iojam 10-15-2008 06:56 AM

Hello,

do you mean "Show Reports List" or "Show Sitemap Downloads Log" or "Show SE Bots Activity Log"?
Did you generate sitemap?

exportforce 10-15-2008 10:19 AM

Absolutly awesome.
But please try a workaround, that it can read and link stuff like VBA-Links, or stuff from "downloads"-Addons.

jera 10-15-2008 12:22 PM

In the "readme" is writed how install for
IIS Web Server
Lighttpd Web Server
Zeus Web Server
Litespeed Web Server

But if I have Apache 1.3.41. how must I make install?

Lizard King 10-15-2008 01:58 PM

Hello jera ,

You need to have mod_rewrite support on apache servers. If you have mod_rewrite support please upload .htaccess file to your forum root.

hotwheels 10-16-2008 01:10 AM

I have been getting this error:

Quote:

[SECTION START] tags [3,655.5Kb mem used] [677,033s (+677,033s)]
[create sitemap index] filename: sitemap_index.xml.gz, number of sitemaps: 3 [3,657.1Kb mem used] [677,033s (+0s)]

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30805217 bytes) in /home/public_html/forums/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_sitemap_functions.php on line 1298
Is there a fix or something i am overlooking while trying to run my site map?

thanks,
hotwheels

Lizard King 10-16-2008 01:28 AM

Hello Doug ,

You can disable creating txt based sitemap files as Yahoo now also supports xml sitemap files.

you can generate sitemap and then manually move sitemap file (*.gz) from vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder to your forums folder.

Thanks a lot iojam.
Installation was OK, but when I clicked on "Run Sitemap Generator", I got this error message:
Warning: unlink(E:\Sites\******.com\httpdocs\forum\vbseo_si temap/data/progress.dat) [function.unlink]: Permission denied in E:\Sites\******.com\httpdocs\forum\vbseo_sitemap\v bseo_sitemap_functions.php on line 1074
Sitemap has been created.
But the *.xml files and *.txt file looks ok after unzipping.
Is there anyway to stop this error message?

One more thing please, the vbseo sitemap lists only the /forum files, but not the root website, so I had to add the missing files manually.
Is there anyway that vbseo sitemap would index the whole website?
Thanks.

I tried that earlier in the evening, and it didn't change.......let me try it again and wait about 15 minutes for my database to update........thanks for the quick reply.

Nope........I still get the same error

thanks for the assistance though.......

hotwheels 10-16-2008 04:13 PM

I figured out the problem. I have been running the program for several years and my sitemap.gz files were to large to run anymore, therefore it was showing the above error.

What i did to fix this was:

Went to my server, and then to my /forums/vbseo_sitemap/data
I then deleted all of the sitemaps.gz files and the urltext.gz file.
I went back to my admincp and reran the sitemaps, and it worked like a charm.

If anyone needs help on this particular promblem, just pm me or repost here and i will make a much more thorough post about fixing the problem.

I have two questions:

1. In my Show Sitemap Downloads Log there is 120 pages of listings. How can I clear all these pages at once with out going page by page and deleting the entries?

2. What is the SE Bots Activity Log? When I click on it the listing is empty. Does this require the full version of VBSEO to work?

Lizard King 10-18-2008 03:58 AM

1. If you want to delete all existing listings within your sitemaps you can manually delete all xml.gz files within vbseo_sitemap/data folder.

2. Yes it requires vBSEO

1. Your are referring to sitemap_1.xml.gz thu sitemap_40.xml.gz right?

2. Thank you, I'll pass on that one.

Lizard King 10-18-2008 05:51 AM

Yes

Shazz 10-18-2008 03:01 PM

Just installed vBSEO and I checked the first option "Yes"
How much does this affect the sitemap?

There is a lot of controversy on this and everyone has there opinion and experiences. I for one would uninstall it right now before you get to far along with it. But then again that is from my experience and it is my opinion.

Before you installed something like this you should have done a lot of reading on it first because there is a lot of cons on this in my opnion. This does not promise to help you site ratings. If you manage you site good it is not needed but that again is my opnion.

The biggest issue your going to have is that now that you have installed it you can never uninstall it. You stuck using it forever.

Your going to find out that the rewrites change all the url links to everything on your web site.

flashwave 10-20-2008 03:17 PM

Sitemaps are only generated correctly when I run the script from "Scheduled Tasks" manually ("run now").

The automatic sitemap generation and manual generation through /vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_sitemap.php are not working as expected: the sitemap consists of only 3 or 4 urls in these cases (there should be around 200000).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Did you set up the cron job to generate your site map?

That same thing happened to me on the web site I installed it on. They said it would take a while to build back up. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I kept it up for I think three to four months. I never received the results they said I would. In fact everything went downhill.

I ended up uninstalling it and in about a month or two I was back to where I was before the install. The only problem I had was the url rewrites. They cause havoc on my site because when users posted a url within my site they used the url rewritten link that VBSEO did and when I uninstalled it the the rewrites went away and the links would not work. That was why I said if you have any doubts at all remove it right away before it does to many rewrites because if you wait to long you will have no choice but to leave it installed. It is one of those things where if you want to remove it later you can not because it will cause to much damage.

Have you posted this on vBSEO?

iojam 10-21-2008 06:14 AM

flashwave,

it looks like your subforums are private (not visible to guests) - in this case they are not included in sitemap.

Black Widow 10-21-2008 10:10 AM

I have issue that i cannot explain.
Everything is working good except that the following sections are empty:

Social Group URLs 0 (-)
Tag URLs 0 (-)

I do have users with albums and they can be seen by guests.
I do have social groups and they can be seen by guests.

is there any way for this script to create a sitemap of my entire website and not only just the forums? i already have vbseo installed in my forum. the rest of my site is another php script for classifieds that has its own SEO and its dynamic. i would like these links to be included in the sitemap of vbseo. im not a php coder to create an addon :(

Feature Request:
Make the process pause for a number of seconds after X amount of queries. This modification has crashed my server due to it running for over 30 seconds. I have a lot of posts and members, and don't like crashing -_-

Best opton for yuoı is to disable text base sitemap and remove showpost urls from sitemaps.

showpost is the actual post though aren't they? That's like the most important piece.

Look like this. Both showthread and showpost have same content. Which one will you prefer SE's to index and as a guest which one will keep you on the site longer.

You can manually submit it to: https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites
