No, it can reside at the same level.

Any ideas?

I think it is a cookie issue. I run into it on my sites if I don't use the www. in front.

Thanks for the fast reply. Is their a way to know for sure? What makes it difficult?

The thing that would make it difficult is if the html of the home page is not just straight html. The way the system works is that you can make a template the source of a module, but if the html is complicated, it may not work properly in a template.

shuichi_akai 12-22-2004 05:27 AM

I installed my board under domain: www.mydomain.com/index.php
Can I install CMPS ?

Yes, but it will be under cmps_index.php until you change the index.php to something like forums.php. Once you make that change, you can change cmps_index.php to index.php and it will be the home page for your site. I use it on my site.

Megareus Rex 12-25-2004 12:31 PM

I repeat my question...

Ok, I've encountered a problem. Whenever I try to add new modules, it seems to work (for me), but it causes an HTML tag to be broken at the end of the page (after everything else it has a </html tag, but its broken and without the final > on the end). Although it still works for me for some reason (whether or not I'm logged on), everyone else only gets a white page.

Why do add-on modules like that break that tag? Any ideas?

SamirDarji 12-25-2004 03:24 PM

Is the module php or just a template? Either way, disable the module and see if everything still works. If so, then there is a coding problem with the module. Verify the tags in the template and the php file (if it is passing any tags in variables). Use cLord's basic module as a guide. You can find it on vbadvanced.com

SaN-DeeP 12-27-2004 11:30 AM

I am impressed by the way VB CMPS Latest Topics Display an example is shown on vbadvanced.com.

I would like to know how can i display the same on non vbulletin php pages ? and also control various properties for same. ?

Hi,

loading Time is heavy on my site, 5 - 7 seconds needed if only one user is on the portal.

Can anyone help?

shiva 12-30-2004 07:30 PM

San-Deep: That's a hack I believe, I use the same thing, and it's available at the VBaC homepage as well.
Ghost, can't help you, as I don't know what you've put on your site, but the first thing you should look at are the modules. Some take up a lot of server resources, things like shoutboxes especially, and you may have over did it a bit. Deactive some modules and experiment a bit to see what's the best combination of features you really need, and the server speed. Support at VBa is excelaant, they will answer any questions you have on that. It's generally overuse of modules in combinations that slows a site down.
Beyond that, it may be some settings in VB AdminCP that you may have to adjust, most of them are clearly marked in the descriptions when you set the vboptions. Pay close attention to them, when they say that something may impact server resources, they generally mean it. :)
VBaCPMS does add some overhead, but is quite good overall, better than say a average PHP-Nuke site, and far superior to other CMS type systems out there for VBulletin, IMHO.

How long is the "Do image path" supposed to take ?

It takes a long time, like it's stuck or something.

Hello, what do I do about this? I renamed cmps_index.php to index.php to run and I get this:

Is your forum directory named forum or forums or something else? If its something other than 'forums' you need to edit the cmps_index.php to have the change in affect

Can you help me? Thanks.

Sia Bani 12-31-2004 07:26 PM

Nevermind, I got it! Thanks.

Sia Bani 12-31-2004 07:45 PM

What's the easiest way to add "Home" and "Forums" to the navbar at the top which includes "New posts" "search" "FAQ" etc...? Is it through VB 3.0.3 or this?

Can someone run me through it? Thanks.

Sia Bani: In Navigation / Breadcrumb Templates go to the template navbar and find
Code:

<if condition="$show['member']">
                        <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="usercp.php?$session[sessionurl]">$vbphrase[user_cp]</a></td>
                </if>

and before it add
Code:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="/">Home</a></td>
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="/vbulletin/">Forum</a></td>

Ted, I figure you're the man to ask now that we're on this topic...how do I make another row below the original because it's getting really cluttered now. With future hacks, it'll be necessary.

Thanks again!

RWDF1 01-01-2005 06:59 PM

I just installed it, and it dosent work. I editied all the files but cant get anything, I just get internal server error.

trevelyn1015 01-03-2005 07:38 AM

brian, on vbadvanced, acted like he had no idea...

still can't get this figured out...

Exernon 01-04-2005 03:16 PM

I'm still a newbie in vBulletin so pardon me but how can I add Forums and Home to the navbar?

Deaths 01-04-2005 04:09 PM

To add a "home" link , simply edit out the home URL in your navbar template.
To add a new link , look in the "How-To's" section on http://www.vbulletin.com .

Deaths 01-04-2005 04:10 PM

Hmm , I just noticed vbadvanced.com is down , is anyone else having this problem?

Tigga 01-04-2005 04:16 PM

There is something up with the MySQL server. I've submitted a support ticket to our host, but haven't heard anything back yet. We'll also be moving to a dedicated server this week so there won't be problems with the site going down.

Exernon 01-04-2005 04:18 PM

It's not just actually making a link but I wanted the navbar to show a Forums link when I'm in the portal and the navbar to show Home when I'm in the forum...

I'm not good in PHP scripts so I just wanted to ask how?

Deaths 01-04-2005 04:27 PM

I've been wanting to do that for a long time aswell , but never realy bothered to search for some info on how to do it...
Anyone?

Tigga : Ok , I hope its back up soon :D

Ranma2k 01-04-2005 04:39 PM

does this hack have any issue with Vb 3.0.4 ?!

AlienSector 01-04-2005 04:48 PM

The only issue I see with vBulletin 3.0.4 is the fact that the navigation sides have been removed and I am not sure why as of yet. I did have the Calendar and Newest Topics turned on in vBCMPS, though once I upgraded to vBulletin 3.0.4 they disappeared.

Any idea on this, Brian? I reapplied all the changes to the needed files and checked the templates, though nothing seems to be working.

Edit: All else is working fine, such as the templates and general display, the spacing still shows for the navigation bars, just the nav-bars do not display.

Did you upload the vbacmps_install.php file and choose the option to install only the templates from there?

MotoUp 01-04-2005 06:04 PM

Hey Tigga, since your site is down, mabye you can answer my question here....it seems after the upgrade to 3.0.4, the upcoming events under the mini calendar is not showing anything on the calendar, even though there are events listed...have you run across this yet?

Slapp3r 01-04-2005 11:54 PM

Brilliant clicks install

Add Before:
Code:

                <if condition="THIS_SCRIPT == adv_index"><a href="$vboptions[bburl]/$vboptions[forumhome].php?$session[sessionurl]">Forum</a><else /><a href="/">Portal</a>
                </if>

AlienSector 01-05-2005 07:24 AM

I can confirm this to be working with 3.0.4. By running the installer and choosing to simply install the templates after the upgrade, all is working well once again.
