winstone,

what exactly is the db error message? (you can see it in page's html source or receive notification via email)
one of the errors:
Code:

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.8:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT id,name FROM file_cats ORDER BY `order`;

MySQL Error  : Table 'hub_ezforum.file_cats' doesn't exist
Error Number : 1146

as I probably stated, the error message came up when I tried to include DownloadsII plugins, (vbseo_sm_downloads2.php OR vbseo_sm_downloads.php)
I guess your files are outdated because they have wrong field and table names, so as I posted here, when I changed the table names, it started to work perfectly

Regards
winstone

You can get it on vbseo.com site.

djbaxter,
yes, doesnloads log is not pruned since it's stored in a single log file, but you can change log entries ordering in the list to descending with VBSEO_SORT_ORDER setting in vbseo_sitemap_config.php file.

Check with your host that outgoing http connections are allowed on your server (so that Sitemap Generator can perform pings).

i have to pay money for vbSEO???

mykkal 11-22-2007 03:01 AM

I installed vBSEO yesterday and am having all sorts of weird problems.

One is, after i installed the sitmeap generator i check the google sitemap page i'm suppoed to have and I get a 404 error. I have changed the correcy sitemap folder to chmod 777 and I even manually clicked "generate sitemap" form the admin control panel. That portion seems to work but I don't see the files generated anywhere.

The link i'm trying to view is:

http://www.mymodeltalk.com/jobs/sitemap_index.xml

:(

There is a lesson to be learned here... its called read the mod text lol. I installed believing this was a stand alone mod, obviously I need to pick up the vbulletin SEO mod as well.

Thanks for the kick in the right direction Paul :)

expatdirectory 11-23-2007 06:04 PM

This mod should get 'business idea mod of the month'

What a great business plan. give away a free really useful mod but only allow it to work with the product you are selling! Gets my vote :D

Heres me spending all my time trying to get my users to click through google ads, hands up to you guys, its a good plan. I wish I had thought of it ;)

Once I get enough cash together I think I will go for the VBSEO. Anyone recommend it before I buy?

AFAIK, you can install and use this without vbseo installed - as long as you set the correct option in the mod settings.

It IS a standalone add-on. You do NOT need vBSEO to use it.

However, at least one of the options in settings is different depending on whether vBSEO is installed or not.

Oops... like Paul M said above. I replied before I read his reply. :o

your sitemap is correct, I see no issues with it. "does not appear to have any style information" message is not an error since style is not required for sitemap.

mod coder, can you answer me? Is there any special settings that is required in the apache config? because after enabling this mod and visiting any of the .html files gives error. Page doesnt exists.

Apparently you do not need vbseo to install this, there are nulled versions of vbseo out there but the support is not good as you rely on people who are getting nothing out of it and if you get a problem you pretty much have to fix it yourself. I have a legit vbseo and must say that if they want to continue charging what they do for their product they need to improve support. You will get a problem fixed if you have one but it can be a day or two before it is done . Sorry but if I am paying $150 + for something I want better support than that.

mykkal 11-25-2007 05:55 AM

Just installed vBSEO on my site and i'm loving the possibilities. This sitemap thing is really cool too.

Hopefully I can figure out how to get it working for the rest of my site.

I had to add some more to my htaccess file, I added...

# Comment the following line (add '#' at the beginning)

# Please note: you still need to disable the hack in
# the vBSEO control panel to stop url rewrites.
RewriteEngine On

RewriteBase /

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^forum\.yoursite\.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://forum\.yoursite\.com/$1 [L,R=301]
and it worked. Dunno why but it did. This suited my setup so I guess you would need to change it to suit your own.

Before updating it works well

Someone know because this happens?

Pod 11-26-2007 12:18 AM

When I run the scheduled task with the blogs option activated I got an error:

Fatal error:
Call to undefined function vbseo_any_url() in (forum home dir)/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_sitemap_functions.php on line 424

That line is:

vbseo_add_url(vbseo_any_url($vbseo_vars['bburl'].'/blog.php'), 1.0);

The function vbseo_any_url doesn't seem to be used anywhere else in the mod (I did a cat * |grep any_url), and I tried just removing it, and the mod worked just fine (the blog urls are included).

Maybe that function is defined in vbSEO as proposed before in this thread, but this line is executed even if you set "vbSEO installed?" to No. There are plenty of functions with similar names defined, like vbseo_url_thread, so maybe they forgot to implement that one? Or to remove it from that line if it's deprecated?

Well, at least in my case, the mod works just fine with blogs and without vbSEO installed just removing the reference to that function.

DarthCoder 11-26-2007 12:13 PM

CAN SOMEONE WHO got this mod work paste their complete apache config to me? because it gives error on all .html pages for me when I enable the mod. I am sure its the apache settings that failed.

Found the solution guys

had to change in my /etc/php.ini (no apache reboot required)

PHP Code:

allow_url_fopen Off to On

I guess the ping method changed.

Enjoy :)

friend i can open this in where?
im not found /etc/php.ini .
tq

class101 11-30-2007 11:46 AM

could you go in the AdminCP , at the bottom click "View PHP info" and the path to the php.ini is in the first lines, if you have no access to it I think you can build a new php.ini and put it in your wwwroot, else it's usually here /etc/php.ini , /usr/local/php/lib/php.ini
