Add after:

PHP Code:

construct_nav_option('vBindex Options''vbioptions.php?''<br />');

This will be fixed and phrased in the next release.

Is there any way i can give something back to you.

Maybe in the way of paypal or something?

Donations can be made to eldorado @ coreforums.net (PayPal) and will be much appreciated :)

Do you mean the blocks on the side with the latest threads etc? If so remove this HTML from the blocks template (note XYZ means a keyword relating to the block, like onlineusers):

HTML Code:

<a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('vbindex_XYZ')"><img id="collapseimg_vbindex_XYZ" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_tcat$vbcollapse[collapseimg_vbindex_XYZ].gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>

???`S?LV?R???` 01-16-2004 09:54 AM

Also about the footer, how would i get the bottom blue bar to size up automatically like the other tables instead of being wider.

corsacrazy 01-16-2004 10:08 AM

that screen shot is nothing to do with vbindex

???`S?LV?R???` 01-16-2004 10:10 AM

vbindex's homepage has pretty much the same footer as the one im talking about, I wanted to change both

???`S?LV?R???` 01-16-2004 10:20 AM

Nevermind I got It how I want It Now, :) I think I did a nice job. Check it out...

???`S?LV?R???` 01-16-2004 10:40 AM

Lol I just found a problem with mine, now when anyone goes to the vbindex homepage it still shows the same buttons as the admin would see. can someone send me the original footer code so i can revert mine back & fix this.

NTLDR 01-16-2004 10:46 AM

Just copy the conditionals from the footer template :) (Or click show default in the footer template if you wiped them there too).

???`S?LV?R???` 01-16-2004 10:48 AM

theres nothing in the show default box

???`S?LV?R???` 01-16-2004 10:53 AM

I just need a copy of the template so i can enter it again

???`S?LV?R???` 01-16-2004 12:22 PM

NTLDRCould your hack have an:
Encyclopedia,
Store add-ons as well ever?

Would be cool ...

NTLDR 01-16-2004 01:02 PM

An Encyclopedia could be done just by adding some HTML for the extra pages. I'm sure the store hacks when release could be easily integrated onto the page too.

Thanks, that did the trick!

[QUOTE=zenmasteril]I get an error when i try to go to the next step - "Adding vBindex event-Cache", and can't finish the installation:QUOTE]

Seems you have tried to do that step twice, point your browser to install/vbiugraded.php?step=7 to continue the installation.

Gary King 01-17-2004 08:17 PM

When I install and run the installer and everything, the phrases and templates don't get installed. All steps from step 7+ don't have any text to notify me that something has happened (such as Installing phrasetype etc.)

Any fix? :)

NTLDR 01-17-2004 08:27 PM

Odd, the same text should appear that comes up when doing it in the ACP/during the vB install. Do the templates appear in the ACP?

You should see: Importing Templates For Style: ..... (for each style you have), Importing vBindex Phrases (for the phrases, after the templates/image paths and style rebuild) then the final step.

Do you get any text on the next step button at the bottom?

I don't see the Importing Templates For Style: ...

Also, I do still get the text on the next step button at the bottom, I guess because those are already basically pre-set.

NTLDR 01-17-2004 08:55 PM

Is the next step on the button 'Edit Image Paths'? And the URL install/vbiupgraded.php?step=7

Yeah, button text is correct, and vbiupgrade.php?step=7 is the URL when I see the button say 'Edit Image Paths'.

NTLDR 01-17-2004 09:33 PM

I can't think why nothing at all shows, there are only so many reasons why that could occur, 1) there isn't a step 7 in that file, well there is by default, 2) its somehow 'died' before getting to the xml_import_templates function, 3) it 'dies' at the very start of that function. All three of which I don't think are very likly.

I'd recomend clicking next and continuing, at the end see if they are in the ACP, and if the other steps execute correctly. It won't do any harm continuing if it hasn't imported the templates correctly.

Gary King 01-17-2004 09:39 PM

Yeah I know, that's what I did, I went all the way thinking that there shouldn't be any text anyways. But alas, no vBIndex templates or phrases (although all steps before step 7, I believe, imported correctly.)

NTLDR 01-17-2004 09:46 PM

There is only one real difference with how the steps are done in vbiupgraded.php so its worth a shot, find and replace all instances of (in vbiupgraded.php and re-run vbiupgraded.php?step=7):

IMPORT_TEMPLATES_STEP with 7
IMGDIR_EDIT_STEP with 8
REBUILD_STYLES_STEP with 9
IMPORT_PHRASES_STEP with 10
FINAL_STEP with 11

Thats all I can think of right now, although I will investigate further.

What exactly do you mean 'a simple template mod'? I would like to add this feature in one of the custom side blocks in Vbindex, but the instructions are written for a different setup.
I know it's not your hack, but if you have some experience installing this I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Chas.

Thanks problem solved :)
I guess there are still some bugs to fix in the installer, but I mean, props to you for building such a good product/hack still ;) :D

Mukashi 01-18-2004 05:26 AM

That same error happened to me yesterday, but my install worked perfectly after I tinkered around in phpmyadmin. Turned out that a mysql entry already existed for something at step 6 (I believe I may have clicked the button twice for that step, so I probably sent the queries through twice), and every step after that didn't do anything until I went back and corrected it. It was rather a pain in the neck, but with the hack working now, I couldn't be happier.

One thing I wish were possible however. On our index page, when I enable the calender showing weekends, only it gets wider. It'd be helpful if all the boxes on the side it's on were widened when that option was selected. As it stands now, we're going to have to do it through template altering.

Anarchy 01-18-2004 09:35 AM

Is it possible to place PHP code within the vbindex_header template?

If yes, then how?

thanks...

Now thats real odd indeed, all those contstants are definded well before they are used, do you have old version of PHP or PHP 5 beta which you tried to install on? I know there has been another report of this happening.

Thanks for the feedback too :)

NTLDR 01-18-2004 04:26 PM

[QUOTE=Anarchy]Is it possible to place PHP code within the vbindex_header template?QUOTE]

Only phpinclude_start and phpinclude_end can contain PHP. In vBindex RC3 you can add templates for PHP code for the extra pages (vbindex_extra_php_X) however no other templates can contain raw PHP (excluding the <if> conditionals).

I've not installed it, but you pretty much just add the HTML to the custom block along with your scrolling content by the looks of it.
