The mod that moves it to the top, doesn't work on this latest version. I'm going to post something over on that other thread, to see if he can give us an update.

Never mind, you beat me to the punch. I don't have the old version though, so I'm stuck at this point.

Often one or more members appear to be in the chat, but when one logs in to the chat, there is no one there. Or even worse; it seems as the member(s) leave just as one comes in. Is there a fix for this?

You would need to ask Tufat that, that's a 'feature' of how flashchat works

I have uploaded the XML file to the admincp file of my forums, and I have gone to the Forum Listing Display Option and I am not seeing the option show up for me to turn this on.

What am I doing wrong?

I uploaded the XML file into the "public_html", "forums", "admincp" folder

No, delete that.

In the ACP > Plugins & Products > Manage Products > Add/Import Product.
