glcvr6 03-15-2010 06:12 PM

Installed and nominated for mod of a month :)

Kr33p3r 03-17-2010 12:11 AM

So, I created a new "Forum" button, URL_PARAMETER option, Tab Mode, blank THIS_SCRIPT.

I add a tab containing the full URL to a forum

http://cpdemo.theominous.net/forumdi...-Mortal-Online

The tab is not highlighted. Is this expected?

Thanks!

WarriorDL 03-17-2010 12:28 AM

Yep. Tabs with drop down menus will not be highlighted.

That makes me a sad panda.

TeknoSounds 03-19-2010 06:33 AM

Not sure if this has been mentioned but,
I've created 3 tabs, one that uses a script (vba cmps), the other two are links to other sections of the site.
Firstly when I add vba_index to the script to one tab and go back to the Menu Tabs in the admincp, the other two tabs I had created show vba_index under the script column as well, but checking the tabs that don't have scripts individually theres nothing that shows up in their edit windows.

Second issue, when the Portal tab is selected, the other two tabs I've made (that are just links) also show as "highlighted".

http://dev.teknosounds.com/messageboard/

test user upon request.

Also, you should set the sub menus to be able to choose the CMS, Forum, and Blog tabs in addition to the created ones.

dieKetzer 03-19-2010 08:00 AM

there were changes in 402 that broke some functionality, resulting in abnormal states of tab selection. this script is technically a vb 4.01 mod...
i dont think Jhonnyf has abandoned this project. i saw him online here last week or so, and he was testing an updated version of this script on his dev site the last time i was there. i will see if i can find out where he is at with this.

TeknoSounds 03-19-2010 08:17 PM

Oi I hope so, I'm really liking this mod a lot

No, last I looked 3.x doesn't even have tabs.

And be careful when listening to 'everyone'. In fact, aside from a small group, 'everyone' finds vb4 to be cool and certainly the future.

Drache 03-21-2010 11:10 PM

very good plug in. but could you make this one work with the footer as well? I'd like to add some more links in the footer next to contact us.

WarriorDL 03-21-2010 11:30 PM

You can manually add links in with the footer template.

dieKetzer 03-26-2010 12:50 AM

no reply from jhonnyf yet. he hasnt logged into the test board in over a month, and i dont know what is going on. he was fully into this mod, so i doubt he has abandoned it. i reckon he will come back to it, perhaps once vb4 stabilises a bit?

'last week or so' = a week or two ago, in my world anyway

This hack is dead. There has been no support for too long. Unfortunately people are going to have to use it as is, or move on.

Datenpapst 03-26-2010 03:48 PM

seems so, what a shame.

o0mohammed0o 03-27-2010 12:22 AM

very nice hack

thanks so much :)

Jhonnyf 03-29-2010 01:36 PM

Sorry Guy.. I have not much time and the main problem for me it's the language

if some people that speek Spanish and English can say exactly what do you want to change it will be more easy to me.

And The another problem it's that vb4 it's not stable yet :(

carrlos 03-29-2010 02:22 PM

Jhonnyf, Yo te puedo ayudar si necesitas traducciones de lo que pide la gente. Pero no soy 'coder' como tu. Me defiendo un poco si hay que modificar algo.

If anyone needs help translating, I'll be glad to try to help.

More than 500 installs... when you will submit the new version?

choitz 03-31-2010 04:09 PM

buy curramba!!!

Surely "What's New?" isn't to dissimilar Jonny. Also, the screen shots people have put up. It's a real pity as this seemed so good when it came out almost 2 months ago.

osayidan 03-31-2010 05:24 PM

When I create tabs, they do not stay highlighted when I go to their link.

If i do like in the second post and make it an exact url instead of a relative url (which would be preferred...), then -all- the custom tabs become highlighted.

Debbi 04-01-2010 04:57 AM

Nice, and just what I was looking for! Installed.

Looks like just the hack I'm looking for, but I've run into a problem I don't know how to fix. The tab in ACP requires a right scroll to view. I'm sure I missed something as you would not have it set like that.

I haven't done the following step yet though - "Import the product product-evbs_sstab_advanced.xml" as I don't know where to put that file. Import it how and where? The other files are successfully FTP'd to my server in the correct directories.

thanks
:)

NashChristian 04-04-2010 03:39 AM

Why do coders want credit, three links, and to put a copyright on every page of your site, just for a little tabs mod? I don't get it.

I appreciate people sharing their work, but credits like this should be reserved for MAJOR mods or add-ons.

There is enough clutter as it is. Thanks, but no thanks.

I would love to add this menu to my front page.

Any help would be appreciated.

Agreed... in a sense.. I think one page display is fine, this mod though shows the footer credit in IE but not Firefox in every page and it was a no-go. I removed and manually added in the required new tabs and sub-menus.

What's this? I'm using this product, and I can't see any links or copyright notice for the product. Using Internet Explorer. Where do you see the links?

Well I had them showing on a 4.0.1 site so unless the author has removed, it was in fact there and in IE7 heck if you want to argue the point I'll reinstall the old saved version I have on my 4.0.2 and provide the link... it was weird as on each site it was different so for consistency and the fact some did not like it being added as they had a branding free vB version I decided to code it up manually for each.

Edit:

From the mod description above:

Observation:

* This Hack is FULL AUTO-TEMPLATE but need the default NAVBAR template to work
* This Hack have copyright ad at the bottom of the page (if you use this)
Long story short, if you can't code them in yourself and don't mind the footer link then your set, disregard our posts and "As you were" otherwise for those who read what they wanted to in the description.. installed then saw the link and disliked well you should start reading the modifications full description :p.

COL NIL SATIS 04-04-2010 04:51 PM

does this work on 4.0.0??

I don't want to argue, I just couldn't find it and still can't. I'd uninstall it if it cluttered my forums with links and copyright notices, but it doesn't. Weird.

Could it be that it was an option during installation? Anyway, doesn't really matter.

carrlos 04-04-2010 08:04 PM

You have to log out first. Then you'll find the copyright at the bottom of the home page. ;)

Goddamn sneaky shit! :o

Okay, maybe this hack will be a good alternative. Has twice the installs.

It doesn't support as much as this mod does. I uninstalled this one and just copy/pasted the html from the already existing navbar and edited it as needed. The extra 15 minutes of work is not worth this guy's copyright notice.

Other add-on also adds links and whatnot. But I found a description of how to do it myself here. I'm only in need of some very simple extra tabs, so that will work fine probably.
