As I said in my email, I think you have configured the .htaccess file incorrectly. Also you have not uploaded seourls.php. Please follow the instructions exactly as the readme.txt states.

and i have one question for you also.

on google i have notice that my forum is not listed, only forum but thread its not, what is the problem

see this http://www.google.com/search?num=100...Tra%C5%BEi&lr=

just forum like this http://www.croportal.net/forum/f72-d...one-sport.html

and thread like this is not http://www.croportal.net/forum/t4976...ina-milan.html

Dean C 11-25-2005 09:34 PM

croportal - your threads are on that page, and also on the other pages. The new format probably has not yet been indexed. It can take google up to 3-4months to reindex your content when URLs change.

That's for you to decide croportal. Such are the things in running a website.

Ok Dean you right,

I have missed /forum in .htaccess file, but that is only one I missed from your instructions.

It is too late and I see "forum" everywhere :-)

I am still getting error:
The requested URL /home/www/blabla.com/www/forumdisplay.php was not found on this server.

I have seourl.php on right place (forum root) also forumdisplay.php. Isnt there a problem with missing number of forum after forumdisplay.php? Reguralery it would show forumdisplay?id=xx

I can't do anything unless your site is online and the plugins are active. If you don't want to run this on a live site then say, and i'll exclude you from the private beta. But I need this online for the weekend so I can run tests.

Moncal 11-26-2005 02:23 AM

After upgrading to vB 3.5.1 this mod works great. Thanks a lot.

*Moncal clicks install*

Dean, ok it is live now!
I just wanted to be sure that there is not my mistake involved in install .-)

I also want to make sure about "root directory":
- after my ftp connection i will get to the directory with folder "www". Index page and all script has to be put in this folder ... for exemple: www/index.html is for hompage of my domain. Relative url is /home/www/mysite.com/www/.

As I understand your instructions you are saying
Quote:

3/ Upload the .htaccess file to your forums root directory.
than I have put .htaccess to "www/" which I supposed to have as "forum root"

Just in case I have copied .htaccess also to my ftp root (but nothing has changed). If this harm, I will delete one of them, tell me which one .-)

If i go through quick links and try Today's post, i will get the list with threads.

Urls of threads are rewritten but not accessible also...

Urls of threads from forumhome are accessible but not rewritten...

Please help, because 80% of my forum is not accessible.

OK the hack is working fine for forum title's but not thread titles. Have a look here - www.metalgearforum.net.

Any idea?

Thread are not rewritten here:

- from forumhome (but then if you follow certain number of page it is rewritten)
- from search result
- from my latests threads (but ok this is separate hack)

SuperFly 11-26-2005 02:35 PM

anyone know what to change so instead of
member.php?u=8
it would be like
member=SuperFly.html

Or something like it?

Snake 11-26-2005 02:35 PM

Bah I'm not really impressed about this hack so I have just uninstalled it. I'm going to save up money and purchase vBSEO soon.

Sorry I have no plans to rewrite member profiles, as a) they are not enabled to spiders by default, and b) what value is it, to you, to show a users information to a search engine?

Good for you :) It's beta, if you don't want bugs, don't install a beta.

Zhen-Xjell 11-26-2005 04:08 PM

Hey dean, no worries, good product you got.

Dean C 11-26-2005 05:56 PM

Just need to find a reliable, cross-platform way of translating these accented characters now ;) It works for german, french by the looks of it. But not slovakian.

Ok I'm afraid I have to go home now. Here's a quickfix (assuming you are having the same problem as kafi). Open up the .htaccess file and find this line:

Code:

RewriteEngine On
Below it add:
Code:

RewriteBase /

Glovebox 11-27-2005 05:54 PM

Couldnt get it to work either, I've sent you the .htaccess I was using. gone back to using the release for now.

Adam

Kusadasi-Guy 11-27-2005 06:27 PM

Dean;
i have changed your plugin lil bit and i am using now.
the difference is showthread URLs, i dont like the idea of putting titles to URLs; instead, i am using it as /threadXYZ.html

in this upcoming new version, will you give us opportunity to set the urls?
(title.html or threadX.html)

The whole idea is to get keyword relevance in your URLs. Having it appear just as a HTML file would have very little advantage to you. So to answer your question, no.

The only configurable option in the new version will be whether to use t1-title.html or thread1-title.html :)

Adam

I've had this problem with 3/4 of my testers now. I managed to fix it on one site but not the other two. I'll have to get stuck into the apache documentation as noticably you are using Apache1, and so is he :)

croportal 11-27-2005 09:42 PM

Dean C, why are new post in showthread and not in .html extensions
