I dont know if this is the right mod for what I am looking for but what I need is:

I can disallow posts in x forum to be counted towards the members post count, but it still counts their post on the forumhome.

We have a fun and games forum which I believe should not count towards members post count.
Any ideas if this mod can do this or know of another that is capable. Please help me thank you very much!

Yup, I too get the "0" post count issue.

When this mod is enabled the very last forum on the list gathers some phantom viewers. They appear on the "currently active viewers" list at the bottom of that forum even though they are not accessing that forum, do not have permission to access that forum and the access_log shows that they've never tried to access that forum.

It doesn't appear to be doing any harm but could anyone point me the direction of sorting out why this is happening?

If I disable this mod then this stops happening. If I change the last forum on the list to a different one then the phantom viewers go to that forum. It's quite possibly the side effect of a different mod but switching this one on and off causes it to manifest itself.

Any pointers welcome!

thanks

So, I tried to edit the links/images viewing permissions, and I went to edit the post count for all existing forums, and it gave me an error when I changed some settings.

I have a problem with the "hide links in signature" feature.
I set it to zero which should mean it's disabled.
But guests still see this message:
Quote:

To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 0 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Very annoying. How do I turn this message off, without disabling the whole "Links/Images Viewing Permissions" section? Or in other words: how do I fix this bug?

Is it possible to make the forum invisible until you hit the post count? Right now they can not post in it or anything but they still can see it exists.

Using 3.8.4

Am I stupid? All I wanted Cyb - Advanced Permissions Based on Post Count for was to enable me to stop users from having links in their signatures until they had made 10 posts.

I cannot see how to do this. I enabled restrictions on Post Links/Images/e-mails and Set post count requirements For All Existing Forums to 10. No luck.

Please help. Thank you.

Cyb's add-on won't do that. However, what you can do is the following:
  1. Create a new usergroup (I called mine Full Member): Admin CP | Usergroups | Add New Usergroup
  2. Automatically promoted members from Registered User to Full Member after 10 posts using Admin CP | Usergroups | Promotions (I set mine to require Posts and Reputation and Date with Reputation=0, Posts=10, and Days Registered=5)

If while creating the promotion, I select 'Additional Usergroups' and like in your case called the new group Full Member.

Is there going to be a conflict?
Since the user belongs now to two groups, which rules will apply?
The ones for the group 'Registered Users' or the one for the 'Full Member' group.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Good question and I don't know the answer. I recently tried using the "additional usergroups" option for the first time (not based on post count) and the results were a bit quirky. At the time, I didn't have any spare time to waste experimenting so I just converted members in that secondary group to a primary group.

Just wanting to ask a question.

On another forum I help on, the hack installs fine, but the page to set global perms doesn't seem to be appearing. However, on my forums it does. Can someone assist?

aceofspades 11-12-2009 09:57 AM

Hi! Can someone please help me out. Im trying to change the error message that the users see when they try to post, is someone able to help me with this?

krimesis 11-30-2009 08:14 AM

I plugged in all the forums now how do I remove some that I do not care?
Thank you.

Thanks for this - You don't know how much sh1t I have avoided by installing this on our site. We now have somewhere safe to 'bury the bodies' without deleting, so the site looks more inviting to new members, without upsetting posters by deleting....

I second this! I can no longer limit link posting by post count now that I've upgraded to 4.1.10.
