An alternative: I can disable vbExperience's points system (while enabling vbShop's system). BUT I need to know whether I can automatically give my users their points based on days registered, posts, yada yada. Is it possible?

Absolutely :)

Under DBTech - vBShout, click Manage Currencies. You can either edit the default currency, or create a new one, and fill it out with the information you have in your vBCredits II Deluxe currency manager.

The default vBCredits II Deluxe currency configuration is user and credits for the Points Table and Points Field settings respectively :)

Can this mod allow me to create custom icons say 25x25 and let users BUY them with points used for posting? Also will it allow these items to be displayed in the thread POSTBIT under the users avatar??

New Item Type: Sticky Thread

• Allows users to sticky a thread of their choice
• Configuration takes a thread ID that will be stickied
• Users cannot sticky already stickied threads
• Sticky status gets deactivated when the item expires, is deactivated or discarded

Item Type: Fire Moderator

• Front-end: Shop list does not display if only one shop is active
• Front-end: Item list can now have more or less than 5 items per line depending on the skin
• Items have an AdminCP toggle to force it to not be displayed in the postbit. Purchased items are forcibly set to Hidden and cannot be un-hidden.
• Items with the Item Type "Usergroup Permissions (Yes / No)" or "Usergroup Permissions (Values)" can now override up to 5 permissions each.

Is there any way to tweak this to sell real world products? I'm struggling bad to find a viable shopping cart to integrate into vb, and I like the fact that I would also be able to use this to encourage activity by also selling merchandise for accumulated points.

You.. can I guess. If you're going to make an eshop sort of like thing, it's possible. Just use another plugin that makes it so you need to buy points through paypal and what not. (Not sure vBCredits does it). Then set up your items in this shop and have notifications sent to you when someone buys a product.

Also, is it going to be a a type of shop that anyone can sell their stuff or only the owner?

I mean, I kinda figured I could do it that way, but I don't want to make purchasing any more of a hassle than it needs to be, and for your average consumer, I think it would confuse and frustrate them. I'm pretty sure all I would need is a means to integrate my paypal advance account with the mod, and have a separate checkout for items purchased with points. I think that would offer the forum members a nice benefit without obstructing customers who simply want to make a quick, easy purchase.

You'd need to use vBCredits II Deluxe Pro, set up a new currency in that mod that's buyable via PayPal, add this currency to vBShop, set some items to be buyable with that currency :)

Unfortunately not, because I don't know what columns the "Thumbs Up" mod uses to store its data :(
