Hi there,

we have a couple of bigger forums with vbseo.
today i started to install this Addon but it seems not to be coded for big forums.

Just for fun I increased max_execution_time to 120 sec but this is still not enough for that forum with Threads: 28.255, Posts: 445.389, User: 7.443

I found here the workarround: using of ssh and running the script in the shell but i don't really like this.
I would prefer if we could run this inside vbulletins cronscripts.

Will there be an update for that in further future?
It would be really nice.

Code:

[SECTION START] showthread [3,177.2Kb mem used] [0s (+0)]
[create sitemap file] filename: sitemap_1.xml.gz, number of urls: 50000 [2,932.8Kb mem used] [32s (+31)]
[create sitemap in text format] part #2 [2,932.7Kb mem used] [32s (+0)]
[create sitemap file] filename: sitemap_2.xml.gz, number of urls: 50000 [2,933.2Kb mem used] [65s (+33)]
[create sitemap in text format] part #3 [2,933.1Kb mem used] [65s (+0)]
[create sitemap file] filename: sitemap_3.xml.gz, number of urls: 50000 [2,934.1Kb mem used] [89s (+24)]
[create sitemap in text format] part #4 [2,934.0Kb mem used] [89s (+0)]
[create sitemap file] filename: sitemap_4.xml.gz, number of urls: 50000 [2,935.4Kb mem used] [127s (+38)]
[create sitemap in text format] part #5 [2,935.3Kb mem used] [127s (+0)]
[create sitemap file] filename: sitemap_5.xml.gz, number of urls: 50000 [2,936.3Kb mem used] [169s (+42)]
[create sitemap in text format] part #6 [2,936.2Kb mem used] [169s (+0)]
[create sitemap file] filename: sitemap_6.xml.gz, number of urls: 50000 [2,937.0Kb mem used] [224s (+55)]
[create sitemap in text format] part #7 [2,937.0Kb mem used] [224s (+0)]
[create sitemap file] filename: sitemap_7.xml.gz, number of urls: 50000 [2,939.0Kb mem used] [263s (+38)]
[create sitemap in text format] part #8 [2,938.9Kb mem used] [263s (+0)]
[create sitemap file] filename: sitemap_8.xml.gz, number of urls: 50000 [2,940.2Kb mem used] [307s (+44)]
[create sitemap in text format] part #9 [2,940.1Kb mem used] [307s (+0)]

I have it installed on a bigger forum than yours with 11,000 members, 58,000 threads and 600,000 posts and it runs fine. You run it once per day. It takes very little time to run on our system. I don't know what problem you have. But I would say it's something wrong on your end.

I think it would be best to change the thread prefix to 3.6.0 to stop confusion and questions ;).

Kai77,

What time of day are you running this. I would suggest bumping the number from 50,000 to 40,000, and running it when your site is least busy.

If you run it when your processor is already working hard, it's not going to make very good time when it has to do this as well.

My forum has about 10,000 members and it's been runnign without a problem for about 2 months now. I run mine at 5AM local time since that's after backup's are done and it's still not very busy.

i tried to run the cronjob manually at daytime but
even at 2AM the script hits the max execution time.
This is not even our biggst forum so it won't work for our other forums less than ether :(

Kai77,

you can try to run sitemap generator from command line (system cron rather than vBulletin scheduler)

UZFRED,

thanks :)
it looks like there is no option for vB3.6.0 on "edit modification" page though

you probably have to create a new one in vb3.6 forums. Then you'll have the option. Is see most guys have it in both places to keep them separate.

What is the difference between this hack and what you offer on www.vbseo.com? Do I have to purchase vbSEO from the other site in order to use this plugin?

vbSEO actually works with this hack. They work together for extra optimization. I just installed vbSEO today..It has a million good options for configuration.

I have a question..I just installed this plugin..but under Task Manager it says "products" all the way at the bottom.. Should i select vbulletin or the vbulletin SEO option?

Theres actually 3 options. "vbulletin" , "VBseo" , and "VB sitemap generator".

Any help would be great.

Hi Mike,

There should be only one Scheduled Task associated with this Modification : "vBSEO Sitemap".

All times are GMT. The time now is 12:14 AM.
