sportster 01-26-2005 08:06 PM

I uploaded the contents of the Upload folder.
I installed the hack. I edited the 5 php files that it told me to edit. I finalised the installation.

I now have in my Vbulletion Options "Shoutbox Settings"

I have no shoutbox onscreen. I have a page www.***.com/forum/shoutbox.php which works

sportster 01-26-2005 08:28 PM

Got it working on the forum page.Added the adv_portal_shout template.

Is it possible for me to get this working on my VBAdvance CMPS page? I get the box ,but it says URL is unavailable. It points to www.***.com/shoutbox.php iinstead of www.****.com/FORUM/shoutbox.php

snake-boy 01-27-2005 03:09 AM

does this still work in 3.0.6? I am still on 3.0.3 and this shoutbox works PERFECTLY for me - I don't want to ruin it. "if it ain't broke... " - as they say :)

Just installed the hack, and as others asked before, I can't see it on my forum home page. Why?

detalhe 01-27-2005 10:51 PM

Looks like there were a lot of modifications to the hack on these 30 pages, isn't there an updated compiled version of the hack? as I just posted, I installed it and it doesn't show, and having to read all these 30 pages to figure why...........

Did you change the FORUMHOME template during the installation?

Exernon 01-29-2005 09:14 AM

I just ran the installer, I did nothing manually..

detalhe 01-29-2005 09:29 AM

Well, re-run it and at the end you have to edit the files as required before clicking finish ;)

detalhe 01-29-2005 09:49 AM

I know I saw somewhere on this long thread a small hack to put the shoutbox on the left side like on vb2, I just searched it but didn't found. Do you know where it is?

Exernon 01-29-2005 10:15 AM

Done! Thanks!

TMAC 01-29-2005 06:12 PM

Will this work with 3.06?

Thank You

TMAC 01-29-2005 07:04 PM

I get the following error when installing Shoutbox Hack 1.04b

Quote:

mysql error: Invalid default value for 'shoutid'

Does the CREATE TABLE statement have to be changed to work with 4.1.8 ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Installed on 3.06 and everything seems to be working fine
EXCEPT... When using IE if i go to the shoutbox.php to view the shouts or post one and i want to click a smile to add it. Well when clicking the smile i want it will click to the top of the page like it did a refresh. Will get the "Error on page" broken java image on bottom of brower.

Now no matter what smile i hover over the link points to forum/shoutbox.php?#

The smile box works fine anywhere else on the board.

any ideas or help would be appericated.

Thanks in advance

noppid 02-02-2005 05:31 PM

I've spent hours trying to get the advanced editor and wysiwyg editors to work in IE and FF, no luck. I got everything working but FF so far. Like you, my editors else where on the site work fine.

I even have this working in the new, yet to be released, version of vbgarage in all modes in both IE and FF, but no joy here. Go figure.

If I get it working, I'll try to share my findings, but at this point, I've long lost track of my changes.

KanyeWest 02-02-2005 08:51 PM

anyone who can help me please

ambrosious 02-02-2005 10:38 PM

Does anyone know how to increase the refresh rate on the shoutbox? I am using version 1.04. Fresh install.

noppid 02-02-2005 11:08 PM

Shoutbox settings->Refresh iFrame Every x Seconds?

ambrosious 02-03-2005 12:30 AM

Ok, where is that? In my admin CP all I have is Shout Manager, which allows me to edit or delete shouts?

Am I missing something?

Must be, there is a whole setting group in the ACP for the shoutbox with alot of options. It's usually the last option in vBulletin options.

ambrosious 02-03-2005 09:56 AM

Right, well I installed it on version 3.0.3 and saw that option, but not in version 3.0.6.

I'll have to go look at the install to see what I did...

Thats werid. I have the shoutbox settings but now this shout manger??

Where is this "Shout Manger" located at?

TMAC 02-04-2005 12:21 AM

It is in your admin control panel at the bottom of vbulletine options.

ambrosious 02-04-2005 12:26 AM

In the admin control panel, on the left hand side, as a seperate menu option.

Like this...

I fixed it for us. I found a few things that got me closer and closer as we went along. The final fix was to do an edit in the SHOUTBOX template.

There are two forms in that template, both have the name=vbform. By changing the name of the one, everything seemed to work in FF. Other things I can't recall got it working in IE, but I think this one is a biggie and should do it.

In the SHOUTBOX template find...
HTML Code:

<form action="shoutbox.php" method="post" name="vbform">
Change to...
HTML Code:

<form action="shoutbox.php" method="post" name="Xvbform">
This is not my hack, I'm just sharing some ideas. Your milage may vary.

EDIT: I tested the original shoutbox.php and it broke the editor. Apparently I changed or added something important to my version since it works. Like I said, your milage may vary.

iTaLiAnBoY165 02-05-2005 02:37 AM

I was installing the shoubox just as the instructions said load the upload folder to your forums directory i did that then i went ot the link it told me to go to so i did i got this

Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) in /home/iden-pro/public_html/forums/hack/install/his_files/hack_install_b3.php on line 30

Warning: main(./global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/iden-pro/public_html/forums/hack/install/his_files/hack_install_b3.php on line 31

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './global.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/iden-pro/public_html/forums/hack/install/his_files/hack_install_b3.php on line 31

noppid 02-05-2005 02:42 AM

Maybe because you should have the install files in forums/install not forums/hack/install?

Just a guess.

iTaLiAnBoY165 02-05-2005 01:14 PM

I don't need guesses lol I need answers

I guess since I added a disclaimer in case that is not correct, you shouldn't try it at all.

Sorry I couldn't help.

Good Luck.

Are you using the enhanced editor or the full blown WYSIWYG editor?

Just curious.
