It has been running well all day.
One very minor issue...
I would like to have one usergroup in particular have only 'view' privileges. The 'Unregistered / Not Logged In' group. So I check off yes to only the "Can see MGC Chatbox?" permission,and adjusted the minimum post requirement to zero, just in case.
And it doesn't show up.
However, if I add the "Can use MGC Chatbox?", then, of course, it is visible to guests, and functional, as I did a few test shouts logged off.

Any ideas on that?
One thing I loved about the vB Shout flat file system I had was that it was visible, but unusable for guests.

i see this feature in the list "Options in the user profile for the selection of default font, color and size" but odn't actually see these options? can i globally reduce the font size of the chatbox rather than per user?

This would probably be the best chat hack out there IF only it would require so many manual template changes. As such, I'm afraid I will pass.

The chatbox doesn't modify anything in that part and the shout table is not one of the chatbox so I think you posted your problem in the wrong place.

This is what it is about ;)

There is only one template change which is really mandatory (the one for the modifyoptions template) as actually the hooks in the template are not really expanded you know it is difficult to make it automatically.

The other modifications are for the navbar things so you are not obliged to do it !

The first thing is a known bug I have corrected in the current version in development.

The second thing : it can be found in the cron manager in your admincp.

This is not a bug as It is actually not supposed to show on that page as it's neither the forumdisplay nor the forumhome nor the showthread page ;) Anyway, it'll be possible in the next release.

I don't know vba, maybe by editing the vba navbar template ?

The normal way does not work properly because of the pop-up option.

You can put this in the quicklinks section. If you use a forum instead of a forums directory, drop the s. It will open a new page, if you don't want that, drop the target="_blank" portion and finally Chatbox Title is whatever you want it to read in the dropdown.

If you wish to call this from a vbAdvanced page, put in the absolute path instead.

but is there a way for visitors to see the shoutbox but not use it?

As soon as I tried to import the product product-mgc_chatbox.xml, the following error occurs. This only happens when trying to import the product. I first imported the product-mgc_bitfield_custom.xml and it gets imported fine. So I suspect there is something to do with product-mgc_chatbox.xml. Can anybody help?

What do you mean exactly ? You mean the navbar links ?

If this is what you speaking of, then just don't do the navbar template edit stipulated in the readme file :)

What the differences/con/pro of yours and [Ajax] chat box by Dream ?

The main difference between both is the functionnalities, mine as more functionnalities and is maybe a little bit more evolved in terms of options.

Anyway, I would say both are good products, Dream does great work too :)

Maybe you should test both and then decide which one fits the best to your forum as it clearly depends of your needs ;)
