I might make it a usergroup setting. I mean, do you really want guests uploading any files? You could get in a lot of trouble. I will make it an option though.

On this i.e. do you know a way of doing either of these solutions

I think this was mentioned before howevr I didnt see an answer.

i have 4 main Categories and under each of these I have subcategories - now each subcategory shows the amount of files correctly - however on the Main Page where it shows the top level categories is shows "0 Files" which is technically correct as there are no files under the main categories only sub cats - however it would be great to either

1) Remove the File count from the main cat page

or even better

2) Add up the files under each sub cat and display this on the Main Cat page

Any ideas please Ronin

It looks like everything is working nicely Ronan (thanks for your great work)

I would like to add some additional features or ideas to an already great mod.

1) is there a way to simplify the upload process?

I would like to make a quick and dirty upload button in a POST screen
for users to popup an upload screen that would allow them to put up
small files of video or whatever along with the threads and produce a
link to the file.

But it would have to be both simple and fast, no author no file info added
etc. elsewise it would be to lenthy to do.

Could this mod accomplish that as well?

how do i go about, once i have uploded something, haveing the type of file it is, automatically show up, maybe along with the description or something.

and my next thing
is it possible at all, to have a new category that only a certain usergroup can have access to.

Okay I take that last statement back :P

There seems to be a few problems but i'm not sure its the code itself at this stage
most likely my installation or options that are not 100%.

When I upload a file, it says the file was uploaded but it shows as 0K in the
file manager section. and when I click download it gives me a page not
found error.

This is a simple request, because for whatever reason all of the templates are by defaulted titles by that one main downloads title I want to know where i can set the title of the category.

I have managed to set the titles accordingly to work with each file but can't find the template to edit and how to put the cat name in the title

for example:

there is no title on that category nor any of the others.

I just want to know which template and what string to use for the category name

for individual file pages i used : {$file['name']} in the header. so i figure its something like {$cat['name']} but if it is i don't know which template to put that title code in :/


any ideaS?

Hi, I tried to install this hack yesterday.

Every changed file ist upped, the downloadinstall.php File was startet abd installes each Files without any Problems.

In my Admincp I try to change my Settings or Categories, but no chance:

hi,

it seems to run fine.

but when deleting a category or a file the count of categorys and files in the downloads.php overview (at the bottom line) still shows the old counts.
it doesnt refresh the counts.

i do have some other download directorys on the server with more than 1000 files.
is there a way to insert them to the downloads without uploading or linking all these hundreds of files ?
a kind of a import tool where i can choose browse this directory, choose files specific files and add them to a special category?
i think u are getting crazy to first download all the files and upload them again or link them by hand.

I'm getting the same error. Its saying the vb3_file_cats table does not exist in the database. Why the heck is this error occuring? The DB is edited by the install file so its not my error.

Anyone?

I noticed on isntall that the tables were named with the prefix twice.

vb3_vb3_file_cats rather than vb3_file_cats

All the _file related tables said vb3_vb3_file_XXXX

everytime i try and update to 2.7 i get some lame sql error.

I changed that one sections and what not, and created that phrase.

but i get this error regaurdless.

Yes, I believe PHP limits to 2mb files.

Your problem is with the name Cap'n Steve. The apostrophe kills it. Maybe Ron1n can make adjustments for that unless someone else comes up with a fix.

Hi, i´ve got several Problem with this great Hack.

I would like to add some Files, but I cannot, because I can´t choose any Categorie for Uploading.

But I´ve got some Categrories, what you can see on the first Screenshot:

What´s my Problem?

I see you are using the german version - I cant provide support for that because I dont know what they changed. I think its great that people are translating the hack, but they may have made a mistake. Try using the english version - I havent seen that problem before.

By the way everyone, I will be back in a week or two with version 3.0.

Just like the other guy, your problem looks like it is with the name Slice'N'Dice as the single quotes kill it.

Some "addslashes" are required by the look of it.

I've just installed v2.0 on our test system with a view to it going live, but I think I may wait now for v 3.0 - what extra features will it have ?

When uploading it pulls the following error

Go into your ACP, Usergroups, and make sure that you've enabled the Downloads page for whichever Usergroups you'd like to be able to view it. I had the same thing happen to me, it'd be nice if a little TXT File was included with some brief information on running the hack.
