Some people are asking about the Facebook proxy email that the user is registered with on the forum. Users will be able to receive emails if they allow this through the email settings that they can change during their first login or in the user cp.

I'm having a strange problem which has been sort of covered already, however I've noticed something which I'm not too sure how to fix.

If I go to

http://www.mydomain.com

and log in using Facebook Connect, everything is fine.

However, if I go to

http://mydomain.com (ie, without the www) I get the following:

The Facebook Connect cross-domain receiver URL http://mydomain.com/xd_receiver.htm#...%220.168%22%7D must have the application's callback URL http://www.mydomain.com/xd_receiver.htm as a prefix. You can configure the callback URL in the application's settings.

ie - the mod works fine for 'www.mydomain.com' but if you access from 'mydomain.com' it doesn't work as the callback url is configured as 'www'mydomain.com'

I could only see one place in Facebook to enter the callback url, so how is this fixed?!

I mentioned this here - there is a link to a page in that post that will show you how to add rewrites to your htaccess file.

You should have one in your admincp/modcp folder for security.

Regardless you can create one yourself or go to your domain CP and password protect a dir. That will create the file. Or you can download my attachment. Unzip, edit it and ftp it to your rootdir.

jlew24asu 12-18-2008 01:06 PM

thanks TriMe

TriMe 12-18-2008 01:12 PM

The facebook documentation does suggest that you use the domain without the www. on as your callback address. In effect the www is a subdomain and to spam multiple subdomains you have to supply the root domain only

"New Subscribed Thread Reply Notification

seems to stop members from getting a notification on every reply.
Either option doesn't appear to be doing what is advertised as the user should only get a notification to subscribed threads, right?

Anyone have any idea about this?

Yeah I think a PM would be the best way to go. Unfortunately there is no way for the users to automatically join a group or a page.

As Facebook users don't have a password how can I make so these users if made into moderator they can login to the mod panel with facebook connect?

I don't know if its a good idea for moderators to be facebook users. The best thing to do now is to set the moderator passwords and tell them to login through the vbulletin login.

Same here, and I'm getting JS errors in IE7. JS seems to work in Firefox, but I have a YouTube video on the homepage that doesn't play in IE7- but does in Firefox, and I suspect this hack is the reason. There is also a pagepeel ad in JS that works in Firefox, but not in IE7.

Please help, getting the following error in options -> news feed templates:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/nbb/public_html/includes/facebook/facebook.php on line 38

and the following at top of the screen:

Well the thing is our forum hasn't gone live yet. We are a facebook application that has finally had enough of facebook refusing to fix some serious bugs and lack of simple features (You make someone a mod on Facebook forums and they suddenly lose their ability to delete their own posts without a validation error, let alone deleting other peoples posts)

The facebook users we have are all experienced and trustworthy.

Anyway what changes do I need to make to enable them to set a password in the same way that you can set a password still when someone registers normally and then links it to a facebook account

I have a quick question about this attachment

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/12/46.jpg

is this something we'll host on our server? and can we customize this block?

thanks again, looking great!

this is probably happening because you need to install the latest version of flash. It may not look like it, but facebook connect uses flash.

Ah, I've had a look and it's actually 4.4.8

My host's software says it's 5.2.4, guess they've been lying to me! Will have to raise this with them.

Thanks

Jurg 12-21-2008 06:02 PM

Turns out that my host has both versions installed. For those who have the same problem, they just need to create a .htaccess file with the following line:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

Works a treat, thanks for the app.:D
