MadKad,

seems like you have enabled the vbseo_sm_vba.php add-on while you don't have vBa CMPS running?
the sitemap URL you should submit is http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_index.xml.gz (you should add the rewrite rule in .htaccess file as described)

Shadow_NL,

this thread is is for vBSEO Sitemap Generator extension, while vBSEO ( http://www.vbseo.com ) is a different product.

Hello

I have a .com and .net forum how do I set this up so it makes a site map for both .com and .net the files are in the same folder for both .com and .net

lsgworldl,

according to google sitemap protocol, you cannot include URLs from different domains in the same sitemap.

creativepart 07-13-2006 07:16 PM

I've installed this in my forum at http://www.gibson-talk.com/forum.

I've told Google to find the sitemap index file there (http://www.gibson-talk.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz) and it does, but when I look at that index file it tells Google to go to: <loc>http://www.gibson-talk.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz</loc>

Problem is when I manually connect to that address it gives a file not found error -- it's missing the vbroot "forum" in the URL.

What should I do to fix this?

kall 07-13-2006 07:26 PM

creativepart,

Have you uploaded the .htaccess?

It is what makes google think that the sitemap files are located at root.

(So yes, the correct place to be submitting them as is "yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz").

creativepart 07-13-2006 07:36 PM

Yep, I did upload the .htaccess file to the forum directory (and to the httpdocs folder too, but I know it's supposed to be uploaded to the forum directory.)

I have Vbseo installed on another forum in anothe domain on this same server, so I know that the server can accomadate the rewrite.

Thanks

I figured it out. When I configured the Admin Options panel I put the domain name in the "Sitemap Files URL" option. I was thinking that this would cause it to rewrite to that directory, but it didn't. All it did was change the URL that showed up in the sitemap index file. Once I got rid of that option and then reran the make sitemap php file it corrected the problem.

iojam 07-15-2006 12:44 PM

creativepart,

yes, this option is required only if you want to specify *different* sitemap location - it should be left empty for the default case.

Looking pretty cool.
I've just installed this.

Let's wait and see the results, shall we? :)

Hay when i submit the sitmap to google site map program. It give some errors

Quote:

URL not allowed (Line 65535) with URL http://www.mydomain.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=2 This url is not allowed for a Sitemap at this location.
Quote:

Google has detected some URLs that appear to be at a higher level or different domain than the Sitemap file location. If you receive this error, try moving your Sitemap file to a higher location in your site and submitting again. For instance, if your Sitemap is listed under http://www.example.com/mysite/sitemap.xml, the following URLs are not valid for that sitemap

* http://www.example.com/ - it's at a higher level than the Sitemap
* http://www.example.com/yoursite/ - it's in a directory parallel to the Sitemap
'm using my forum as mydomain.com/forum so sitemap crated by vbseo_sitemap also inside that forum directory. But google never accept links from higher level directorys. like mydomain.com/gallery etc..

So i uploaded that sitemap_1.xml.gz to my website root directory, i mean like mydomain.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz then it works fine and give no errors.

So how to fix this? Is there anyway i can auto update sitemap file in root directory without manualy copy and uploading from vbseo_sitemap?

Vbseo_site map crates lot of higher links like that, so really need a solution for this...

thank you very much!!
