Thanks for adding the link I should have posted it.

I have a small Problem as I never had problems with this ad on. I have searched this forum but just not seeing the answer to fix this.

Warning: view_ad(/home/xxxxxx/public_html/forum/includes/lib-xmlrpc-class.inc.php) [function.view-ad]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /includes/init.php(319) : eval()'d code on line 68

Could someone please tell me what I would need to do to fix this. Thanks

I Get in when I try and add the ad tag in the header

NEVER MIND I HAD TO ADD THE SERVER PATH AND NOT THE HTTP PATH TO SERVER SETTINGS IN VB

NathanLedet 01-30-2007 09:29 PM

Installed, works...However, I've noticed a huge decrease in load time. I talked with a person that runs a completely separate forum and runs phpAdsNew as well and reported the same thing. Any ideas how to increase the load times?

EdQ 01-30-2007 09:50 PM

I use compact statistics which seem to help.

NathanLedet 02-02-2007 01:03 PM

A forum using this add-on I upgraded last night, 3.6.0 to 3.6.4. Upon upgrading, i get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: view_ad() in /home/content/i/h/a/ihaveaforum/html/forum/global.php(559) : eval()'d code on line 10

I've browsed this thread for similar errors and found a few instances of people who had the same error but simply replied with "solved"..no explanation on how they fixed it.

This code pretty much broke the web site. I've disabled hooks in config.php, the Admin backend does not work so I cannot disable it or remove it from the Admin CP...

help is very much appreciated

gusfune 02-06-2007 02:26 AM

Didn't work for me, i had to generate my own code because the <ad /> was showing only a blank square... Hope this system us updated for Openads and for Vb3.6.4

NathanLedet 02-06-2007 02:27 AM

What did you have to do?

EdQ 02-06-2007 02:31 AM

I must be lucky, still works for me on 3.6.4

Had to go into openads (aka phpmyads) webpanel, go to inventory and select generate code (something like that, my panel is in portuguese).
Ask it to generate a Remote code, it will be a HTML code with <a tag>etc, etc</a>.
Grab this code and put on yout VB style where you want your ad to be exibted.

This will work for sure, but if yo uwant advanced capabilities like this hack does (like restrict to usergroups, etc) you'll have to code by yourself.
HINT: <if> tags may be really helpful in case you're doing it.

What's your phpmyads/openads version? It's really not working for me... Using the latest relase of openads...

EdQ 02-07-2007 04:31 AM

From openads

You are currently using Openads 2.0.11 running on Apache 2.0.52, PHP 4.3.9 and MySQL 4.1.12-log

phpAdsNew has a new name: Openads

Is it compatible?

It's the same system, it's compatible.
Some people got this hack working, but others (like me), are having problems: ad not showing up

Nick0r 02-15-2007 07:17 PM

Does anyone know if this supports "text under banners"?

NathanLedet 03-07-2007 12:49 AM

I'm running PhotoPost and have a plug in which displays the latest uploaded pictures on my portal home page (jig)...

so I have vBulletin, vbPortal, PhotoPost, and a plug in which displays the latest photos.

for some reason when I enter the code <ad what="zone:1" />, my pictures disappear and i get the following errors where the latest photos should be:

Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /Gallery/inc_features.php on line 67

Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /Gallery/inc_features.php on line 143

Any ideas why this is causing a conflict with PhotoPost?

jw00dy 03-08-2007 08:43 AM

I run the same setup, and the ajax mods don't transfer over to vbP, so you'll just have to put the normal code from OpenAds in there if you want it to work.

Or you can hit up the vbP guys for some help getting it to work on vbP, but I didn't feel it was worth their time when I could just use the normal code and be done with it.

Still new to OpenAds...what's the "normal code"? will it still rotate banners? track impressions and clicks?

Gsmdenis 03-08-2007 01:52 PM

very good , for this , i have just test

Yes, they will still rotate.

In openads the code is supplied and called invocation code I believe (can't remember exactly). I think it's right after you setup the banner. You then edit your header template and add that code there.

Hi Guys,

I tried to install the hack but I'm getting the following messages:

Can someone please help? I've had tons of trouble getting phpadsnew to display properly on vBulletin. Any help would be appreciated.

jw00dy 03-12-2007 11:38 PM

Your openbasedir config isn't allowing the location that you have installed openAds to.

So you need to edit httpd.conf and add the location that you installed openads to or move the openads location.

I know nothing of your config, but usually their is an httpd.conf for each user so you can fix it for one account and not all.

Good luck.

shunx91 03-13-2007 07:47 PM

jw00dy,

Thanks for your help. Is the httpd.config a part of phpadsnew or vbulletin/ Also where can I find it and what should I look for inside? Thanks for your help.

jw00dy 03-14-2007 08:13 AM

it's a part of neither. httpd.conf is the configuration file for apache webserver.

The other option is to install openAds in a location that's not restricted (meaning it's already allowed in openbasedir.

I can already tell you need to just remove it and then install it in a normal location like public_html/openads/ or public_html/forums/openads/ or something along those lines.

shunx91 03-14-2007 08:49 PM

Thank you sir!

I was able to forward your feedback to my tech and he was able to help me solve most of the problem. Thanks again!

jketron 03-19-2007 05:05 PM

How do you get openads to display on the left sidebar?

dholt 03-23-2007 01:21 PM

Default banners are displaying good.

I created a user account to added a Banner and it is not showing.

as of now it is displaying the Default banner but what do I do so it rotates the Default and the new banner that I just added?

I added the banner to the header template using the <ad what="foo|bar" />

do I need to change this to make it display both ads

jjj0923 03-26-2007 05:12 PM

what is the advantage of using this plug-in over just inserting the generated javascript by phpads ad I've been doing for the last 4 years?

thanks in advance.

jw00dy 03-27-2007 08:34 AM

The advantage to me is that I don't have to modify my templates to change ads.

I can using openads, change them if I please. If I change my channel, I just update openads with the new code for that zone and I'm set. It really makes it easy.

You can also run more then one type of ad in the same spot, as openads will take care of rotating to a different ad size for you. So you can run full banners, half banners, and leader board banners in the same spot. Just add 3 different banners tied to the same ad space and you're golden.

This adds the code so that setting up your locations is easy using either keywords or zones. I recommend it.

Fred. 03-31-2007 12:37 PM

I upgraded from PhpAdsNew to the lastest Openads
And now a have a problem.

The banner image don't show

When i go to properties
i get this

Look at the URL (that's the problem)

I have tried different things but stil no solution

I hope someone can help me.

dholt 03-31-2007 01:07 PM

Have you checked the path in server options in Vbulletin. also in php adsnews have you checked the path to the banner.

Have you tried to uninstall and re install the phpadsnew 1.0.4.xml file then reset in server path to it.

1.0.4

1. Import product as usual, with "Allow Overwrite" set to Yes.

I have tried all above.
Stil the same problem.
But i use vBSEO, i think that VBSEO rewrite the url's.

dholt 03-31-2007 02:24 PM

I use vBSEO also and no problems with it. you could try a fresh install and drop the tables for it in phpmyadmin and start over.

I use a separate db for it so hopefully it will be as easy for you as it was for me as it only took me 3 min to delete and reinstall it.

sorry I could not have been more help but hopefully someone else can.

Rather than searching through 20 pages of posts, I will ask what has probably been already asked on each page... Does this work with 3.6.x?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, i use vBulletin 3.6.5 :)

LWillmann 04-13-2007 04:10 PM

I'm having a problem with this...

I'm running vBulletin 3.6.5, vbPortal 3.6.3, PhotoPost Pro, and Zoints Local on my site.

I installed the latest version of PAN (OpenAds now) and installed the XML file here. I set the folder for PAN in the AdminCP, and made the template edits.

The vbPortal uses it's own footer template, and that's different from vB's footer template. So I placed the <ad what="zone:1"> in both where it's supposed to go.

The ads are displaying on the portal page, but not in the message forums or the photo galleries pages.

The site is:
www.minixriders.com (works on home page)
The forums are located at www.minixriders.com/forums (there's a link on the home page, and the ads do NOT work on these pages).

I have tried a relative path (relative to the forum home path) "../sponsors", and I've tried the full physical path "/home/..........." both with and without the trailing slash and neither has worked for the forums pages.

But the portal page seems to work just fine, and I'm using the same template commands.

eLsGn 04-18-2007 12:46 PM

drar sir

i cannot remover ur hack every time i try to remove i still have Adsense Banner Settings in my setting panal

rookiyong 04-22-2007 02:57 PM

Just installed this great mod and got it working :)

But I have an issue here. As I am using the "resize image" mod the vBA page, my resized images are all 400pixels. When I have the banners up, they are being reized also.

Is there a way to add an "id" to the </ad> tag? I tried to do this, but it didn't work.

Quote:

<ad what="zone:1" id="topbanner" />
appreciate any help here :)

btw, is there a way to rotate banners? I run throught the posts but it seems like many of you encountered problems.
