Videx has a valid point there, this hack would not just stop working. I know you have not made any changes, but can you ask your host if they have made any changes or updated the server software, etc ?

Dene2 03-10-2011 08:41 PM

works perfect TY

oddmud 03-18-2011 07:05 PM

Still want it to post the last page for replies, instead of the first page.

Bankfodder 03-22-2011 04:23 PM

It's been working perfectly - until today.
Suddenly it has all stopped and we can't figure out why.

Has Twitter changed something?

Thanks

Bankfodder 03-22-2011 05:16 PM

Whoops, turns out that our server time had become skewed by about 15 minutes and so Twitter was blocking the Tweets.
Fixed now.

Great mod

I have twits 17 minutes and an hour ago, so it's working here. Ask your host what they may have changed this morning.

Edit: Glad to hear you got it fixed. I wonder why a clock would lose 15 minutes?

Bankfodder 03-22-2011 05:50 PM

Dunno. Bloody nuisance. It's a dedicated server so nothing to do with a host.
It was the debugging feature on the mod which allowed us to identify the problem - so thanks again.

We are very pleased with the mod.

Hi

I followed the instructions to the letter but get this error message:

I have now disabled the plugin until this can be sorted. Any ideas why this happens and how to fix? Thanks

EDIT: For first error I have followed the instructions but do not know how to fix 2nd error.

x YNWA x 03-23-2011 06:50 PM

Ok I have disabled bit.ly as that previous error seems to be something to do with that. Changed to tiny.url. Now I get no errors but I get NO tweets when creating a new post either! Any ideas? Cheers

P.S Would prefer to use my bit.ly account though too

x YNWA x 03-23-2011 07:00 PM

Hi

The tweet appeared in timeline a few mins later,so the problem sems to be to do with bit.ly

Now another question.

Is there a way to get this or something like this to work for individuals? So a user logs in and any posts / treads they make get put on their twitter feed as tweets (from them)? Would be great if there was either something that can be done to this to edit it or some other add on that does it.

Thanks

XiTCLUB 03-23-2011 08:03 PM

Installed, but not posting to twitter

Use is.gd, TinyURL.com or Metamark url shortening.

Possibly, but it is not something I am really interested in adding.

Works like a charm on 4.1.2 for me :) Great hack!!

dany_danay 03-30-2011 01:55 PM

Thans and brilliant mod

No, unfortunately not .... this hack uses a single twitter account to cater for all threads/replies.

IndigoSociety 04-03-2011 11:59 PM

I enabled both user defined and admin hashtags but I don't see the user defined ability to enter hashtags when creating a new thread. How come?

I have the same set-up as you, I use both and they work fine for my site.

Does the same happen on the default vBulletin style?

demo7up 04-15-2011 09:54 AM

Works great on submit but doesnt work on new automatic thread submissions from like a rss feed or something anyway to fix that? I want it to tweet all submissions including automatic ones? I am willing to donate....

Jennifer2010 04-16-2011 03:03 AM

If you want to have all threads by all members tweeted then go get vBulletin to Twitter: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=234288

This was a good idea but I was under the assumption it would do it for the forum as a whole, not just the admin. What if you don't post under your admin account? User threads are the only thing that really make sense unless for some reason you want people to follow only you on twitter... You could simply click the "Tweet" button after you post a thread...

That mod hasn't worked in ages. I have no idea where you got the idea this one only tweets an admin's posts, but it's not true.

As Videx said.... and what on earth gave you the idea that it posts to Twitter from the Admin account only? Does it say that anywhere?

If you read the FAQ section in the first post, it clearly states that it is highly unlikely that I will ever add that functionality, and to be honest I do not have a need for it on any of my sites, so it does not really interest me in spending my very limited time and energy adding that functionality to a free hack.

cpradcliff 04-20-2011 01:58 AM

Hello,
How exactly does this hack works? Do I assign a forum that when members create new threads it will go to my twitter account or does it goes to the members twitter account or both?
Can I have every member with a twitter account you this feature or is it reserved for admins?

Videx 04-20-2011 02:25 AM

Posts go to your forum's twitter account. Your twitter account has nothing to do with it, nor does theirs. In fact, they don't even need a twitter account, and neither do you. But your forum does.

thunderclap82 04-21-2011 06:06 PM

I read through the mod description and FAQ, as well as all the posts in this thread, and just have a couple quick verification questions since there seems to be contradictions throughout. Perhaps things have been update, changed, etc. I dunno.

I only want to tweet my articles from the CMS and not forums or replies. Can it be limited to this with this mod?

The posts have to be 140 characters or less or they won't post, correct? This mod won't truncate a longer post?

This hack does threads and posts only, not CMS articles, RSS feeds etc,. (see FAQ in first post for more information).

That is correct, mostly.... it will try truncating, but if it is still above 140 characters, then it won't post.

yucklawyers 04-24-2011 07:36 PM

Great hack.

Confirmed working on 3.7.5

Hey Mosh I've been using your Plugin for a while but have just recently created my own URL shortening service based in yourls @ www.the-sps.com, I would love to integrate this if possible.

Would be more than happy to make a donation upon completion. :)

Oh, crap !!!! Sorry :(

I forgot to look at YOURLS, I did say at the begining of February that I would look into it.

I am taking it a bit easy at the moment, but I will look into this over the next couple of weeks and get back to you.

CK 05-04-2011 10:53 AM

No worries Mosh.

Obviously you must exclude your private forums! Or just include the ones you want. There are settings in the options panel for this. See "WS vBulletin Tweet Poster Forum Enable/Disable Options".

  1. You have not clicked Mark as Installed to receive support
  2. This is answered in the FAQ section of the first post
  3. As this is exactly the same error you posted in Buro9's thread, is it related to this hack or his? As it would not generate exactly the same error as his hack.

CK 05-09-2011 03:46 PM

Mosh. I can provide back end and ftp access to an active yourls site if it will help development.

LbR 05-10-2011 05:03 AM

Installed it sometime back, worked like charm but tweets have started to stop since 27th April. The links get shortened on bit.ly while doesn't gets up posted on my Twitter, tried resetting and changing my consumer keys etc.

But doesn't work neither any debug messages arrive nor errors.

linkandzelda 05-10-2011 05:49 PM

Installed this a few weeks ago and tweets stopped May 5th... It will not post new tweets now.
