Whenever you see smilies it means an "unknown error" has occurred. First thing I would suspect is your custom style. Second would be another mod. You're going to have to try disabling them both.

LgsOfChampions 08-05-2012 02:24 AM

ok, ty for ur time! I want it but not worth breaking it all down to find the cause lol. I'm just glad I know Im not going crazy for not seeing the edit button lol

rgreene1971 08-16-2012 08:35 PM

I recently added a new rule set and attempted to apply it to a certain section but when testing the rule acceptance I was able to enter the section without accepting the rules. This is with my demo test user account, not the admin account.

I use vB4.2 with standard style. And i think it's quite impossible for screening which mod is responsible for this error.

Problem still not fixed nor addressed, although brought up by a few people.

I just noticed this on my forum, as well. It's the first time I've seen this with a new member.

Valter 08-30-2012 08:30 AM

I'll look into it when I find some time. Please be patient.

Thanks for your efforts! I hadn't heard much about this again so I asked my coadmin and he says these people aren't posting, so maybe it's not a pressing issue.

Quote:

It's still happening. However, it seems that only registrants accepting the rules on current date are posting. Perhaps those showing rule acceptance in "1969" aren't being granted posting privileges?

Aramist 08-31-2012 01:17 PM

Is it working with Vb Facebook APP? Causing IM getting error when trying to reply a thread in face APP.:

An unknown error occurred! (redirect_vsafrules_accept_post)

pachel 09-13-2012 09:28 AM

I'm getting reports by a lot of users that the rules aren't showing up they get empty rules.
While I see them...
What is going on?

Probably a browser issue if you can see them in your account with regular member privs. Have them try a different browser - it could be one of their add-ons blocking things. Of course from your own regular member account you should try all the browsers you can get your hands on.

v5.0.8 - Sep 17 2012.
-Fixed: Incorrect acceptance status for some users

To upgrade:
-Import XML, allow overwrite

fionix 09-17-2012 10:56 AM

XML Error: not well-formed (invalid token) at Line 1

I get the above if I try to upgrade and say Yes to overwrite!

pachel 09-17-2012 12:06 PM

There is another issue that it's not showing up for a number of users. I don't know why...

Just updated with no errors on my end.

Paul. 09-17-2012 02:52 PM

After updating this, the lime ''forum rules'' link disappeared.
How can I get it back?

As far as I know, it's set to show it.

sz1 09-29-2012 08:05 AM

I?ve set my rules to be replaced with the general rules for registration. But if a new user registers (and has to accept the rules in process) they do not appear as accepted. Instead he has to accept them again if he trys to use the restricted functions. After that they do appear as accepted. But it?s kind of annoying if users have to accept them twice. I hope you can help me on this ;)

ThomasBolley 10-04-2012 06:59 AM

any options for smod also can edit

Mr Anarch 10-07-2012 02:45 AM

Installed it on my testforum which I'm using to develop my new project,

Definitely will keep it, works particularly well with Registration Optimisation (which doesn't show the rules at registration).

Is there a way to reset acceptance for everybody? e.g. for when you have a substantial update to the rules that you want everybody to accept fresh.

Edit:
On closer examination I've found the option to do that!

mIQe 10-10-2012 08:30 AM

Great mod. I would like some help though. Currently the rules page looks almost like the rest of our forum but the background for the rules is not there. Plus there's no border. I've tried editing dozens of CSS but can't find the one bit of code that controls that. I've used FireBug to try and locate it too, but no luck.

H3LLH0UND 11-03-2012 06:12 AM

Is there a way to only show this to certian usergroups?

mmodder 11-26-2012 06:04 AM

Thank you Valter!
Installed and works perfectly!

ProjectCamaro 01-02-2013 02:54 AM

How do you change the font color of the link that is placed in the navbar with this hack?

The color doesn't match the rest of the colors, I went through the style editor and can't figure it out.

The hack itself is great though!

If it helps when I edit under the "Style Variable Editor" - "NavBar" - "Navigation Bar Link Color" I can change the color of all the other links in the row that this link is in but the color of the "Forum Rules" link does not change.

ProjectCamaro 01-02-2013 05:19 AM

And just in case you're wondering I am a complete idiot, maybe I should have read this part of the hack ""Forum Rules" text color (blank to use style's default)".

Funny how actually reading through it fixes the "problems".

Sorry about that.

M.C. 01-03-2013 05:45 PM

have issue with mobile template = get blank page instead of rules page!

K4GAP 01-06-2013 04:20 AM

Does anyone have a good example of some forum rules. I'm not much of a writer.

Samsine 01-10-2013 10:11 PM

Thank you 4 sharing this Mod, Valter!
Installed ... it works perfectly on vB 4.2.0 PL 3.

skorgemd 01-20-2013 05:56 AM

When I import this plug-in the system hangs and then I get a "Page cannot be displayed" error. Anyone know why this is and how to fix it? Running 4.2.0 PL 3.

Apologies if you're experienced at this, but if so then your question should have included a lot more specifics besides "it doesn't work". Here's a good place for beginners to start: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=201864

FUPenduh 01-20-2013 03:19 PM

Can you fix the bug where you click "Manage Rules" but get sent to your smilies page?

I've had this mod before so it's not the skin and I have no other mods that deal with rules in any way.

My apologies for being vague, but there really isn't any other information for me to give. I have successfully imported many mods from here, all of the "VSa" mods do not work. If there is further instruction it isn't included with the Mod. The mod doesn't cause any damage or make the system unstable, it simply just doesn't do anything.

When I click on the XML file to import it, the browser will think about it for about 10 seconds and then go to the "Page cannot be displayed" page (which I'm assuming, means it timed out).

This is a fairly fresh install and I even tried it disabling all existing plug-ins with the same result.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ForceHSS 01-20-2013 07:37 PM

upload the xml to your ftp includes/xml folder then you will be able to install it

Gierade 01-21-2013 10:43 AM

After updating PHP on the server to version 5.4.11, the plugin stopped working. When you try to edit the content does not show's rules. Users see the rules, but the administrator can not edit it. Any suggestions? Vbulletin version: 4.1.10.

Actually that may be the ultimate solution. Until there are a lot of people running the latest version - and if they're having trouble with it - often the easiest path is to just downgrade to where everything was working normally.

If it's your own server I can't help, but if you're on a shared server then hosts never upgrade without leaving an easy downgrade option available. Usually this just means making an entry in a server config file somewhere (you'll have to ask them). Of course, if it's a shared server you should ask them anyway because the problem may be in some obscure new security setting (applies to your own server too).

when i click manage rules i get taken to smileys page?

Before installing any mod you must read the mod's entire thread, or at least the last few pages. Some don't work at all and some require special attentions. Before asking a question, always "Search this mod" (look to the upper right). A search on 'smiley' brings up enough to tell you what's going on.

Lastly, before anyone could help we need a lot more info than just "it doesn't work". Links, assurances that you've tried it with all your other mods disabled, everything else you've done to try to fix it, assurances you've read the whole thread, etc.

M.C. 01-31-2013 11:07 AM

is it only me who has blank page issue with mobile template?
