Xenon 04-18-2006 01:05 PM

that's correct

i will change that in the future, but right now, i didn't have enough time to do so :)

Metal-R-US 04-18-2006 04:18 PM

No worries, it works fine for me apart from that minor annoyance...

Dragon Company 04-18-2006 07:49 PM

Thanks a lot for this fonction

Fifthe1ement 04-21-2006 03:33 AM

It doesn't always work? I have users that have been able to make posts over and over. It works like 50% of the time? I have to install it since that percentage is just plain crap.

Xenon 04-21-2006 12:44 PM

It works always, but the doublepost has to be a valid post

so if you have an image/smilie limit of 10, the first post has already 5 images in, and the new post has 6, then a merged post would be illegal, and therefore it won't merge the posts

brvheart 04-21-2006 01:22 PM

will this be taken out of beta soon?

Xenon 04-21-2006 04:15 PM

you can use it already

the beta is just there, because i want to port on feature over i had in vb3.0, but the hack is fully working :)

brvheart 04-21-2006 07:36 PM

kewl thanks :) *installs*

brvheart 04-21-2006 07:45 PM

question: I might be missing it here, if I am forgive me for the stupid question, is there a way to keep the editted by out of the post and just have the post seperator there?

DA AWARD GIVEN OUT TO ME......Found it lol

Fifthe1ement 04-22-2006 03:48 AM

I have the smiles/images set to 200 and their is nothing wrong with the users post as all they are posting is text yet it seems to work 50% of the time.

Ntfu2 04-22-2006 04:00 AM

Isnt working properly for me either.

Are there admin options some where i need to edit or something?

edit: Nevermind, when using quick reply it doesnt automatically refresh to a automerged post. You have to refresh the page manually to see changes

Xenon 04-22-2006 12:30 PM

@Ntfu: that's a problem with Ajax system,a nd was the only way to make it work with it right now...

@Fith: hmm, the plugin is installed here since we upgraded to 3.5 and never got a problem like this.
it may be another setting, or that the posts contain attachments, maybe another hack is interfering...

pipin 04-24-2006 09:46 AM

Is it right, that it doesnt work when the threadstarters posts right after his first a second posting?

Xenon 04-24-2006 11:09 AM

nope, it also merges into the first post, but you can prevent that with an easy condition, if you don't like it to be that way

It's only a problem with the later plugin version - works fine with the older (fixed) file edit version. ;)

Xenon 04-24-2006 04:49 PM

@pipin: i have tested it now again, and it works perfectly as i described....

Iceman62 04-25-2006 05:17 PM

This is a brilliant idea!! I just wish it would work with 3.5.4 . :(

Or does it?

Xenon 04-25-2006 07:14 PM

it does :)

as you can test hre in the testforum, it works perfectly ;)

Iceman62 04-25-2006 07:31 PM

Test forum? Sorry man, I'm brand new to vb. But would love to have this!! I've seen way to many "doubles" posted. I hate to see 4 in a row!! That's why I like the "merge post" feature they have now. I'm just skeptical when it comes to my own stuff. I'm not a coder. I have no idea what to do if "I" break somethin'. I'll give it a try and report back.

(tentatively clicks install):nervous:

Iceman62 04-25-2006 07:52 PM

Are Admins exempt?

Xenon 04-25-2006 08:41 PM

not by default

Fifthe1ement 04-25-2006 11:19 PM

I now have examples of the plugin not working. I am going to post what two different board memebers posted on two different threads and niether post was automerged:

I screwed around with it for a long time and all i managed to do was blow up everything, Killed diego, killed mobimb, and killed pc suite, even managed to get several bsod's. got fed up with it and went to sleep. this morning i did a system restore to 2 days ago and had to reinstall pc suite but now back in business. I will have to try pheonix again but gonna set a new restore point to today if this thing is working ok.

gotta get my other machine up again and install win2k to see if i can use it as a test machine, maybe that will prove to be a little better and who cares if i blow that one up?
So what is going wrong here? There are no pics? No problems? Yet sometimes it does work?

I have seen some on ebay and want to get opinion.

Xenon 04-25-2006 11:45 PM

must be a problem on your board then, maybe another mod is interfering, or you set up something incorrectly.

i use the released verion here on vb.org and such a problem NEVER occured also i don't have any reports by others right now, so i assume, another mod specially on your board.

Fifthe1ement 04-25-2006 11:52 PM

Not a problem here and I'm not a noob so the board is set up correctly. Like I said it works some times and other times it doesn't. I have the follwoing hacks installed: HIDE Hack, Proxy to Real IP, [AJAX] vBShout v2.0, Prevent Doubleposting, Welcome Headers. No other problems on the board.

DJ XtAzY 04-26-2006 03:39 AM

so whats the conditon to exclude admins? i know !can_moderate() exludes mods, but what is the condition for admins?

Xenon 04-26-2006 12:50 PM

Well, sorry all i can say is that it seems like a problem with one of the other hacks then. i cannot check through all hacks, i can just provide and test versions working on unmodified boards, and this one does.

@XtAzY: easies is:
Code:

$vbulletin->userinfo['usergroupid'] != 6

mkdevo 04-26-2006 12:51 PM

odd request, but can someone tell me which file or files were edited when this mod involved editing files (before it became a plugin)?? thanks in advance..

Xenon 04-26-2006 12:52 PM

functions_newpost.php :)

Neo_obs 04-27-2006 04:08 PM

OK how do I add multiple groups to not be affected? Like say I have multiple groups of Moderators and staff? can I just put xenon's code mulitple times? cause it doesnt seem to work that way

Xenon 04-27-2006 04:26 PM

by checking old posts:

I know the cause now. it doesnt work, if the prefix hack is used in a forum and then when the poster does the first and second post.

BeaLzeBuB 04-28-2006 01:56 AM

thx thx thx. its very useful

Xenon 04-28-2006 03:55 PM

@pipin: ahh, that may be a reason, as those forums are excluded here on vb.org ;)

Iceman62 04-28-2006 04:16 PM

Didn't work for me either.:ermm:

JohnBee 05-02-2006 02:25 PM

I totally love this hack!
I modded the old file based on and had it down to a sience on our forum, everyone loved it!

I was eager to add thes one to our new forum but I hit a wall because it seems to process thing a little differently now. Basically what I want is this:

JohnBee Added 3 minutes 2 seconds later...

Can somone help me get it working this way?
Also I liked the old system better than this warning for merger approach but hey... im not complaining, this hack kicks ass!

Xenon 05-02-2006 05:52 PM

well, the old way does work again, but you have to disable Ajax ;)

as for the second thing

hmm, not tried, but test it ;)

edit the plugin Main Doublepost Prevent Engine

find that line:
PHP Code:

$doublepost['message'] = $doublepost['pagetext'] . "\n" $vbulletin->options['xen_dp_spacer'] . "\n" $post['message'];

and change into:
PHP Code:

$doublepost['message'] = $doublepost['pagetext'] . "\n" $vbulletin->userinfo['username'] . ' added after ' intval((TIMENOW $doublepost['dateline'])/60) . ' Minutes and ' . ((TIMENOW $doublepost['dateline']) % 60). ' Seconds' $vbulletin->options['xen_dp_spacer'] . "\n" $post['message'];

or the like

JohnBee 05-03-2006 04:24 AM

Great! - When you say disable ajax, do you mean turn it off for the entire forum?

I added the MOD you suggested but when I did the double post prevention stopped working :(

Also I wanted to ask.
Is it possible to use the old file edit based hack on 3.5.4 to continue to acheive the old results?

Xenon 05-03-2006 12:25 PM

review my post above, i missed a dot ;)

jep, i mean for the entire forum

nope, the file edit will be a bit easier than the plugin version is, but the old results can't be achieved, because the old version was during a time, ajax wasn't used for quick reply
