Hey ZT, now that you have an excellent archive running do you think there is any possibility you could come up with an importer - so I can get all the data I had in GeekyDesigns' 3.0.X shoutbox hack into this archive?

It still pulls way too many of the same smilies. Its so bad I had to shut the smilies off. Looks like that never got fixed.

i downloaded the file and in the Upgrade Instructions.txt, it says:

I got the new version, but I also don't see the archive or stats. How does the new editing/deleting feature work?Maybe an instruction file added to the zip? ;)

What he said lol - yeah click on the shoutbox title [you'll notice it's now a hyperlink]. You can edit the shouts on that page using AJAX, like you'd edit a thread title on forumdisplay - with the exception of you click the edit box instead of double clicking.

I just redownloaded and the readme's say 1.5. Checked the file I used for install last night and it also says 1.5. It's just a case of ZT forgetting to change the readmes. Import the new XML file and upload the new vbshout.php and it'll work. :)

Where your Shoutbox is on your forumhome click the word 'Shoutbox' - it'll take you to the new page.

Ok, so once again for the 8th or so time, How would i go about getting this on every page of the forum and even on the vbadvanced page?

If you check over on the vBAdvanced forums you'll see they've almost cracked it for the CMPS.

then that still leaves the problem of how do i make it show on every page of the forums? Right now it only shows on forum home, and moving the $shoutbox var won't do it.

one of the things that i loved about this shoutbox was its simplicity
i would be mindfull of not having it become bloated

im sticking with 1.6 as i dont see the need for top shouters and stuff like that...its just a shout - something temporary unlike a post

Don't you find the discret link to the archive page simple ? I do.

When some users can't connect forum during a short time, this archive page is great for them. It allow them to quick read old messages.

Love the archive, Makes things so much better for editing.

Personally I think this hack is going from strength to strength, also a prime example of the product system being used to it's potential. Like someone said up there, if you don't like the archive just use conditions for the hyperlink allowing only you to know the link [not an ideal solution - but if your users get in via a URL they figure out why not let them] - makes your life of editing much easier.

it refreshes all the time so you don't have to to see other shouts..
and the smilies are random, so it is possible to have two of the same smilies

Ok I understand what you are saying about the smilies...

But I am confused at why it is refreshing..."So I don't have to see other shouts?" Don't I want to see other shouts? If I type something and no one can view it, why am I typing it? Does it not work like a chat?
