The funny thing is a vb developer did a similar mod to this one :D His doesn't allow you to select which forums you want on which page. It does it based on a count. I think Steve may have misunderstood your question because you originally asked about using different domains.

tyfoon 06-22-2006 02:57 PM

No I send him a reply on the ticket and he said even if I us only one domainname (and the ?page=2)behind the index.php I need TWO licenses.

Upon discussion with Jelsoft staff, the use of this hack COULD violate your license - depending on how you use it. If you're just splitting up a long list of forums into multiple pages, that's one thing. If you are tying to make each page look like a different board - that's not allowed.

If you question your own specific use of the mod, it's best to ask Jelsoft directly regarding your planned implementation.

Can you please tell me if i am able to rename the page numbers into names that are more relevant. I.e If i have my outdated forums on page two, can i now re-name page2.html as old.html?

Thank you

Yes, you could do it using mod rewrite. can't tell you how specifically, but you could do it.

Amy, works perfectly on 3.6 Beta3 ...

You could even use a different language and style like

forum.php?langid=2?page=2?styleid=45

but again, it might violate licenses .. but it is perfect. I was looking for a solution running two instances of vbulletin using the same database and now I found this one .. once again - thanks :)

Unfortunately in my experience, using the styleid in the link sets the user's style for the entire board to that style.
On my site (a multi-game site) the idea was one style per game and a general "main" style for the front page. Users were not allowed to change their styles, and the styleid links didn't even work for them.
When I allowed them to make the changes, they ended up with the front-end being themed the same way as the last game section they had looked at :(

It does seem though as if allowing a style-per-page would break the TOS/EULA which is a pretty big drawback from Jelsoft's end IMO.
As far as I'm concerned if I pay for the software I should be able to mould it to fit my site in such a way. It's not as if I'm using different databases, just different styles.

So why not using the option Style by forum them ?
In the forum iteself you can force a specific style .. once they going back, they have their old style (assuming you set overwrite to no)

Lost_Prophet 07-03-2006 04:30 PM

That's what I do. But the idea was for each page (containing two different catagories) to have its own theme.

At last the final answer regarding multiple license and this plugin

One of the Devs took a quick look at that plugin and said as long as it's possible to get back and forth via the forum jump then this should fit into the license agreement.
