Would you say this is more server intensive or less server intensive than Inferno Shoutbox?

What about MGC Chatbox?

Also: How about a flood limit.

staticrebelle 06-02-2009 01:02 AM

Is it possible to have two parallel instances of the Chatbox installed on a site? I.e. I have one general chatbox on my forum home, but I'd also like to create a private Chatbox only for staff.

What changes (besides the database changes) would need to be made to the .xml file?

Is there a way to remove the [/] and [_] buttons from the chatbox, the smilies, and the pixle font size?? Who really ever uses those? Also the 255 text limit, does it really need to be there? It would look better if we could adjust the width of the chatbox (each section) and remove the useless items we don't need.

I personally don't need the "refreshing" text in there... it just stretches the chatbox every time it does that.

Anyone?

The older 3.6 version looked so much better (see below)
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/06/132.jpg

but due to the errors of mods and admins not able to edit or delete posts, I was forced to upgrade to this version...

They look pretty much exactly the same to me. The width of your forum is different.

Can somebody explains (in a simple way) to me how to install this ChatBox in the vBadvanced CMPS portal?...

Thanks

Either use the instructions that Cyb provioded:

Quote:

To have ChatBox enabled on vBa CMPS:
1. Hack options - Add "adv_index" to "Show ChatBox on" setting field (values in this field should be separated by commas) > Save
2. vBa CMPS Default Settings - add "cybchatbox" to "Portal Output Global Variables" field (values in this field should be separated by carriage return) > Save
3. [Optional] Template "adv_portal" - add "$cybchatbox" to line where you want ChatBox to appear (for example below "$navbar") > Save
Or, alternatively, you can shove it into a module by creating a template module and a template that contains only:

Code:

<tr>
<td>
$cybchatbox
</td>
</tr>

Additionally, you'll want to write a custom module wrapper. You can strip out most of the standard wrapper and use that. It's a little dirty, but if you want a movable module, that will work. I'm currently using that method on one of my sites.

I ran into that problem and have not resolved it yet. With the layout that I'm using (user adjustable fixed forum width in three sizes), the ChatBox is just a little too wide to fit in the center column. I haven't looked yet, because the site that I'm running this on is brand new and I have other things to work on with higher priority, but it's a sure bet that the width of the entry and display cells is set somewhere in Cyb's code.

For the width thing, I just started turning off some of the time/date options until I was just left with the Usernames.

You know, it never occurred to me to try that with a module. <smacks forehead>

EDIT: I'm guessing this only works if your vBa is in your forum root.

I would assume so. That's the only way I ever build a site, so I wouldn't really know for sure.

How about a flood limit? Annoying members can post as many times as they want and I'v like it so they have a 5 second grace period.

For the security issue....
try this...
edit templates>>>cybernetec templates>>>cyb_chatbox

Find:
Code:

<input type="hidden" name="textDecoration" />
Add Directly After:
Code:

<input type="hidden" name="securitytoken" value="$bbuserinfo[securitytoken]" />
Havent tried myself to see if it works....
hope it does tho! :D
