@ Cyb0rg: I found a workaround, but this can't be a real solution. Run the sql queries manually from the non htl folder after htl install, ignore the errors.

Attention: There's a missing ' in shoutbox.sql.

Search for:
DELETE FROM phrase WHERE varname LIKE %shoutbox%';

Replace it with:
DELETE FROM phrase WHERE varname LIKE '%shoutbox%';

Can this shoutbox be displayed on a page other than the forumhome display? (IE, the main page of my site)? In other words, can it be called from a standard HTML page?

Thanks Elrum, that worked. Now I can read the general options for the Shoutbox but I still have the same like before at the usergroup options.

I just see Yes/No there but no text on the usergroup shoutbox option.
Any hints ?

ive downloaded and ran the latest version of the file but when i click on it the link looks like the following:-

when the new page opens I get :-

Your usergroup(s) do not have permission to use the shoutbox

yet the account is an administrator and the usergroup has got permissions (checked myself) have I done something wrong ?

looks like I have fixed it myself. I went to edit the usergroup didnt make any changes but saved it anyway and now it works.

ok now when i edit or delete a shout there is a missing image:-

I just installed the ShoutBox and it seems to have installed without a hitch..No for the stupid question.. Where is it and how do I enable it???

I can see it under general settings but nowhere else..

Maybe I didn't install into the root directory shoutbox.php = forum root directory

I believe I did though..

is there anywhere to input "The Shoutbox" for users to see when they go to the main site? all there is is a blank box with a green arrow pointing where the shoutbox is... kinda confusing :(

your main folder the forum is in ie the 1 with favicon.ico in it

AGH, I tried the manual install, but the MySQL won't go though. It keep returning erros that the tables already exist but they have invalid syntax. I can't seem to uninstall the HTL hack because for some reason it won't let me. And I try to install the HTL version, and it says "Phrases could not be added!"

Please help.

EDIT: NVM got it working...but now it says "You cannot make a blank shout" when I type something in. -_- Help

Link14716: Sorry to ask again, but I would really like to use your shoutbox. Is there a way to set the default editor for the shout separate from the rest of the board? I think that would also solve the issues you are having with it.

Well I disabled the WYSIWYG editor for now until I can figure out how to enable the shoutbox again along with the WYSIWYG.

no more needed, i have found how to do this.

I recently installed this Hack (which is great) on a NEW 3.0.1 Vb system ... Its working great in the iframe on home page ( I can shout here in the Home page input box) but when I open the shoubox.php window and try and add a shout I get a Blank Dialog Box pop up with an ! in it and an Ok button after typing and pressing the "Shout Now" Button. Some times I get a message that says ya cant You cannot make a blank shout!

I used the HTL to do the install...

I'm the admin and it seems to be working for everybody else, just not me...

The non-HTL version doesn't work.

The SQL files are mostly invalid, so far. E.g. "DELETE FROM phrase WHERE varname LIKE %shoutbox%';" (Missing a ')

Ok, I give up on this one. Every single SQL file for the non-HTL installation has errors, duplicated queries, or some other problem.

Is it possible to use the vb smiley popup link in this shoutbox? It could be launched with a link after the refresh link and when a member clicks on a smiley the source is displayed in the tekstfield. Can someone do this?
