If you have an embedded video in a post and the publisher later disables embedding, you will get this error. The new function in 2.5 currently only supports youtube. You must have the extraction options on (and your server must support the option). What will happen is that AME will scan the destination page to see if embed code exists. If it does, it will embed as normal, if not, it will instead only embed a link (with an icon).

Thank you, its working now.

Must of been a path problem.

Check that the server can write to the amecache folder and that the cache settings are correct in your Ame admincp. Afterwards, save the settings to re-write the file cache.

Hi Greek, i've two request:

1) it's possible to restrict the 'video box' into the sign?
2) important: it's possible set a limit of the number of the videos that an user can add into his/her sign?

Thx for all :)

I tried that before, but no go:(

However, I just noticed something awfully strange.... I just checked a few earlier posts in my forums. My members linked to some Youtube videos, only using the URL and not the previous Goldbrick plugin. It seems as though the convert then rebuild option had worked correctly on that post. Here's one that converted and rebuilt just fine:

http://forums.trossenrobotics.com/showpost.php?p=21198

Why won't the test post that I created rebuild properly?

sweeps78 10-06-2008 05:32 PM

okay, new, MUCH worse problem... I uninstalled ame 2.5 RC1 (didn't select the feature to convert ame tags back to urls). Then, I installed ame 2.0.2.

I ran the conversion, then rebuild and nearly all of my posts that had URLs crashed the pages. Here's an example of what had happened:

Attachment 87802

As you can see, this got pretty nasty. The post content itself somehow merged into the ame tag, and somehow, one of the html tags that got generated from the ame tag didn't properly close.

sweeps78 10-06-2008 06:06 PM

okay, I didn't think it could get any worse, but it did. I ended up having to drop my post table and re-import the backup that I created. I thought that worked until....

I just had a moderator tell me that he tried to post in our forums only to find out after he clicked "post reply" that a post that he created in a different thread showed up in place of the post that he just created. Now, I have no clue what to do... How do you even go about diagnosing this problem? I've hardly had any problems with my forums, until I tried installing this plugin.

The only thing that I can think of at this point is to try and rerun the vbulletin install script.

Howell 10-06-2008 06:48 PM

After upgrading to 2.5 RC1 I'm now getting warnings at the top of the page on the advanced edit of editing a post.

Here are the warnings.....

Warning: Missing argument 6 for ame_match(), called in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php(323) : regexp code on line 1 and defined in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php on line 442

Warning: preg_match() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php on line 670

(vB version 3.7.3 PL1)
Hope you can help. :)

sweeps78 10-06-2008 07:11 PM

just a quick update on my problem. I had to drop my existing table and re-import, but it seems that the critical error (eg. crashing my forums) has been fixed.

Now, if I could only get the ame plugin to work correctly, I'd be set:rolleyes:

The Geek 10-06-2008 08:32 PM

Sweep - the problem is that 2.5 is very different than 2.0.2. Downgrading without removing the AME tags will result in the problem you are experiencing. Im not sure why your test post isnt converting correctly other than remember that the conversion tool is just a 'tool' for helping you to remove previous media systems. The problem you are having (if I understand correctly) is in converting a post that has an old media tag and an ame tag in it. My guess is that either AME isnt recognising the previous tag or it is skipping the post because there is an ame tag already in it. Regardless, all other areas should be functioning as intended considering its a pre release :)

Make sure you uploaded all files, overwriting the previous ones. Also make sure your file cache settings are correct.

1. Yes, just remove the template name in the settings for signatures and it wont create the box around the video.
2. Nope, however just set the max amount of URLs in the signature

sweeps78 10-06-2008 08:49 PM

What do you suggest I do now though? I have my forums back up and running fine because I imported a backup of my database. As far as AME goes though, I have the old 2.0.2 files uploaded to my server, but 2.5 shows up under "Manage Products"

I can only assume that if you have 2.5 showing in the admincp, then you have the 2.5 product xml installed. That is going to cause serious problems if you are using 2.0.2 files! I would suggest uninstalling the product and reinstalling if you want to use 2.0.2

thx Greek, anyway i'll wait the fix for the 'rebuild signs' options ... :)

KURTZ 10-07-2008 10:41 AM

sorry Greek, maybe i'm drunk :p, but i don't found the settings for the max URL's in the sings ... where is? thx :)

The Geek 10-07-2008 11:02 AM

er... I guess there isnt the option. I thought there was in usergroup permissions, but hey ho... there you go :D

KURTZ 10-07-2008 11:20 AM

LOL, unfortunately i can't get this option :D can you provide something only for the AME?

This is a sorta newb question, but when I import an XML file for installing a product, does the XML file get loaded into the database? Since I am using the backup database from before I installed 2.0.2, this is the only way that I can think of that would cause me to have the newer version.

If this is true and I do have 2.5 installed, but the old 2.0.2 files on my server, will it harm anything if I ran the uninstaller? Should I convert the ame tags back to url tags?

Sorry, but after what happened yesterday, I'm going to be a bit over-cautious.

The Geek 10-07-2008 01:18 PM

You will be fine to uninstall from the product manager and then reinstall the 2.0.2 product xml.

Kurt - Will look into it, but it may not be for awhile. Maybe there is a hack for limiting the # of URLs?

Check that the forums/amecache folder is writeable by the server (i.e. chmoded 0777)
Check that the path to the folder is accurate in your settings (admincp->ame cp->settings)

I made these checks and everything was correct. I then clicked save on the settings page without changing anything and the warnings have now disappeared. Very strange?? :D

rest of the procedure was followed as told.

am i missing something?

Dear Geek
I installed AME2.0.2
but as i mentioned that the images are not appearing.
no there is no broken image link.
since youtube was wroking fine, i didnt worry much.
but many other urls are not working.
then iread your first post again, tried to understand what it means. and found out that n order to have many other websites supported, i need to install DJ's hack as well. i did that just now.

but that hack is for 3.6.8 right? i am suing 3.7.3

i installed the hack anyways, but it is still not supporting bLIP links....neither my forum shows any amazon images.........

the link to the thread where such url is not showing video is as following:

i will appreciate your feed back.

thank you

MonkYZ 10-09-2008 06:39 AM

Nadeemjp: i see in your link you have a .flv directly
You should use a link like this

Nadeemjp 10-09-2008 07:44 AM

oh MonkYZ, you mean i should remove the .flv extension?:o

well if it works that way, then i would be highly obliged by your tip.

thanx

After adding it, I posted a link and an embed link and neither worked. Yes I turned it on, via settings.

Hi there, I am wondering if this has been taken care of? The link you posted containes AME videos - however please remember that blip isnt included in the default installation so you would need to direct your queries on non default definitions to the author of the definition.

As to Amazon links... are the URL titles being converted to destination titles? Either way, can you provide a link so I can test at my end?

This just isn't enough information for me to help.

If links do not seem to be taking place... I need to know:
1- The version you are using
2- The URL that isnt linking for you
3- If you are using the file cache
4- The area you are trying to link in (i.e. a post, signature, etc...)

When ive added youtube videos it will say "Sorry this video is no longer available" from youtube, however when you visit the link to the youtube site it works.

Over 75% of videos do not work or something is wrong with the hack... but the funny thing is some are allowed to work whilst others arent?

Why is this happening?
