Ok, I won't read 72 pages for a quick answer so give a break guys.
I've installed it and it works fine. Problem is for the "latest threads", I don't want what I have in my moderator forums to show up. The forums are hidden from members. I couldn't find a way to hide those threads....any help?

PKRWUD 04-18-2003 12:19 PM

Actually, that's an excellent point. I'm not sure if it's been covered or not, but I have made it a point of telling my moderators to keep that fact in mind when they start a new thread in my staff only forums.

If there is a solution for this, I'm all ears too!

Take care,
~Chris

P.S. Tigga, thanks for trying to solve my weather problem! I understand, and that's cool. I appreciate your taking the time to look into it personally.

i put the correct forum # for my news forum and the middle is still blank, what am i missing?

Tigga 04-18-2003 05:56 PM

MuSuL - By default the script will only pull threads that your users have permission to view. If it's still pulling threads which users shouldn't have persmission to view, you most likely don't have your forum permissions set correctly. Go in your Admin CP, click on "Forum Permissions", and then double check that your private forums are set not to allow users to view threads for each usergroup that shouldn't have permission, and that "Use custom settings" at the top is selected. I'm about 99% sure that if the permissions are set correctly that it will work fine, but someone is having that problem would like me to take a look let me know.

PKRWUD - No problem at all. Be sure to read about the permissions above and if you can't get it sorted out I'll be glad to take a look at things.

chitown - Did you read the FAQ section in the readme file? ;)

chitown 04-18-2003 06:26 PM

permissions are fine, i have changed the id of the forum to just about every forum id # and none of them show up

Tigga 04-18-2003 06:33 PM

<i>Taken straight from the readme file.</i>

Q. I installed the script and it seems to work, but no news topics are showing up in the center.
A. mYvBindex adds an extra colum to your post table to determine whether or not the post is the first in the thread. Any posts that were made in your news forum before you installed this script will not be displayed. You can update these posts by uploading the myvb_install.php file to your forums/admin folder and selecting the option to update your news posts.
If you are having problems getting posts to display that were created After you installed myvbindex, be sure that your News Forum ID is set correctly and that you modified your newthread.php file and uploaded it to your server.

Airs - I'm still not sure I follow you here... Are you just trying to add more "boxes" to your myvbindex page that will have links in them? Or are you saying you want more pages like the myvbindex page but with different content replacing the news or something to that effect?

kerpen - Check your PMs. :)

the second one ;p.

Tigga 04-18-2003 09:44 PM

Ahhh, ok. :)
If you'll refer to this post, it will show you how to add one seperate page in place of the news. Then if you'll look at the instructions I posted here to Matrix, that will tell you what you would need to do to add more than one seperate page after you've added the first. It should be pretty easy to figure out from those instructions, but if you have any problems let me know.

I'd really like to see a "source" add-on with this, so when you're creating a thread you can cite the source that will be displayed on the front page.. I know vbhome has a similiar add-on available on that. Would love to see one here too. (I use both scripts on several sites I work on).
