Tks Jedi, appreciative you took the time to assist.

For Q1, users are prompted to select their own nick if they are new upon connecting using their FB account. Why can't they log in using their nick if i choose to disable the mod in the future?

This also means that if FB decides to play punk and forbid external connections in the future, we'll all lose our members who have joined using FB connect?

No. You would either have to modify the accounts manually, or wait for someone to make a system that will port them over. As of now, there's no way to do that.

Are you still logged into Facebook? Could be a cookies issue.

Yes. In fact, that's one of the options ticked off in the first post under the mod info.

It doesn't make any edits to your post tables, so I wouldn't see why.

The same thing that happens to your existing registered users when you first created those compulsory fields, or when you create a new account through the Admin CP. They'll be prompted to fill those in the next time they log in.

They actually can BUT the problem is the password as its a random string. If you can display them their Facebook proxy email address you can get them to use the Forgotten Password link and get the password.

The easiest way is to remove the if statements that check is they are a Facebook Connect user in the Templates relating to the password and email changing. Then they use the proxy email to get the password and then change the password and email address.

This will not prevent them logging in with their Facebook account, rather lets them login via a username and password or their facebook credentials

wow, tks for the analysis. pretty huge disadvantage of using this then. we cld potentially lose lots of members if FB decides that it was not profitable to them to allow external connections. we wld be at their mercy.....

tough decision :erm:

I agree that's a serious limitation to an otherwise killer mod. I can't take the risk myself either. I mean if I stopped using this mod, all my Facebook signed-up users would be out of luck. No way around that?

How do I make Facebook Connect only available for already registered Users?
So everybody have to do the normal registration and after that they can connect to facebook.

Where can I finde the files to translate?

Thx

Benjamin Kramer

Not until someone develops an export system.

Hi,
how do I forbid Facebook Connect registration (for not registerd users). I only want that existing users can connect with their account, and that they can login with facebook connect.

Thx
Benjamin Kramer

yes, that is a very feasible solution to a very serious flaw. :)

He said he agrees with you.

But as it stands, I think the mod would have to be rewritten to accomplish that.
