My thanks since installing this latest version are no longer displayed like they used to due to the markup (which is a feature I really do not want to disable as it is great!)

however take a look: http://www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/ru...nial-info.html

Many usernames are on separate lines

You can disable it in the post thanks ACP settings.

I have a problem. I've just upgraded to 7.3 version (i'm still running vb 3.6.8).

Everything was perfect till i updated the post thanks counters. Now i have this error message at the top of some showthread-showpost pages:
Code:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/functions_post_thanks.php on line 222
(you have to login, guests are not allowed to view the thanks)
Username: Tester
Password: asd123
Example:
http://www.msxlabs.org/forum/showpos...1&postcount=10
http://www.msxlabs.org/forum/showpos...1&postcount=19
http://www.msxlabs.org/forum/showpos...5&postcount=20

I think it's related to deleted-merged member accounts. How to fix this?

Edit: I've found a fix here https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....postcount=1857

Error message's gone but it displays an empty thanks box. Well, the thanks box is displayed because there are some thanks by deleted members and their usernames aren't displayed as they are deleted. How to hide it?

Use the "Delete All thanks" option.

Found problem with gars..
edit the line 222 into function_post_thanks.php and added if statment for check if $thanks is array..

Abe.. need to fix problem with gars add-on... How possible to fix this?

If you want I take to you a gars package.. ;)

Thanks :)

If this has been addressed I'm sorry but is there a way to turn off the tracking on thanks in posts?

So far my membership seems divided on this mod and I'm hoping if there's not the tracking to make it feel like a popularity contest it might help.

Over all I personally think this is a wonderful mod btw. :)

choccyclaire 03-23-2008 12:46 PM

When I upgraded to the newest version, the count doesn't show in their profile;

* Total Thanks:
* Thanked:
times in posts
* Find all thanked posts by choccyclaire
* Find all posts thanked by choccyclaire

But it's missing the numbers. The numbers appear in postbit.

I'm running 3.7 beta 5.

I've also gone through the whole updating counters options.

EDIT: Nvm, I reverted the memberinfo block template. I didn't even know I edited that!

Use the revert option on the template if you have it edited.

Ok, I reverted it, but all that did was remove the "Thanks" box as part of the member profile....

It removed this statement ....... $template_hook[memberinfo_foruminfo]

As per the original post, I'm just trying to get a carriage return to separate the two "thanks" statements as opposed to having them run together.

Thanks .. :)

If the attached image is what you're after; there's a few ways to accomplish this, but an easy one...

In the product-post_thanks.xml file...

Find...

PHP Code:

            <td>
                <
a href="post_thanks.php?$session[sessionurl]do=findthanks&amp;u=$userinfo[userid]"><phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[post_thanks_search_user]</phrase></a>
            </
td>
            <
td>
                <
a href="post_thanks.php?$session[sessionurl]do=findthanks_user_gave&amp;u=$userinfo[userid]"><phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[post_thanks_search_user_gave]</phrase></a>
            </
td

Replace with...

PHP Code:

            <td>
                <
a href="post_thanks.php?$session[sessionurl]do=findthanks&amp;u=$userinfo[userid]"><phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[post_thanks_search_user]</phrase></a><br />
                <
a href="post_thanks.php?$session[sessionurl]do=findthanks_user_gave&amp;u=$userinfo[userid]"><phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[post_thanks_search_user_gave]</phrase></a>
            </
td

Sorry.. I probably used the wrong term (I'm still fairly new to vBulletin, etc and and still learning terminology). What I'm talking about is where it tracks thanks and thanked under "posts" etc like this:

Can I turn the bolded part off?

Thanks! :)

Abe what conditional should I use in the template to show something only to members who have already said thanks?

Well "$display_thanks_image == 'none'" should show the text if the thanks button will not be showing.

Hi. I did something really dumb. It was late, and for some reason while upgrading from vb 3.6.8 to 3.7 I uninstalled the old thanks before installing the new one. Everyone lost their thanks and some people are pissed. I have good daily backups. I restored the post_thanks table. What else do I need to restore to make the thanks show up in threads and have the thanks counts be correct? Thank you very much! :D

On our MySQL Server (5.2.5) I'm just reporting this too you on install took about 1 minute to go thru and install via the product plugin xml:

Quote:

TOP:

PID USER PR NI %CPU TIME+ %MEM VIRT RES SHR S COMMAND
23299 mysql 22 6 72.7 9:49.76 5.8 370m 117m 3908 S /usr/sbin/mysqld --basedir=/ --datadir=/var/lib/mysql --user=mysql --pid-file=/var
Just wanted to point this too you so if others have issues you may wanna look into this.

I did an strace on the PID as well at the same time and confirmed it was this install.

physiart 04-01-2008 12:41 PM

Thanks for the hack {clicked install}.

Is there a way to display thanked posts as new posts when clicking on the "New Posts" button?

P.S. BTW, what's a markup username?

MR-2ZZ 04-01-2008 03:14 PM

I didnt see but is there a way to limit the amount of thanks a person gives in a day?

tgillespie 04-01-2008 04:57 PM

Great hack. Thanks a bunch. I've modified it a bit to act more or less like a Digg system. Saved me a lot of time.

My only question, is there a way to show the search results as thread titles only? I've modified $showposts in post_thanks.php to 0, but it still shows the posts and not thread titles only. Any help appreciated.

Namaless 04-01-2008 08:07 PM

Abe you have news for GARS integration?
Thanks ^_^

mblb 04-03-2008 10:20 PM

It's not working properly for me. The buttons are showing but when you click one they just both disappear. They don't count. I am using 3.6.9

Guest210212002 04-04-2008 12:41 PM

Is there a way to disable the auto-insert of the thanks button, and manually add it to skins? This hack works fine, but it's putting my (heavy) normal thanks button into my mobile theme, and I can't seem to find where to remove it.

Sothside40 04-04-2008 08:37 PM

the system was being abused on my forum and now no one wants it, is there a way to disable the thanks-reputation system....and take off all of the rep that the users got from the thanks hack??

maidos 04-05-2008 12:47 AM

when posting thanks can you make so a special icon appear on the forum sections thread, since its better if to know who that just used the thank you button

Backing out the reputation given is probably going to be hard. The hack adds rep to the original rep system, and is not stand alone. I would presume the only way to back it out would be manually. As far as controlling rep, you might consider lowering the rep amount to a small number or even 0.

Remove all the code from the button template for each of those styles.

NsT 04-06-2008 04:22 PM

Hi,

I got a problem with the Post Thanks system, it used to work fine but when I updated it to the latest version, now the Post Thanks button disappeared. I don't really know what happened and how to get the button shown on the post again. Can you please help?

When I view source, I see this:

<!-- Start Post Thank You Hack -->

<!-- End Post Thank You Hack -->

So the code of the post thank you hack is missing.

Cheers,
Tung

theOZer 04-06-2008 06:58 PM

Did you upgrade using the correct mod? There's a 36x and a 37x mod.

NsT 04-06-2008 07:00 PM

Yes I followed the instruction of the 3.6.8 version. In fact, it worked after I upgraded, however, now the button disappeared.

What should I do now?

theOZer 04-06-2008 07:13 PM

Is Post Thanks turned on in your AdminCP?

By the way, you're posting in the 37x Post Thanks thread.
