Sounds good. So far, I really like the basic look it gives the forums. Forced me to consolidate my articles forums, which is something I've been meaning to do for a while now.

Awesome mod.

I would like to remove the copyright at the bottom tho, everything else on my board is copyright free so I'd like to know how to remove it!

You can expect a donation in return!

This really is one of the best mods out there. Any way to make it work on multible catagories? It's perfect for our news section, but I think it would be fantastic for our red light district too. :D

RaceJunkies 06-03-2009 01:34 AM

Nice mod!

Is there anyway to change the site Title from 'Articles' to something else...

Can't seem to find how to fo this...

DobieGillis? 06-03-2009 01:43 AM

this is a great mod and Bananalive should take a bow! :applause: (no such smilie here, lol).. maybe in two years!

smirkley 06-03-2009 03:52 AM

Oh yes.... big improvements. Thank you.

For the future,.. can the primary page snippets strip out bbcode as well as urls for links, etc?

It would really clean up the look of the snippets of the articles on the main articles.php page.

Again, thanks!

maidos 06-03-2009 07:16 AM

ifpossible can you includeforum views for each article?

valdet 06-03-2009 08:29 AM

When you view articles in IE the author details area comes across whole page on top of the article..

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

Also any chance for vbseo rules?

This add-on is great and we all appreciate the work you've put into this.

I ditto this, I'd like to change it to "guides". If this was incorporated with changing the content of the <title> tags too, that'd be a great feature.

It's too simple to change that phrase

You need to Search for phrase articles in your Admin CP Search in Phrases and search for articles.

Look at this screenshot:

Thanks,
There were quite a few phrases that had to be changed but I got them!

Fixed ie6 issue - will be included in next release.

It should work without any vbseo rules? But a quick google search revealed this post:

Sub-Forums to the selected 'Article Forum' will be shown as categories.

Edit Template: af_articlebit

PHP Code:

is it possible be able to disable/movethe category Search ArticlesDisplay Options,Most Read Articles etc

Not at the moment. I might look into disabling them.

for now Edit Template: af_articles

Removing one of the following line(s) to get rid of the left/ right column on articles.php:
HTML Code:

<td nowrap="nowrap" style="vertical-align: top;">$a_left</td>
HTML Code:

<td nowrap="nowrap" style="vertical-align: top;">$a_right</td>

Forum index? Renamed from articles.php ? subcategory
You could set up Style Replacement Variable

Add New Replacement Variable
Search for Text : yoursite.com/forum/articles.php
Replace with Text: yoursite.com/forum/newfilename.php

I am going to edit the article postbit more for next version.

Digital Jedi 06-04-2009 06:20 AM

Here's a minor little suggestion for the updated postbit. I was using (and in some place I still am) a plugin that lets me change the first post template to a custom one. One of the things I did was I kept the inline editing ability just by copying the edit code from the postbit templates. It's very handy when you have to make little quick edits to your article after you've posted it. It seems like no matter how much I proof read, I never notice all the spelling mistakes until I actually post.

I had to remove ajax quick edit as it over-flowed behind the author details on the right.

I had that problem too. I haven't looked too close at your template code to see if it was the same as mine, but I fixed that by removing the z-index of the author details area. The editing window should drop down below it if you remove that.

Can we have the ability to disable comments for articles?

That's the problem, I don't want to mix the news section with the adult section. Just thought it would be a great feature to add multi forum ID's to the config.

You should be able to do that just by turning that permission off in the Forum Manager.

GhoHan 06-05-2009 09:29 AM

i hope you can add more...
for no thumbnail like thread thumnail
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=214755

when people post without picture on thread will display image no thumbnail or no picutre at article category viewer.

regards,

maidos 06-05-2009 01:42 PM

thanks alot.
Another question is how ican have a normal forum view when i access from forumdisplay?
Because i wish to have announcement and sticky threads and with the article view the sticky isnt really a sticky anymore.

...thanks, DJ...

Also found out you can just close the thread, too. Yet...as an "article" forum, most threads are informative any way, without the need for comments. Why not just have that ability to turn comments on/off when creating the article?

Also...

I have a few items showing up in the Comment postbit, that I don't want there...but there isn't the ability to remove them...nothing related to them in the comment postbit section of the AdminCP mod.

Digital Jedi 06-05-2009 06:19 PM

On the other side of that spectrum :D one enhancement I'm making to the postbit is a Tcat bar beneath the first post that says COMMENTS.

Saviour 06-05-2009 06:47 PM

I created an article, welcoming users to the new article section...and made it a sticky when I created it. Yet, on the articles.php page, it just moves down to the next article. I know I can sort these, manually, using the tools on the articles.php page, but I want it to appear as the first article on that page...and remain as the first article on that page.

Any suggestions?

Personally...and this is just me...as an article forum, none of the postbit info should be carried over to the articles. Makes it look like a forum...when it should just be for articles. The person who posted the article...should just have their username and time it was posted...same for Comments. I have so many mods I'm using that add things to the postbit...and that information cannot be removed from the postbit unless I edit it in the style I'm using and that defeats the other mods' use in other areas of my board.

I hope you can see my point...

Saviour 06-05-2009 07:07 PM

One more thingy...heh...

WOL reads "Unknown location" for articles.php. This needs to be addressed, as well.

I'll be using a child style with all the hooks, or most of them, stripped out just for that. You can override a users style choice for an individual forum in the Forum Manager and a child style will keep what you want form the parent style and not what you remove. Pretty much what I had been doing all along with the plugin I was using. Still am using it in some places.
