It sounds like you have a buggy product installed on your vBulletin. Could you please try to disable one by one there and see which one is a cause of the endless redirect?

Hi, I recently added vBSSO to our vB forum to add SSO to our MediaWiki install.

The connection seems to be fine in that navigating to the wiki while logged into vB will show self logged into the wiki.

However, when manually logging into the wiki and getting redirected to vbsso.php, the page is blank. Same with manually logging out or manually navigating to vbsso.php with any ?do.

vBulletin 4.2.0 PL 3
MediaWiki 1.19.3

When adding logging, the following warning appears.

PHP WARNING: [2] require_once(./includes/functions_user.php) [<a href='function.require-once'>function.require-once</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory on line 31 in file /home/XXXXXXXX/forums/includes/class_bootstrap.php(430) : eval()'d code. PHP 5.2.13-0.dotdeb.1 (Linux)

Any ideas on where to start looking?

Phrost 01-21-2013 06:21 PM

I'm fairly tech savvy and for the life of me I can't get Forum-1-User to be able to post on Forum-2. I've enabled the usergroups from forum 1 on forum 2, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Hi psychonic, could you please contact support team and share your website url to let them take a look? It looks like you have a buggy plugin in vBulletin, however it needs to be checked.

Hi Phrost, If you have several forums connected to each other, is SSO working on them for you?

Phrost 01-21-2013 07:25 PM

SSO works to log a user from Forum1 into Forum2, but that user doesn't have permission to post anything on Forum2.

How do I fix that?

Phrost 01-21-2013 07:47 PM

By the way, I'll pick up a branding-free license if I can get this to work. As far as I'm concerned right now this is still being tested.

What usergroup is user assigned to in your case on forum2? Probably he has not enough access to post?

I think I have this figured out; wasn't aware it created a new user on the other forum; we have massive spam-filters built in given the size of the two forums and that was sending new users into an approval queue.

Still testing with other sites.

Quick question: if you set one forum up as master, can the second forum's users log in on the primary?

If second's users do not exist in 1st forum, you should migrate them to 1st forum. The migration is not implemented yet in vBSSO, however it is in tasks list.

Does vbSSO work with Wordpress 3.5?

I'm running vBulletin 4.1.11 and Wordpress 3.5.0. The VB installation has an old huge user base, while the Wordpress installation is new. I'm confident that I've installed vbSSO correctly, but it does not seem to work.
If I go to the Wordpress page and click "Login", I get redirected to VB, where I enter user name and password. After clicking "Login" on the VB page, I get logged in to VB and redirected to Wordpress. But in Wordpress I'm still not logged in.
The user exists in Wordpress and VB, with the same mail address and the same password.

What could be wrong?

The similar issue was fixed in vBSSO vBulletin 1.4.9, which is going to be released soon. We recommend everybody to upgrade to the latest one as soon as it comes out.

TiKu 01-29-2013 07:58 PM

Ah, I see. Thank you. I hope it won't be too long until the release.

It won't. It is supposed to be released out this week.

TiKu 01-31-2013 08:42 PM

Many thanks for the new version, but for our forum it seems to work even less.
At first I tried to upgrade from 1.4.8 to 1.4.9. It warned me about two or three conflicting hooks and seemed to be installed only partially. Therefore I uninstalled it entirely and tried a clean install. This results in "Importing add-on. Please wait" being displayed forever without any noticable progress.

TiKu 01-31-2013 09:08 PM

I've removed the new hook checking code from the installer, just to see whether this helps - and it did. The AddOn installed, but the link with Wordpress still does not work (same problem as before). I guess it's due to the hook conflicts that vbSSO warns about.

/Edit: Ah, I've also adjusted access rights to the log directory. I'm not sure whether this or the modified installer made the installation work.

TiKu 01-31-2013 09:20 PM

Okay, I do not get any warnings anymore, but users still won't be logged in to Wordpress.
Could it be a problem that vBulletin is installed on a subdomain while Wordpress isn't?

Rolll 01-31-2013 11:55 PM

Is possible display in Wordpress the Pm unread?

Hi TiKu, It's not a problem of subdomain. There might be different problems, for example recently we helped an user who had a broken vBulletin installation with missing files that was a cause for login problems. Please report your details through http://vbsso.com to let support take a look at your blog and forum.

The feature is feasible to be added to vBSSO. We have added it to our tasks list.

ZGeek 02-01-2013 06:06 AM

When I go to upgrade to 1.4.9 I get this error.

Quote:

We have identified the potential buggy hooks / plugins conflicted with vBSSO. If you experience any issues with vBSSO, please resolve the conflicts before contacting the support team.
You need to replace highlighted code with this pattern:
require_once(DIR . '/path/to/plugin/file.php');

Hook name Hook code
register_addmember_process $sfsPurged = false; require_once('includes/functions_vbsfs.php'); sfsProcess();

Hi ZGeek, please fix the code at the hooks to let vBSSO work properly. You should correct require_once with DIR . '...'

ZGeek 02-01-2013 08:25 AM

That did the trick. Thank you.

DefiantComplex 02-01-2013 03:36 PM

Curious, was just the VB side updated or was other plugins as well?

Such as WP and things?

Amazingly happy with the support that was given to us from the team behind VBSSO. Thank you very much for helping us out making the InterWave Studios forums the best!

augrunt 02-05-2013 08:42 AM

Hey guys,

I've recently discovered my Android app wasn't working. Not sure if the iOS version had the same problem, but most likely it did.

Here's what would happen. If I tried to login with VBSSO active with *correct* credentials (if you provide invalid, the error is 'invalid username/password') it would say
Error code error logging you in...

So what I did was I went into the plugin manager and found the VBSSO plugins that hook into login_redirect and logout_redirect and encapsulated the code

Code:

if (!VB_API) {
//original code here
}

i.e. vBSSO Login Redirect

Original:
Code:

require_once(DIR . '/vbsso/vbsso.php');
vbsso_login_redirect_hook();

Modified:
Code:

if (!VB_API) {
require_once(DIR . '/vbsso/vbsso.php');
vbsso_login_redirect_hook();
}

I did that to logout_redirect (since if you didn't, you'd have an error logging out too) and just in case, the login bit too. It works and I don't see any issues! Hope this helps.

Anyway it looks like you have done something improperly during the installation. Please contact vbsso support on their website providing access to your forum and ftp, so they will help you to install the product.

ZGeek 02-07-2013 06:41 AM

Gotta say, I have been running this pluggin on my wordpress / vb site for a week now and its really good. And thanks xeagle for you support for the few issues I had.

djvd-sammobile 02-07-2013 01:25 PM

Can someone explain the vBSSO Access Settings to me?
Allowed User Groups
User groups ids having access to any platform (separated by comma)

Allowed WordPress User Groups
User groups ids having access to WordPress platform (separated by comma)

Associated WordPress User Groups
User groups associating visitors from WordPress platform (separated by comma)

And how come my Admin-group from vB4 can login to wordpress, but regular users can't?
(they should be able to comment, while admin should be able to administer)

Eg. the usergroups are completely unclear to me. Thanks for any help or reply in advance!

furnival 02-07-2013 11:22 PM

This looks great! Any news on making this Joomla compatible please?
