thank you .

i suspect its not a zoints problem but some db misleading in vb .
even other plugins ive install , all nav bar lead to old or deleted /forums dir.

I am assuming someone picked up your ticket, but even if it's not a Zoints problem hopefully we can help troubleshoot as to what the problem could be as we of course have experience with vBulletin in general and other modifications.

Hey WEBclay,

vB has a built-in system for promotions (I can't remember if that's the right terminology, but I think it is) where you can define different levels to get promoted to another usergroup. I had a big problem on my site where new members spammed my members via PM so I was able to create a new usergroup without PM permissions that could only be attained with 5 days of registration on the site and 50 posts. So what you could do is to make a new usergroup for the people who can't view profiles with the minimal postcount to get promoted to the usergroup where profile viewing is enabled and thus viewing the Zoints Local profile. If you need help on that, I could try walking you through it (I was just speaking off of memory here.)

I asked a few months ago for the problem with Greek characters in the usernames. The Zoints local produces a "special characters in username" error when you try to see the profile of a member that uses Greek characters in their username.

Any updates on this?

No update I am afraid to say, but would you providing an example (and pointing out what's wrong) so I can pass it along to the engineers to look at?

Thanks Defkalion.

Hi, Just installed this and so far am impressed!

Can anyone advise though on where I can browse and download zoints blocks?

In the VB Admin panel, Theres only one page relating to zoints that can be accessed via VBOptions - all the rest is done via the admin panel on the zionts page - is that right?

Edit - One more thing, quite an important part of my forum and the users profile is Farcasters Event Attendance - This lists in their profile if they will be attending an event. Could anyone really help and suggest how this could be added into a block? I really dont have the knowledge to do something like that :(

To download third party blocks, please visit dev.zoints.com

And that is correct, there is one page within vB Options for Zoints Local and the rest of the management of Zoints occurs through the ZAdmin.

As for the hack, I would make a post here (in the appropriate forum) and at dev.zoints.com looking for someone to take it on as a paid project. You could also consider messaging a few of the bigger block developers at dev.zoints.com to see if they are interested.

Hey Mate!

Just wanted to ask, if there is any possibility to add the menu which is in zoints (Forum, My profile... etc. etc... Settings) into the navbar?

Strike3ForumsMH 10-13-2007 11:42 PM

Hey Jay,

You mean to put the Zoints navbar into the vB navbar? If so, I am sure I could help you out with that (just with a simple template edit.)

Hmm I don't think that is a good solution since accessing the member profile should be always possible as a registered member. Would it be a big work to implement something like I mentioned above? I am so in love with the zoints profile and really don't want to deactivate that thing. I had in mind that this system would motivate users to be an active member in the whole community and don't just read...

Strike3ForumsMH 10-14-2007 12:17 PM

Nope, it's pretty much all or nothing. But you could set up promotions to be very attainable, like 10 posts, and if you have an automatic welcome PM you could inform the user of being able to access these profiles in 10 posts. Outside of that, there is not much you can do.

Thanks a lot for you suggestions. I think I have to turn it on in that case for all registered members :)

Jay-MOB 10-14-2007 02:54 PM

Yep, that's the one!

Could you send me the template edit, or well the code I need to edit?

Can you PM me the code, as I want to become better at programming myself, rather than other people doing the work for me!

Cheers in advance!

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade.
In the instructions in the first post it says: "Download the new zip file" There are 2 zip files. Which one should I downlaod?
Also, since I moved servers a lot of the functions are not working I suspect its because of chmod issues. What folders need to be chmod'd for everything to work correctly?

Well Jay, if you want to really start learning a bit.... I'll start you off and see if you can't suit it to your forum. Now this is it in the vB navbar form and not how it is on the profiles, if you want that, I might be able to set you up with it though. To do it as I am describing, a second navbar, login to your vB Admin CP, click Style & Templates, click Style Manager, find the style you want to edit and click Edit Templates. From there, click Navigation/Breadcrumb Templates and then click navbar.

Now you're style could differ from mine, but look for something like <!-- / nav buttons bar --> which is signaling the end of the navbar code, after that put this in but adjust the url to fit your forum's of course, and if you want the link text to be different, feel free to adjust it as needed. I tested this on my forum and it worked fine, if you have troubles, you can open up a ticket at Zoints.com and I'll try to sort it out for you Jay.
(Also, you can change the "thead" to "tcat" or "tfoot" if you like the color/image the style has there better.)

Code:

<!-- nav buttons bar1 -->
<div align="center">
        <table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%" align="center" style="border-top-width:0px">
        <tr align="center">
                <td class="thead"><a href="http://www.yourforum.com/forums/index.php">Forums</a></td>
                <td class="thead"><a href="$vboptions[zointsprofile_zurl]?id=$bbuserinfo[userid]">My Profile</a></td>
<td class="thead"><a href="http://zoints.com/communities/">Zoints Communities</a></td>
<td class="thead"><a href="$vboptions[zointsprofile_zurl]?id=$bbuserinfo[userid]&g=privacy">Privacy</a></td>
      <td class="thead"><a href="http://www.yourforum.com/forums/z/z.php?cmd=settings">Settings</a></td>
</tr>
        </table>
</div>
<!-- / nav buttons bar1 -->

If the vB product is installed Josh, please just download and install zlocal 1.0.4b.zip

Please refer to the readme file in the above zip for which folders to chmod. Also, since you move servers a lot, you might have some configuration troubles (unless you adjust that as you move, since Zoints calls to the server path it was installed from.)

Hi Josh,

Login to your vBulletin Admin CP, go to vB Options, find Zoints Profile Options, and turn off Automatic Template Edits. This will turn off the Zoints related edits put into your forums, such as the navbar addition and if elected, the posbit link. To re-enable whatever edits you want (if any), refer to the readme file found with the vbulletin product package.

I hope this helps.

- Reid

nowhere in the readme file are instructions on how to manually add the relevant template changes.

these automated template changes work on a search / replace algorithm which doesn't work if you've edited the portions of templates it's trying to find to replace. Thus, it's not working on a lot of my pages.

please advise.

also, with auto template edits on, or with them off and the $popup code entered in my navbar, the Profiles menu will not show up on my vBa CMPS portal page.
