Yes, it's the real deal. I need to make a few more tweaks before adding it to the general release but it is good to go for your situation.

Looking at the old template it calls the author like this

Attached is ecDownloadsII ver 5. I went up to version 5 so people wouldn't get confused with version 4 being the last version of ecDownloads.

Please PM me with any problems or to let me know it works good. Please DO NOT discuss ver 5 here (yet!)

What it does:

Adds everything from ecDownloads Buddy back into ecDownloadsII.
Plugs a security hole that could be used for a DOS attack.
Completely re-writes the method for downloading files.
Cleans up the "Downloads" section of the admincp (thanks EvilHawk!)
Permits safe_mode to be on

No old templates are changed although a new one is added. If you are using ecDownloads Buddy, you MUST uninstall the Buddy before installing this.

EvilHawk helped me with some phrases that went screwy and some edits that I did but then included the wrong @$%@%# file.

Here's a new ver 5 file for testing.

Instead of getting uknown on my old downloads it's shows the authors name but it's not linked. Just the new downloads are.

Is it ok to change this code, Let me know.

Hay i was using Ron1s 4.1 version.
I uploaded your downloads.php as you said by overwriting the existing. (Thats only thing i did)
Then i add the ecdownloads buddy thats all.

When i click on Update Counters it says

i can change chmod only to 3-letter code.
