How long is it going to take to get the whole thing update?

I really haven't been keeping up with that process as I don't have much to do with it, but I do know that the file has been circulating to a few people for testing purposes so I am assuming the engineers are awaiting word from those people. As soon as it's ready, I'll be updating the download here and sending an update to the downloaders.

is it a requirement to be part of the zoints.com network ? It's looking like it is.. please advise or is it a one-time connection to zoints.com servers to get it going and than, we can disable that communication ??

Just done a complete upgrade from 1.0.4a (over writing all existing files bar the two in the install folder), rand the upgrade system and it says there is nothing to upgrade - i.e. "You are currently running version "1.0.4""

Is that supposed to happen and if so perhaps your upgrade text should mention that for people upgrading from 1.04 o 1.04a they don't run the upgrade routine?

It is a requirement to be apart of the Zoints.com network, which is one of the major reasons why a hack like this is free. Disabling the connections back would be in violation of use of Zoints Local.

Whether or not Zoints Local is for you and your forums though, I hope you find the appropriate solution for your site.

I believe Danny answered you on network.zoints.com but for those who might be wondering the same thing, I'll answer it here. If you are already on 1.04 (ie the old download with the permissions bug), ignore the upgrade version part as that really only applies to 1.03 and before. Just upload the new files and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know.. I never liked the idea of somebody keeping you 'hostage' in any way with software. Sort of keeps the "strings" around 'routine'.. so they can pull you later..

if the communication is necessary, is the zoints global system also available or are here plans for it to be available ?

Samy, you are in no way 'held hostage' by using Zoints. Hundreds of forums have used Zoints for almost an entire year now (it will be once November is over) and we are very up front of what we expect from those who use the software and that is to honor the way we have it set up (with the network connection.) Should Zoints ever stop, the software would continue to function outside of the links to Community and other Zoints.com links. Like I said, Zoints isn't for everyone but we do our best to release quality additions to the forum community at a level of support higher than many paid products, and all we ask is for the mutual respect back.

Zoints Global is a different system from Local, with more interaction from Zoints.com and it was once available. While we are focusing on the next version of Zoints Local, we do plan to look into bringing Zoints Global back out so check on network.zoints.com for updates on that from time to time if interested.

Reid, you guys offer integration services ? i have a few modules about 5, of which I want to work together .. I like the idea of you guys coming out with zoints global.. and so, I thought i try this.
