What the Hell are you talking of? :)

brvheart 03-23-2006 02:14 PM

ok.....this is the skinny skinny....can oyu hit me on aim or MSN?

I disabled one Product.....New welcome thread upon registration and viola it worked. that is the only thing that I did.....so here is a small conflict with another product. I can give you the link to the one I installed, I think there is 2 of them.

EDIT It is this one... https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=98553

Andreas 03-23-2006 03:22 PM

As said before, change ERRTYPE_SILENT to ERRTYPE_STANDARD to see what's wrong.

brvheart 03-23-2006 03:28 PM

do I need to to change that in one spot on the plugin manager?

Andreas 03-23-2006 03:33 PM

register_addmember_complete

brvheart 03-23-2006 03:40 PM

ok, I did that. I actually turned it on in all spots in the Plug-in Manager....registered as a new user.....got no error :(

Sorry, I dont know what else to do.

Andreas 03-23-2006 03:45 PM

Neither do I as I can't reproduce the problem :)
Though, feel free to send me an ACP login and all take a look.

Is there a non-post related way of warning them? For example, if you had a chat feature installed and you wanted to warn them about something that happened there, you wouldn't be able to use it but might still want to warn them.

I think you've posted in the wrong thread? Maybe you meant to post here or here?

Viks 03-24-2006 12:59 PM

Hi,
I installed this modification but the new registered user recieves the PM ONLY after they have activated their account using the activation codes.

I was wondering if there is a way to send the PM the moment a user register and gets on the forums.. even if they are not activated.

thanks

Vik

Yes - do not require eMail verification to register.

Blue-Inc 03-26-2006 11:47 PM

I've installed the Plugin thanks to you for making this, but where in the ACP can I find options to send to the user when he has just registered.

Here some correction for the german translation:

Q: Why does this Hack not work?
A: Although it is possible that you have discovered a new Bug that causes it not to work, it is more likely that you have made an installation/configuration/customization mistake.
Before asking for support, please check:
- Did you enter the Userid of the Sender?
- Does the sender have permission to use PMs?
- Does Usergroup registered have permission to use PMs?
- Are you using the original Phrases?
If you are moderating new users they get the PN after you gave them access to the forum.

michaelsilvia 04-15-2006 02:44 AM

When I installed the plug in I got an error when trying to PM one of my members.

I'm not sure if this would fix the problem, but you could try

AdminCP > Maintenance > Repair / Optimize Tables > (Check All)

And keep Optimize Tables to yes, and Repair Tables to yes... This might fix the problem, usually does the trick when I have an error.

Thanks,
Paul

NR Fatal 04-15-2006 10:54 PM

Martin64 04-16-2006 01:36 AM

|oR|Greg 04-19-2006 06:27 PM

I've been wanting to setup something similar to your Welcome PM hack, but base it on a user joining a usergroup. Do you know if this is possible, or if it exists as a hack already? How hard would it be to re-code your hack to do this, or extend it?

ElForro 04-23-2006 04:46 AM

I've trying to install this for an hour but i can't..

Quote:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /www/elforro.com.ar/htdocs/register.php(431) : eval()'d code(7) : eval()'d code on line 1

How do I have to use BBCode in the Phrase in order to get this working??????

I've just put "Hi [*b]$username[/b*]" (without *) and it doesn?t works!

I'm using VBulletin 3.5.4

jruerph 04-26-2006 11:06 AM

Have you set up the sender UserID (vBulletin Options / User Registration Options)?
By default this is 0, eg. don't send PMs.

I tried to change from "0" to user "admin" but will not accept change. It says saved setting successfully but when I come back it's "0" again. Any recommendations

bplinson 04-26-2006 11:37 AM

I recommend that you use a user id number like 1 or if you want the message to come from you then use your user id number

VTXCafe.com 04-27-2006 02:21 AM

Sweet! Works like a charm!

paulfletcher 04-27-2006 03:51 AM

It's a great way to welcome the users. :)

ElForro 05-02-2006 07:35 AM

I've put "1" in UserID, of course... Someone can help me with the phrase? I just can't get it... Can I use BBCode for it? Because i Just put a [ B ]Hello[ /B ] and get that error...
Maybe some problem with the language?

Or give me an example of your phrase with BBCode to try it and see what happens...

Thanks!

PD: Maybe I look a little stupid because I can't install this, but i've installed a lot of plugins and had no problems.. Sorry

paulfletcher 05-02-2006 11:37 AM

This is what I use.

Thanks paul! So... I can't use BBCode in the Phrase?

paulfletcher 05-03-2006 07:23 PM

lol. Sorry. I've never tried BB Code. Just thought I would post that information to see if it helped. I think its pretty much the default text. You could try html.

Quote:

Or give me an example of your phrase with BBCode to try it and see what happens...
Here is some html code that would make the text bold, and add a link / change colors etc... If you wanted to try it out.

HTML Code:

<style type="text/css">
<!--
.style1 {color: #FF0000}
.style2 {color: #33FF00}
.style3 {color: #0000FF}
.style4 {color: #FF9900}
.style5 {color: #FFFF00}
-->

</style>
<p>Hello $username,</p>
<p>Welcome to my <a href="http://www.example.com" target="_self">website</a>. I'm going to test <strong>bold</strong>, and <em>Italics</em>. Now I'm going to try some colors...</p>
<p><span class="style1">Red</span>, <span class="style2">Green</span>, <span class="style3">Blue</span>, <span class="style4">Orange</span>, <span class="style5">Yellow</span>. </p>
<p>Thanks,<br>
Admin</p>

Let me know how it goes :) Sorry I couldn't help more.

Thanks,
Paul

ElForro 05-04-2006 04:30 AM

I've tried HTML but I think that I must allow HTML in Private Messages... and... well, I don't want to...

(Sorry again for all my stupids problems :P)

No, but you can use html in the phrases. And bbcode in the message itself. ;)

Ohiosweetheart 05-04-2006 05:04 AM

I've had this hack for about 3 months or so... the % of actual participation from new registrations has increased by at least 60%

I LOVE this hack ;)

ElForro 05-05-2006 02:25 AM

The problem with HTML is this:

I have this phrase:

Code:

Hola <a href="http://www.elforro.com.ar">$username</a>
<br />
Gracias por registrarte en ElForro!

And of course, I DON'T want to allow HTML in Private Messages...

So, what is my option if I can't use BBCode in Phrases, and I can use HTML in phrases but I can't use it in Private Messages?

I ask this because i want to use bold, italic and colors in my Welcom PM, but i can't... So? Anny suggestion?

Quote:

And bbcode in the message itself.
Isn't the "message itself" in the "welcomepm" phrase?
