If anyone else doesn't want to wait for the updated plugin, as I couldn't ;) and you don't mind doing it all though a template edit instead of using a plugin, I described how do it using a similar template mod here:

I installed this on 3.5 Gold and it works perfectly :) I had to insert the $forum[forumhomeicon] manually though, because copy and pasting the code above was giving me an error. Instead of saying (10 viewing) or whatever, it was saying (Array Viewing).

I do have one question though. Is there any way I can get my icon to show up all the way to the right of the forum name and description, next to the "last post" column? I tried tweaking it a little bit but the tables kept getting distorted and unaligned.

Refer to the template mod I linked to a couple of posts above this one to have the icons on the right.
