DJ I've been having a problem iwth some of the YouTube videos that are being posted on my site. People post videos that are still available but on the site it says that it's not within the video player.

Here is a link to one of the threads that has this problem http://spiralgaming.net/Forums/showthread.php?t=128.

Thanks ahead of time.

Is there any chance for Viddler to work again ? Links like http://www.viddler.com/explore/TheGa...videos/21/3.94 seem to not work anymore. Thx in advance !

Seem they only work if the user is actually entering the "Permalink" from Viddler. And nobody actually does that :)

PHILLYFAN 09-06-2008 04:55 PM

im not following. I uploaded master file. How do i get espn video's to work?

Did you remember to edit the Locally Hosted Definitions with your site name? Not just the title but in the YOUR_SITE_NAME_HERE in the HTML?

Thanks for the offer of assistance.

The new embed code for EASW is:

Code:

Current Code in the AME Replacement Box:
Code:

<object width="425" height="355">
      <param name="movie" value="http://ll-999.ea.com/sonet-easw/2.3.6.00/flash/sw/videos/mediaplayer.swf?file=http://videocdn.easw.easports.com/easportsworld/media$p1/$p2.flv&link=http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/video/$p3&linkfromdisplay=true&linktarget=_top&image=http://ll-999.ea.com/sonet-easw/2.3.6.00/images/sw/videos/preview.jpg&skin=http://ll-999.ea.com/sonet-easw/2.3.6.00/flash/sw/videos/skin.swf" />

    </object>

Now, I have tried and tried to edit the code, but I'm shooting in the dark here and no matter what I do, the same video displays even if I change the file name.

What's happening is the embed information isn't being pulled. Make sure you have Extract destination data enabled both globally AND in the EASportsWorld definition.

Each of the videos posted that say they are not available have had embedding disabled by the author of the video. All the record labels that have YouTube channels do this for sure. If you see a video on YouTube that you want to post, and the Embed Code box says Embedding Disabled by Request, that video will not embed anywhere.

Viddler seems to like to use umpteen million URL strings. I didn't see any like these when I first made it (Did I make Viddler? I can't remember anymore.) I'll have to account for them on the next update.

Uploaded? Do you mean you Imported it through your AME CP? If so, now you just post links to videos.

Thanks!

That's what I'm going to have to do (though I imagine it will still be tedious). The problem lies in the individual definitions in the Main ZIP file. I'm not sure what to do in that case.

So....

Export definitions, search and replace on the export file, import, export again (to get default keys) and tweak keys where needed :)

In the last version you sent me, it wouldn't create a key for me. And unless I put something in that field, it would not import. Then when I put something in, it would indeed import, but it wouldn't actually save the key. The red NO KEY warning would appear beside the definition listing.

Of course, that last time I updated I only replaced that one PHP file. Let me see if a full update fixes that.

Actually, both are set and have been set from the start. :)

Somethings not right with with the extraction, because that same video embedded and played on my site. Your variables are not parsing for some reason or another. Have you tested another definition that depends on extraction?

madscientist06 09-07-2008 06:02 PM

Hmmm. Not sure DJ.

I edited a couple things. I have now deleted the definition and imported again. I'll see what I can come up with for another 30 minutes.

I did figure out how to make a custom BB Code, so that will do for the moment. Thanks for dedicating some time on my issue. At least I know the problem is on my end. It may take me a while, but I'll figure it out.

Thanks,

Mad

DJ, is there a way to add support for Amazon On Demand rental/purchases? They show up almost like the other Amazon products using AME except there is no art associated with it.

TsirhCitna 09-08-2008 04:24 PM

Will the local definitions work with videos in this addon?

As long as it's not an adult site you can post the link here. Or is there some other reason you don't it posted?

Theoretically, I should be able to account for it. It might require a slight adjustment to all the definitions though. I'll look into it.

It depends on what extension media ends up with once uploaded. I use Downloads II on my site, and I run into the same problem with it as I do with attachments. Everything ends with the same extension. So there's no way for the definition to distinguish between specif media or just ZIP files.

Some could consider it adult, but would rather just keep it off the boards.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Hi Digital Jedi,

When you will update the xml to work with the version 2.5 of AME?

Code:

Can not save Import because of the following error(s):

    * Some keys are empty
    * Some keys contain invalid characters and must be validated prior to import.

Thanks,

edit: now I understand that problem is in AME plugin, the RED message still after import any entry to test.

Well, send me the link and I'll tell you whether I can make it or hand it off to Digital Sith. Did you check his definitions for Adult Sites to see if it was already there?

I'll update them sometime in the next couple of weeks. I just got caught flat-footed. In the meantime, enter in a key name during import. Yes, I know you'll get the red message. All you have to do is put the key name in again. It's just a small bug, but will be irrelevant once I get the definitions updated.

shlomot 09-12-2008 07:20 AM

You need to add the <ameid></ameid> tags for each site with a unique key that is consists of characters, digits, and underscore.

Hopefully I'll manage to prepare a fixed version of the full XML file by this weekend and will post it here.

Gamespot seems to be broken. It's showing me strange characters above and beyound the player. Hope it can be fixed :)

shlomot 09-12-2008 03:32 PM

Sorry, I meant well, but the problem doesn't end by adding the unique key value to the item XML record.

We need to wait for the new version to be provided by the author.

You can still download the xml file attachment here. I also removed Google Videos, YouTube, and MySpace because they conflict with the existing records that are included with the original mod.

That's actually why The Geek added the keys for this verison. To prevent dulplicate entries with the same key name. I'll get to it. It's just, as I said, I got caught flat-footed.

You just ask and I'll see if I can make a definition. What is phpfox exactly?

Digital Jedi 09-15-2008 02:53 PM

Just to let everyone know, the next update message you receive will not be for new definitions, but for updated definitions for AME 2.5. The new definitions update will be sometime after that. Exactly when, I can't say.

Another vote for Google Maps. They do provide an embed code.

They do, but that's not all that is required to make a working definition. The most crucial aspect is being able to reference consistent and pertinent data in either the URL or the source page. I've worked on this for quite a while, and for the moment, the problem lies in the fact that the pertinent data is not able to be referenced.

In the example you sent me, take a look at the destination page the video is on. It's not Putfile's standard media player. It's a WMV file playing locally. AME can only create one embed code per definition. When sites split their media up like this and don't provide anything distinguishing in their URL strings, there's nothing that can be done. I'm actually considering dropping a couple of sites because they started splitting their media up excessively.

ski diva 09-15-2008 11:33 PM

Thanks! That explains it perfectly!!! Appreciate the help.

Ok. Here is a link: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/s...video-review-1
Adding that link will embedd the video player, but will show some strange characters inside the post (that don't appear on editing). Something like
Code:

[url="
and then at the bottom of the post
"]GameSpot Video: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Video Review 1

Digital Jedi 09-16-2008 09:34 PM

I've seen it do this before. This only happens during editing, doesn't it? All it's doing, for some reason I don't quite understand, is adding another [url] tag to the front of the post. Just repaste the raw link and will edit properly.

Unfortunatelly, when editing, it looks perfect. Even pasting again looks ok. Only when viewing it looks strange. Here is an example (maybe it helps).
