.

Well I fixed it by reinstalling the product.

However, the chatbox hangs for a few, like freezes up when lets say my browser is set to the front page of the forum, (where the chat is) and I don't move for a bit, it freezes up and I have to refresh in order to see it again.

nexus851 04-03-2009 04:52 AM

I'm willing to pay for brand free if someone can help me out with my "Error : A chat is already being processed, please wait." whenever a guest tries to type something in the chatbox. But registered or admin works fine, just not guests. Please help...

Well apparently one user reported URL (of notifications) not to be recognized correctly by the vBSeo parser but I don't experience it on forumcoding.

Well I thought it was just being inactive, but I got a PM from one of my members today, saying that it would hang every 15 seconds for her, no matter what she was doing. She said if she was chatting in the actual box, then it might give her 15 minutes.

For me it does hang every once in awhile if I'm sitting on a page, it happens different times.

Mellymonster 04-04-2009 09:41 PM

Oh and is the chat box suppose to follow you onto User CP and "Who is online now" area? because it isn't following me there, but I see it on the forums and threads.

I asked my members if they had a problem with the CB to please let me know, well one member posted this... If I get anymore I'll let you know.

The only problem I myself is facing is it does freeze once in awhile, as I've said above.

Quote:

I can't use the chatbox in IE. Not IE 6, 7, OR 8. This is because the chatbox slows the entire thing to a crawl sometimes, and also if you try to type in the chatbox, the text goes so slowly that long after I'm done typing I'm still waiting for the text to appear in the typing box! By the time all my text is done typing itself out, the conversation has moved on, LOL

The refresh thingy in IE is severely broken and "hangs". It doesn't cause the site to hang, it just stops refreshing, and so in order to keep up with the conversation in the CB, I'd pretty much have to just sit there hitting the refresh key all day.

I'm getting "blank messages" from people showing up in the CB, I already sent you a screenie of that.

In firefox the CB seems to run as normal, except I do get the refresh issues happening now and again without reason.
And this is one issue she was talking about a screen shot

Could I have uploaded the "Images in each of your forum styles directories"? I uploaded them in my images folder on the server.

Edit: I can only access my forum as guest now, once I log in I get the vbulletin error message
