That's already known as an "issue". I don't think this mod should delete a forum. Sometimes there are hundreds of postings in it...

I've also noticed that, if I manually connect a social group to an already existing forum (via PHPmyAdmin), the permissions changes so that to be able to post in that forum, you HAVE to be a member of the social group, even though it's a public group...

And this is something I want to be able to turn off... As I might create groups on existing forums, but I don't want the permissions to change to only members of the groups can post in the forums...

Change the permission for all usergroups so they can read in public socialgroup forums.

I see no option in my usergroups for "can create forums" or some such setting. I see social group setting and all mine are set to yes. How do I set my usergroup to be allowed to create a forum then? Thanks!

Guys, I just updated to 1.4.2 version and see there's this Display Options module below social group forum. How do I change its defaults? There seems to be nothing about it in SocialForums options.

This cannot be changed for new created social forums via option. you will have to change the Product XML instead.
Existing forums you can change in forum manager.

Baldilocks 06-09-2008 10:34 AM

Love all the updates you have been doing!!

Jon4444 06-09-2008 06:28 PM

Hi Phalynx,

Love all your hacks and your inside sup com web site. I've installed a few other of your hacks, can this one be used as a sort of clan management thing?

Jon

Phalynx 06-10-2008 06:46 AM

If you expand it a little bit, f.e. rename social group to clan :)

I may have a bug, when running this mod and the group has a forum, and a group message is posted you do not see the group message until you refresh the page. Without the mod it appears instantly. Any ideas? Thanks

skariko 06-10-2008 01:56 PM

Hello, i've installed this great mod.
I have create a Forum from a Club.. after i delete the forum and..... now on that clubs the messages are all hide.
How can i show them?

djilou 06-10-2008 03:31 PM

When I connect manually a social group to an already existing forum via PHPmyAdmin, members can read and post messages to this forum even if they are not a member of this forum's group.

How can I fix this?

S7rik3R 06-11-2008 02:18 PM

Woo very nice ~ have been waiting for something like this very long and I will start getting it installed.

Thank You so Much ~

It actually *does* appear straight away, but in the wrong place...it appears at the top of the forum activity section.

djilou 06-12-2008 11:15 AM

Any idea to fix this please?

Phalynx 06-12-2008 11:52 AM

In next version.

djilou 06-12-2008 12:22 PM

Thanks you :D

Captain Tycoon 06-14-2008 01:37 PM

Does anyone have a live demo?

Captain Tycoon 06-15-2008 01:20 PM

Is it possible to make it so that the social forums don't appear on the index/forum page?

Smiry Kin's 06-15-2008 02:34 PM

put them in a catagory that you have hidden imo have a link at the top "Group Forums"

Set display order to 0

Captain Tycoon 06-16-2008 02:02 PM

Strange, I keep getting this error now...(I uninstalled and installed it again)
Quote:

Invalid parent forum specified
Any idea why this is coming up?

Note: The parent forum does exist...

Phalynx 06-16-2008 02:16 PM

That error means vBulletin does not know the (parent-)forum.

BigDog56 06-17-2008 02:10 AM

Really starting to like this hack, Thank You very much! Just wanted to double check something When a forum is created, those posts will also appear in the social group, but if someone posts in the social group and not the forum, it will only appear in the social group, correct?

Make sure in your vb options you have the correct parent forum selected. What I did was create a new forum, put the settings to 'Act as a forum' to no, in other words it's a category, then used that forum id in the vb options under social forums of where the forums were to be created.

Captain Tycoon 06-17-2008 08:24 AM

thanks!

punchbowl 06-17-2008 01:35 PM

Rick

I agree...It should be like orkut where you make threads on the group but it doesn't really shows the forum on the board.....
Just an advice :)

Sakai Ray 06-17-2008 04:46 PM

Looks like a good mod

I was wondering does it matter where you post at and does it show like a normal post or like a visitor message?

That mod creates standard forums. A group has it's own assigned forum.

Animecraving 06-19-2008 05:47 AM

hm... i found a little bug maybe
after you enter social group message the message appear in forum activity instead of Social Group Messages
but after refresh the browser is fine
hoep that this will be fixed next version release

Phalynx 06-19-2008 06:23 AM

Already reported a few posts above you, anyway thanks. Yes, it will be addressed in next version.

Captain Tycoon 06-19-2008 10:18 AM

I dont know if this has been reported already or not but when someone makes a post in the social forum, it does not show who has made the "last post" in group.php. It only shows the time the last post was made.

Phalynx 06-19-2008 10:20 AM

Already known, cannot be changed atm.

ZiG 06-19-2008 07:41 PM

also, i set up subforums within the social forum and it does not display latest posts from the subforums, only the initial forum that was created with the social forum. would be nice to be able to pull threads from the sub forums as well...

That's too bad. I think showing who submitted the last post would be worth the extra JOIN or outright query, if necessary.

On a related question, I'd be great if "Last Post" showed the latest forum post or group post. Can that be done?

Phalynx 06-24-2008 09:43 AM

forum post or group post dependable on what?

Kaelon 06-24-2008 12:37 PM

Dependable on whichever came most recently. For example, if you have a Forum Post that happened 2 hours ago, and a Group Post that happened 1 hour ago, the Group Post details would show (including last poster, time posted, etc.).

Phalynx 06-24-2008 12:48 PM

Let's see what I can do for next version.

globofan 06-24-2008 01:18 PM

I have VbSEO so when someone makes a forum the same name as a board, it takes them to my board instead, can someone tell me how to aviod this? Like some how adding the prefix groups? PM me if you can. thanks

Phalynx 06-24-2008 01:48 PM

To get support, you will need to click "Mark as Installed".

This is already on my todo-list for the next version. It will prefix the forums with a phrase like "SG: "

Alfa1 06-27-2008 01:13 PM

One of my groups has reached the required amount of members to create a forum. But no 'create forum' link shows up. Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

Phalynx 06-27-2008 05:39 PM

Do the creator has permission to create a forum? Check his usergroup.
