That won't be this style causing the error, maybe you have another mod (I am guessing Hidden Posts) that hasn't been properly updated?

SirGeo 02-23-2010 02:47 AM

hmm.. starting checking around.. seems "merge double posts" addon was still on... Turned off.. and so far so good..

I'm loving this style!!!!

Edit FORUMDISPLAY template.

Find:
HTML Code:

<!--VBSEO_RR_2_NOHTML-->
Replace with:
HTML Code:

$foruminfo[title_clean]
If you have vBSEO installed, you'll want to just define <!--VBSEO_RR_2_NOHTML-->.

Perfect fix.!!

That bit really wasn't made clear.

Well thats Awesome.. lol

Are all these people who say "this skin is great" actually using it, or are they all just employees of vBseo.?

WTF, marked UN installed, & rated as low as it will let me.!!

Or just people not having any problems with it.

I am a little more calm now, but there is no way anyone installed this with zero problems.
Dont get me wrong i think it looks cool, but it has a LOT of issues with it, that could EASILY be explained a little bit more in the first post.

- Overwrites a lot (but not all) default buttons
- File used to make edits doesn't exist (vbseocp.php)**

Those 2 issues are not the worst things in the world, but could've EASILY been noted in the first post. (correct me if im wrong)
** Could be part of the problems people are having.
Not to mention the other issues im having, which im not trying to blame this style/mod (cuz im no expert), but they weren't issues before. lol
I have lots of modules that aren't working on my CMPS page.

Maybe it was fairly easy for you, a very knowledgable vB owner, but i know even you had to have some issues that could've been avoided.

Maybe its the product that is causing all the problems, but then they could say "if you just want the skin, do not install product"

I'm not trying to complain about something for free (even though i am), but if no one ever said anything this place would be full of crap, that never got fixed, or improved.

They could have been, had they come up during design. Having designed a few styles myself, I know that problems will only develop once people start using it. It doesn't have anything to do with being an experienced admin. People with no experience just as easily didn't have any problems as you did have a couple. There's no way to know how every skin will react with every forum, with every .(point) version of vBulletin they want to run it on, with every unique combo of mods, with every unique .htaccess rules, etc, etc. Also, not everyone uses multiple skins, so if they only ever used this one, they would have never had a problem with it overwriting anything.

Gamelobby 02-27-2010 06:55 AM

Understood, but dont you think they knew it was going to overwrite the default images when they put it up.? (i bet 99 out of 100 styles on here dont do that)
Also, that the edit/setup file was (and is still) missing from the zip folder.?

My boards are not heavily modified, but i understand mod combinations, & compatability, etc. but those 2 issues alone, seem wrong to have to deal with.

I'll get it worked out on my own, but it just seems to me that the sole purpose of posting this mod/style is to get people to register/buy their other versions to help fix this version.

Once you've already lost your default images, & have gone threu the process of installing it, to find out the editing file is missing. There isn't much choice except do all the leg work to get it to work, or register on vBSEO & work with them.. and possible buy a newer version.!?

I guess im just trying to MAKE SURE people know what they're getting into before they install this style/mod. Its not just another skin (some are much worse. lol)

PS. Dont you think that your AME mod is much more difficult of an install & to configure than this skin should be.?
I didn't have even close to half the problems/issues with it as i did with this style.

I'm just sayin'

I think most likely this style was just being deprecated.
