FWIW, I've been getting tweets since then. One just got posted an hour ago. I use is.gd so maybe bit.ly changed something.

LbR 05-11-2011 03:28 PM

Doesn't either works with is.gd

LbR 05-15-2011 06:46 AM

Doesn't seems to work anymore, didn't worked for more than last 10 days

Resolutions of what? Aside from some individual server issues the mod itself is working fine.

SuperTaz 05-17-2011 07:35 PM

Works great, thank you.

jackalopejoe 05-19-2011 04:53 AM

Yep just installed tonight and working fine.... Unlike that other POS one that should be graveyarded.

MOTM Nomination. :)

The inspiration for this came from the other one, dont be so mean.

Videx 05-19-2011 01:31 PM

He wasn't being mean, just realistic. vb.org has no mechanism to mark non-working mods, and will only graveyard mods that can be shown to have a security vulnerability. I have asked about this and been told only that before installing a mod a person must read the entire thread. A nice thought, but clearly not many people actually do it.

God knows every time I tell someone to RTFM or RTWT (read the whole thread) I too get accused of being mean.

Several posts just before mine make it clear that isn't necessarily the truth. So, I was waiting to find out if it would work for me. Since the next few posts are from people who were more adventurous than I and they say it is working fine I'm likely going to install it soon.

Not mean.. Just honest... The other one is what? Broke? Abandoned? Waste of time? Dead? And has been for some months.... Sounds like a prime graveyard candidate to me. :) OR at a minimum a prefix / note / heads up, in OP that it doesn't work anymore.

Phaedrus 05-20-2011 06:14 PM

This works and is easier than the other one, IMO. I think they both probably work, this one gives more options than just bit.ly for shortening, and is easier to set up.

Marked as installed, tested and working. Danke.

sross 05-23-2011 11:27 PM

up and running on 4.1.3 this is so awesome, thanks Mosh!

Is it possible to integrate an auto-delete-function for Tweets, if the post is deleted at the forum?

andycaps 06-10-2011 09:28 AM

HI,

I installed and set up all my API/account in ACp. Set up Twitter application, set up bit.ly shortening etc. The Twitter ~ Tags appear in my posting window, thus confirming I have set it up correctly.

I have created 2 tests and and posted. The thread is added to my Forum but nothing happens on my Twitter. I got no error messages it just posts to forum as usual?

Any ideas?

By the way - I have authorised the domain through the twitter application settings also!

Thanks guys
Andy

Videx 06-10-2011 03:04 PM

First step when troubleshooting is to simplify. Don't use any shortening, especially not the more complicated bit.ly. Also don't set a lot of things in options like hashtags, etc. And make sure you can tweet manually from that account.

Would be more than happy to make a donation upon completion. :)

I have not forgotten about this.... I have been a bit busy and tied up with doing other things. I will look into this in the next couple of weeks and take you up on the offer when I am looking into this. I will let you know when.

Yes, it is possible, but not without extensive edits to this hack. At the moment, there is no way to determine if a thread has been tweeted or not, so would have to write that functionality in, along with the functionality to do the check once the thread is deleted and also add the functionality to delete the tweet itself.

I am not interested in adding this, as I don't really need that functionality on any of my sites at the moment, so I will not be adding this in. If I need it at a later time, I may well change my mind.

To test to see if it is working, there are two test plugins available to test the functionality on the Twitter side of things:
  1. vBulletin 2 Twitter: Test/Debug Module 1 - which tests to see if you are actually authenticating with Twitter
  2. vBulletin 2 Twitter: Test/Debug Module 2 - tests to see if your Twitter Application is set to "Read & Write"

Your AdminCP's Plugin Manager, enable these plugins one by one, follow the instruction to change the userid to your userid and post the responses for both plugins here and we can see what is going on. Remember to disable them again once done.

Methok 06-11-2011 11:25 PM

Hi Mosh,

Just as a suggestion. Could you possibly add a tick box to the end of the Hash tag text box maybe with default ticked. So if the poster don't want it tweeted they can deselect it?

Thanks

- Methok

To be honest, that is not something that interests me at all, as I have already added all the hash tag functionality to this hack that I am going to add. AdminCP defined hash tags are supposed to unalterable by users, that is the way it should work. But if the need for this for one of my sites ever occurs, then I may change my mind.

Methok 06-12-2011 06:34 AM

Hi,

I never meant so they controlled the hash tags.

I meant so as they control if the post gets tweeted or not.

Mmmm.... OK, that is something I may be interested in adding to this hack. Let me think about it for a while and I will get back to you.

LVC 06-16-2011 09:50 PM

Is the Twitter hash mark field in the editor visible to the user -- even if the hash tags are Admin defined? also if you select no hash tags will the field be invisible?

Thanks

Only if you select Only User defined Hashtags or Both User and AdminCP defined Hashtags.

AdminCP defined Hashtags are only visible in the AdminCP.

No Hashtag field in the editor will be visible to the user.

By the way, this hack also works with vBulletin 4.1.4 (which has the new CKEditor).

That does not tell me anything. Can you describe what is happening, what does not work, any error messages etc,.? Then I may be able figure what is going on.

wtf? Since when can we "like" a post on vb.org? I swear I've never seen that before.

Mosh 06-25-2011 11:42 AM

I have now updated the Frequently Asked Questions section in the first post to bring it up-to-date. So, please read the first post before posting, as 99% of all issues will be addressed in the FAQ.

Videx 06-25-2011 04:13 PM

Ha! It looks like basically you just added "Don't use bit.ly" to half the FAQ. A sound recommendation, but who wants to bet the next five pages will be filled with bit.ly related questions!

Jurg 06-26-2011 08:17 AM

Installed without a problem, but doesn't post to Twitter.

bit.ly creates the links.

The debug tool gives the following error, so I can't get debug info:

"NULL
vBulletin Message
Unable to add cookies, header already sent.
File: /home/site/public_html/includes/class_bootstrap.php(103) : eval()'d code
Line: 11"

Any ideas?
