You'd rather have somebody else search for it for you? There is a Search this Mod button in the upper right corner. It's worked really well for me when I've had modification problems and haven't wanted to read several pages to find the fix.

I notice this system, displays the link in memberinfo for all usergroups ( but only works ) for admins mods etc.

Needs conditionals for it to display ( or not as the case maybe )

I noticed this as well. I wish someone would pick up this mod and update it for 3.8 and fix that bug. It's a handy tool!

Lynne 10-06-2009 01:20 PM

The One-Touch Ban & clean link on the member.php page? On my 3.8 site, it only shows for Admin/Mods. It doesn't show for other usergroups at all.

Deib 10-13-2009 01:31 AM

I don't have any problem with it showing on 3.8 either.

ams3521 10-13-2009 09:02 PM

Hi and thanks for a great mod, My deepest sympathies also to the authors family and friends as I had no idea he had passed away.

After reading this thread page for page I can find no answer to my problem which is when i install this hack everything works fine but there is no 'submit' button to carry out the banning command, any help greatly appreciated.
I'm using VB 3.8.

[UPDATE] resolved
The problem was that in config.php "disable hooks" was set to enabled. Aah..

I am experiencing the "smilie" issue with this plugin. Nothing was changed in the forum, its templates, or configuration. One day it would simply stop working correctly, and show the smilies page instead of the usual "confirm you want to do this" question.

The URL which is getting called is: http://forum.dekart.com/misc.php?do=...confirm&u=2608 (the last number is replaced with a given user ID).

I was using 1.1, but saw that 1.2b is available - updated to it, but there is no effect.

I also uninstalled and installed the plugin - still no effect.

I must also point out that unlike other people who reported the same problem, I don't see any PHP error messages or warnings, I just see the smilies page. I checked, PHP warnings are supposed to be enabled, phpinfo() confirms that. Currently it is set to "ALL".

I used VBulletin's feature that verifies the integrity of the files and I am certain that they are intact.

Can someone recommend a troubleshooting strategy?

I've looked inside misc.php, trying to understand why the smileys are showing up . The following code explains it:
Code:

// allows proper template caching for the default action (showsmilies) if no valid action is specified
if (!empty($_REQUEST['do']) AND !isset($actiontemplates["$_REQUEST[do]"]))
{
        $actiontemplates["$_REQUEST[do]"] =& $actiontemplates['showsmilies'];
}

If I look further, I see the logic for various actions, ex:
Code:

if ($_REQUEST['do'] == 'attachments') ................

..

if ($_REQUEST['do'] == 'buddylist')

But there is nothing of this kind
Code:

if ($_REQUEST['do'] == 'spamcleanconfirm')

So, I am not surprised that the smilies page is shown :-) but I have no clue how come it used to work in the past.

pitzerwm 10-31-2009 10:53 AM

i don't have that option in member.php as well. i had it in old version. is it possible to tell how we can add that link manually ?

Thanks in advance.

pitzerwm 11-03-2009 10:23 PM

I updated to 1.2 and it now works in 3.8.4, thankfully.

megamoose 11-04-2009 08:40 PM

Fantastic. Just fantastic. Thanks so much.

gerbil249 11-04-2009 09:24 PM

Thanks! Great mod!

PossumX 12-05-2009 01:00 PM

This is one great modification, and the passing of the developer is a tragedy (just read through alot of information on him).

Is there anyone out there who will pick this up moving forward into vB 4.0, or will it, too, rest in peace?

ravenfaust 12-16-2009 11:12 AM

this works fine in 3.8 :) , i guess this guy knew how to make plugins, :( R.i.P

The Smoking Gun 12-16-2009 02:32 PM

Yes it is a beauty of a step saver and simple for even lowly leaders to use, but if you read through the posts a ways back (I know, it's allot to read) you will see that someone was nice enough to contribute to keeping it alive by updating it as was needed to work, but not sure it will be so for 4.0!

TSG!

Some similar already exists in VB4 so there is no real need for this mod

BadgerDog 01-04-2010 05:50 PM

Just a caveat with this mod ... ;)

I had to uninstall it after noticing a peculiar behaviour under certain circumstances.

If one clicked on the "One Touch Ban" option from the user drop down in post bit, it would work fine and do everything perfectly for that user, providing the post was just the only one in the thread.

If the post was part of a series of posts in a thread, it would pick up the user name from the very first poster at the top of any page in the thread, using him as the target for the "One Touch Ban".

I have no idea why it was doing this (conflict with another mod maybe?), but given the circumstances here, plus I found a similar mod to handle ban and clean ups, I decided to simply remove this mod.

I thought I'd comment here after doing that, not to create controversy, but perhaps remind people to check the user name when it prompts it's going to delete posts and everything. :D

Badger

I know this tool is for older vbull versions, but one of the forums I help run...we use this tool. We can not get it to work within a PM even though the option shows up in the drop-down menu below the username. The error we get is
Quote:

This user is protected. You may not use this tool on this user.
It works great from a thread started by a spammer, but if X user has no posts, but instead PM's spam, it won't ban and clean from the PM....for some reason.

If you try to "one touch ban" from a user's name in the postbit, it tries to ban the 1st poster in the thread, not the user whose name you've clicked on.

Obviously, it's the wrong variable is being used.

arn

Yes, it's a problem, but I could never figure out why ... :confused:

Users need to be careful when using the mod from the "drop down" profile box, or they could end up banning the wrong user. It works fine from the member's profile screen.

It would be nice if this mod could be upgraded to optimise vbulletin 3.8 or 4 its 'delete as spam' function.
Im using this mod on http://www.nuhit.com/forums/ but due to this mods time limitation I am not able to get rid of all spam posts.

Time limitation? As in if the member registered more than X amount of days ago you can not use the 1 touch on them? If so, that can be changed in the plug-in options. It's the last option. Set a new value for the maximum number of days or use 0 to disable.

And, it works on 3.8.x, at least for me. I have no idea about vB4 though because I've yet to even try it.

Just tried, it doesn't work. just comes up with template errors and it doesn't show via posts :)

PossumX 02-26-2010 08:39 PM

You're going to have to find someone to do this for vB4, as the author died in a tragic accident on 10/03/2008:

From the head of this mod title:

*** Staff note: The author of this modification has passed away in a diving accident. We wish his family all strength in dealing with this traggic issue. ***

Sorry to hear this coder passed away in such tragic accident. All best wishes to his family!

@Rbrashear68: Yes, check the settings in your admincp for protected user or usergroups.

Login to the AdminCP, change the spammer's password, then login as him. Create a post by that user, logoff, then back on as you, and voila, One Touch Ban and Clean his arse.

that's how I do it anyway.

Cantoni 04-15-2010 07:08 PM

Thanks for this plugin! I send my regards to the programmer's family.

italynstylion 05-02-2010 03:02 PM

Is there any update on a workaround for VB4? It's a tedious process to do a complete ban for spam on the new VB and I'm desperate for a one touch clean option like I've used on other forums.

Sorry to hear about the developer. That's just terrible.

TroyTrojansFan 05-14-2010 08:34 PM

I think it would be a wonderful addition to the vb4 mod area. I hope someone will pick this project up and run with it.

Prayers for the developer's family.

Adam H 05-14-2010 08:44 PM

I have got it running with VB4 for my forums , its still in test stages so i wouldnt be comfortable with giving it to anyone else yet incase something went wrong,

Also the author of the plugin has stated that :

This modification may not be copied, reproduced or published elsewhere without author's permission.

So it isnt something that could be downloaded from VB.org

I think the original developer's brother is a member here as well if memory serves. It seems if I remember right that after the time of the accident the brother had given permission for the modification to be continued as people really enjoyed the mod and the time the original developer spent on it. I have just found the mod so useful that I was hoping it could be adjusted for vb4. I've written Marco for advice on how to proceed with this. Perhaps they kept a record of that situation that they can refer back to?

Again, praying for the family of the original developer.

I'm hoping we can get an OK. I think it would be a really nice way to remember the original developer for his giving back to the vb community with the modification. He seemed like a really nice guy. :-)

johnrizz 05-15-2010 03:19 PM

Its on page 17, post 247....

BobbyBig 05-27-2010 01:35 AM

We need this mod for 4.0.3 too :(

evannn 06-30-2010 12:23 AM

has anybody got this working for vb4? I don't mind paying a small token sum for it

You misunderstand the meaning. The sentence means that you can't take code from here and distribute it on other vbulletin mod sites, without the author's permission.

atcspaul 09-20-2010 09:59 PM

would love this for vb4. i think it is one of the best mods ever
