I have installed 10 hacks from vBulletin since switching from UBB Classic a few weeks ago.
However, this my very first post here in the forum because this hack just rocks! Great job! Installed and voted for! :) |
Hi,
Great mod! I am trying to get my moderators to be able to use it. Right now, they are super moderators. When they click on the "mod" link one of the items they have is: Users Search for Users Ban User View Banned Users Search IP Addresses Is there a way to add "miserable user" to that list, so a user can be banned, or they can be "miserabled"? Thanks, Rich |
The only thing you can do is make the miserable usergroup a "banned" usergroup so they can ban people to it.
|
Meaning there could be two different "banned" groups? How do I do that?
|
It's a setting in each usergroups settings in the acp usergroup manager.
|
So do you mean under the miserable configuration, where it asks what number usergroup I want to add miserable users to, I should point it to the "banned" usergroup #13 on my site? Does that make the user banned and also miserable?
|
I think you misread it ;

I know its been talked about but just looking to confirm this is good under 3.6
I can't possibly live without it. Thanks |
I'm using it under 3.6 and haven't any problems so far. :)
Bekka |
There is a seperate 3.6 version.
|
|
well i finally used this puppy and wow what a blast i had :) Thanks for this hacks.
|
I really feel in love with you :) installs
|
This Add-On is really great, but it seems not really working, atleast on the board were I've installed it.
The users who are in the miserable usergroup can post in the last 2 days. We're using vB 3.5.4, so I guess, this hack works well with this version. |
If you read it, you will see it does not actually prevent posting, just makes it very hard.
|
Installed, works great. =)
I wish however you had a "time limit" option with cron job support maybe. This way you could set a user to that usergroup for "x" time before its removed.. kinda like a fun thing, or warning.. but wont allow for a admin to forget to remove it. (Unless set to perma) |
Set the group to be bannable, and move people to it using the forum ban option.

Or are you saying it allows you to move them to that usergroup when you got ban user. |
It allows you to move them to that usergroup when you choose the ban member options. They should still have whatever permissions you grant that group.
|
Ah thanks, solved that issue..
However.. one issue I see with that. Maybe you have a idea. I ONLY want "admins" with this function. Since obviously we would try to keep a more politcal stand on things vs allow mods to go rampant and have fun with it. Since normally, AdminCP is the ONLY place you can change or add usergroups, It was safe to say it was isolated to admin only use. By doing what you suggest and making it a banned group, mods could now be able to move users to that group. I dont really think I want mods to be allowed to put someone in miserable users. Any idea on how something could be designed for usergroup permissions in who is allowed to move someone to that group? |
As you say - if you want it admins only then you have to do it manually, the other way will allow anyone who can ban to use the function (i.e. moderators). As far as I can see, those are your only choices - unless you can find someone to custom write what you want.
|
Yea thats what I was afraid of hehe.. Yea on a large community like ours.. rather not tempt mods.. or leak this info out easily that we can do this.
Plan to use this vs flamers and trolls... Banning them wont mean much.. but a issue can hehe. |
When I first saw this, I thought what a great idea it was, but I had no reason to use it. Now I have a couple members that deserve this usergroup and I think it's a fantastic hack.
Thank you! clicks install! Stuart |
Woo thanks, Got a member or my site who tends to be very rude. IM AM GOD !!

Perhaps I am doing something wrong - although I don't know what as I have been through it a hundred times - but it doesn't seem to be working with the Infraction Usergroups...
If I assign my miserable usergroup to someone as a secondary it works perfect, but anyone assigned it through the Infraction System has the permissions of the Miserable Usergroup, but not any of the miserable effects. ??? |
It won't work because the persons usergroup is not changed by the infraction system.

That is kind of what I thought, but wasn't sure. Thanks, Paul. |

I love this hack! I've been using it for months.
Yesterday I installed VBSEO and it looks like my miserable users aren't affected anymore. Are VBSEO and this hack incompatible? |
