Does this mod supports friendly urls for "downloads" files?

That would be dependant on your SEO mod, there's no built in SEO support at this time.

tried reinstalling. but did not help. i'll try to uninstall and check for and delete all remaining files. than install again.

0 byte files in your FTP means your FTP user does not have write permissions. Please contact your systems administrator to get this issue solved :)

i thought that also. but that's not the case now.

everyone with right permissions can upload files to server using vBDownloads. when i connect to the folder( i've specified in the vBD settings) over the cpanel, all files are there, with normal sizes and downloadable. only when i'm using vbdownloads i'm getting zer size download.

DragonByte Tech 03-26-2013 03:31 PM

Ah, I was under the impression the php files included with this mod were 0 bytes on your server.

If it's the downloads, that's most likely a case of read permissions being incorrect. Can you double-check those too?

I am on Downloads II right now debating whether or not i want to switch over to vBDownloads. Only thing stopping me is 2 questions
1. Is there a way where when you put an image in the description box that it automatically puts it as the thumbnail for the upload?
2. Is there a way to incorporate a thanks button in the download? Not necessarily having to thank to get the download, just for the people who want to leave thanks for being able to download the file.

DragonByte Tech 04-01-2013 12:44 AM

1. The first image you upload will be used as the thumbnail. Ticking the "Screenshot" box gives priority over a loose image. In a future version, we'll add an explicit thumbnail checkbox that'll be used to select a specific image as thumbnail.

2. There's a Rating system in the Pro version that lets people +1 or -1 the download :)

Same problem for me too. Rights of the files are set to test 777 times but no success.

i am missing the upload files button... got vbulletin 4.2, everything is installed fine... i am admin and gave me all permissions... do i have to give something chmod ?

DragonByte Tech 04-22-2013 06:21 PM

You need to modify the category in the system and add permissions there too :)

DBTech - Downloads -> Manage Categories -> Edit :)

vBDownloads v2.1.0

Thumbnail Generation Improvements
  • Ability to choose which image to use for thumbnail generation
  • A physical thumbnail image will be generated when one is requested
  • Saves bandwidth / decreases load time vs. using full image resized

Category Aware Search
  • Choose to restrict search to currently viewed category
  • Only available when browsing a category
  • Perfect for searching through a large downloads database for less unique keywords

Bugfixes
Fix: When viewing a child category, the sidebar did not correctly read files from that category's child categories.

You need to be able to CHMOD directories in order to upload files into it.

If you can't see the "DBTech - vBDownloads" menu entry in the AdminCP, ensure your userid is added to "superadministrators" in config.php.

You need to ensure your usergroups have permissions for the categories, and the system itself.

Expand the menu, click Manage Categories, and configure the permissions there.

Expand the Usergroups menu, click on Manage Usergroups, and configure the permissions there.

after i click the upload button the progress bar works fine then i get an error saying forbidden. and ideas why?

DragonByte Tech 05-25-2013 02:55 PM

Check to ensure the directory you set to hold your uploaded files is writeable.

thx

I'm having the same problem.

I can see that the files are uploaded correctly into my server but when I try to download through Vbulletindownloads I get a 0 bytes file.

This is an example of the file I get:
http://cl.ly/001I0h2X1x0m
And this is the real file:

You both need to ensure PHP Memory Limit, PHP Max Upload Size and PHP Max Post Size is as least twice the size of the biggest file you want to upload / download.

Edit php.ini - you can contact your host if you're not comfortable editing system files :)

How can I remove link from navbar?

DragonByte Tech 06-05-2013 11:29 AM

Either edit the vBulletin Options or edit the Navigation Manager entries :)

I can't get on to the demo version, are there any other examples?

How well do MP3s work with this?

Has anyone managed to do something with AndrewD's Links and Downloads Manager to help import?

DragonByte Tech 06-06-2013 05:32 PM

www.dbtech.co/vbdownloads.php :)
Use the same login credentials as the regular site :)

What do you mean, how well do MP3s work?

I would like to remove the navbar link that appears when installing this mod. Can anyone be of assistance on how to remove downloads link from navbar?

DragonByte Tech 06-12-2013 03:17 PM

If you are using vBulletin 4.2.0 or higher you can use the Navigation Manager to disable it, or you can use the vBulletin Options for "Enable Navbar Tab" :)

One request for this mod if it's not there already. Disable downloading after X GB's have been downloaded within 30 days.

DragonByte Tech 07-22-2013 07:59 PM

Could you please repost that over @ our site www.dragonbyte-tech.com ? We can't log feature requests from vBulletin.org since we don't have access to our logging tools here on vB.org.

Thanks :)

Sure thing mate.

David or Fillip:

I currently have a huge amount of files on our site, hobby-machinist.com using Downloads II by Jelle. But since there are no updated features, I want to convert to your system.

My question is this: Can I convert a HUGE library (815 files) easily from DownloadsII to your system or does it have to be done ONE AT A TIME (which will take forever).

I will gladly buy the pro version if needed.

EDIT: I just tried to use the LITE version to do the conversion from DownloadsII to your system, and got this error:

"No Users Matched Your Query"

What did I do wrong?

Thanks very much in advance!

Nelson

Can anyone else help me on this? I can't get past step 2 of importing from Downloads II.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone? Please help?

I'm sorry to be a pest, I just really want to use this program. It has the features we need.

Thanks.

As this has been cross-posted to our forums, it's being handled there. When a patch is created it will be uploaded to vBulletin.org as well :)

The issue seems to be with users who own files or downloads in Downloads II but have since been removed from vBulletin.

Workaround code is currently in testing on Nelson's site.

The above problem has been solved with an updated plugin we are using. However, we currently experienced an issue that not all of the old Downloads II downloads are being imported into the Vbdownloads system. Only 409 out of 1650 files were imported.

They are currently working on this, and we will let you know when it has been solved.

EDIT: Just discovered installing this mod will also cause "Operation Timed Out" errors on other mods. I have uninstalled it. It needs work.

Nelson
