The issue here isn't one of not being aware of the fraud, it's one of being aware of it and not taking any action to prevent it from occurring again. You can't offer a service and then knowingly allow people to use it to commit a crime without a reasonable chance of liability on your part.

I agree Mike. This problem is symptomatic of other issues Jelsoft still faces with this site. Hopefully there will be an official response here soon as it is indeed a serious issue with possible serious ramifications for many who visit here.

I asked him several times to be honest if you cant do it just tell me, oh no it will be done tomorrow, then nothing over and over, I never did get the code.

Shawn I refunded that deposit and that was what about a year and a half ago.

I'm seriously hoping that more people who are potential victims have a look at this thread before they decide to go with him and no money upfront.

This project was taken care of at the end of november. So you have your code.

sorry to say but reckon u gonna have to put it down to experience,Ive said before if u get stung on this board then you basically on your own.
Look at the time that has expired since you 1st done this thread and what has been achieved by it except, only thing you have managed to do is to tell people who ripped u off.
Nothing is gonna change and i reckon this thread will be closed as soon as one person says one wrong thing.
Maybe u should add a vote to this thread, such as should we ban the guy or not and lets see what the real outcome would be :).
Regardless if he gets banned or not at least we would know just how people feel.

I have decided in the future to only have coding done via an escrow agent. I am not sure if anyone can recommend a good one but it seems this is the best solution, to have a 3rd party control the funds.

1.ask for a job
2.coders takes the job
3.coder gets notice from escrow agent that i've deposited his funds
4. coder completes job
5. funds are released

I have a large site with a good reputation so I would think they could trust me. It's sad to see things come to this but paying any money up front around here is damn risky..

acerulezz 12-13-2006 01:42 AM

don't think i am putting down as big an amount as that on experience.
If he wants to do anything, he will have to pay back. He certainly comes around here like he did yesterday to post here. So obviously he is sane.
If he chooses not to pay, let him live and enjoy this thread. I don't think anything has been said in this thread thats wrong. This guy himself acknowledged that he owes me money and thats there for all to see. I am asking for money thats mine.
He can carry on not paying and this thread will remain at top so that others know what kind of a guy he is. He decides to pay , on the other hand, then i can move on.

Either way i feel pity for that fellow. Never knew a guy will make a break for it for 300bucks especially for as old a member as he is or was.

There is nothing to 'sort' through. You asked me to send you a detailed list of the errors (which I did). I even resent the extensive list because you claimed you 'lost my email' when your 'computer crashed' (it was sent via pm).

Exactly. You have not attempted to help me with your (now defunct product) in any way.

As you indicated in this post, I purchased your script on 11/20. Today is 12/11, and the spelling errors have not been fixed - despite the fact that you were given a detailed list of the errors and the corrections. (Even if you had fixed one error per day, you would be about done, by now.)

Morever, when I first brought the spelling and technical problems to your attention, your response was to pull the entire script from purchase. You also indicated that that a NEW script would be released 'within a few days' and that earlier customers would get that script at no charge. Needless to say, this hasn't happened, nor have you responded to my requests for a date that the new script would be released.

Lastly, I also paid for installation service that you didn't perform. This wasn't refunded either.

You are a scammer, who like the others, always needs 'time to sort through things' or has 'computer crashes' when a customer has a complaint.

Fortunately, in all the years I've been a member here, this is the first scam I've been taken by. As I stated ealier, the overwhelming majority of coders and others here are very honest people who do fantastic work.

ETA - UPDATE
I just received an email indicating that all spelling errors that I reported have been fixed, and I am to uninstall the old product and re-install the corrected one. So, for now, the only thing I'm out is the money I paid for 'installation service' that was never performed or attempted.

I will refund your installation money later today or tomorrow and as i have said i am no scammer i will help as i do with all my scripts free and payed ones.

There is a new league system that will be coming out but as i said this is not finished and will take a while to sort out and i did not say it would be ready in a few days.

Also as for spelling problems in the league you could have sorted these out yourself in the phrases manager as these where there.

If i was scamming you i would not be on here trying to sort it all out.
You have to also remember i work 8 hours aday and have a family to look after.
I do not code for a living and i will take my time making changes as thats how i code i dont rush things as it should not be rushed.
And yes my spelling is not the best thats why all the text to my scripts is in the phrases manager so that members like yourself can change them to the way you want.

So dont put my down for a service when i do have alot going on im my life that you would never know and i would not tell you.
I do my best to give help and i have one person thats you thats trying to say im a scammer when in fact i have not.

I hate to tell you this - but once you decided to accept money in exchange for providing a product or service, all of that ceases to mean anything to anyone but you. It's a "YP" - YOUR Problem. If you can't do the job due to other factors, you shouldn't offer the service or take the money, its that simple.

It's excellent and commendable that you are trying to make things good so don't get me wrong about that. It definately helps differentiate you from a scammer who just wants to rip someone off. But the "I don't code for a living", "I have other things going on in my life", etc. are excuses, and when someone has paid for something, they don't want excuses, they want what they paid for. It's not like you are doing them a favor.

who pulled your chain i am not using them as excuses thats the facts.
I am not like all of you spend all my time on the net i have a life outside the net.
As you will see from all my scripts i do help and answer and fix most problems within a few days as you can see from my free scripts here.
I always try and help or fix problems even if they are not my scripts.
And yes i am offering a service but that still does not say that i have to be online 24/7 to answer all questions.
It may take a day or 2 before i can answer any questions.
