I think it would be pretty straightfoward to write a short script to achieve this, if you are comfortable with php and sql. I suggest working through the csv import feature of this hack.

You would need to do the following:
a) shift your attachments out of the database into the filesystem
b) the script would then loop through a join of the attachment and post tables to create properly formatted csv records which this hack could read

You also need to work out the directory where VB is storing the attachments, which is formed by cutting up the userid into separate digits

Leave open the categories where you want them to be able to add new entries. You do this with Administer/Categories/open and close. Closed categories will accept entries from the admin but not from other users.

The next release will provide separate 'add link' permissions for each category, making it easier to do what you want.

No, this is not possible at present, because a) it would probably make the display look a mess and b) it makes the database query more complicated and expensive to perform. I'll give it some thought.

Thanks , thats works good. Is it possible to put the text " closed" away from the Categoriename?

With rates and comments i can understand what you mean, thanks !

You`re a very good supporter.

Sure - just edit the links_main template. Look for this string:

Code:

<if condition="$catclosed != 0"><span class="smallfont">[$vbphrase[ll_closed]]</span></if>
and remove it.

quick question on statistics: since upgrading to latest beta (or at least i had not n oticed this before)... it seems only one of my categories is showing in the statistics and not the other(s).
downloads from this category also do not appear in the users ldm hits.
apart from this, downloads display and work correctly for all categories.

is there a category-based setting to control what appears in stats??

thanks in advance....

Seems like a bug - there is no per-category setting - I'll check what's going on - but am going on vacation today for a couple of weeks. Thanks for letting me know.

Please replace align="right" with align="stylevar[right]" this is better. the same for left alignment too.

Imagine that you see an item that must be at the left but it is at right.

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread.

This will make your hack compatible with right-to-left forums.
I'll translate this hack into arabic and publish it here if you want.

Thanks

you know $stylevar[left] value becomes right in right-to-left forums.
